Credit for this fly also goes out to Hans van Klinken. His technique for doing Dry/Emerger hybrids, AKA the Klinkhammer, has spawned numerous variations, for fly tyers everywhere. This is my take on his style of tying a killer pattern. One that can be changed ( by colors, hook size ) to imitate any Mayfly hatch.
I love your little black stone dry just tied some and caught 6 fish in a short period of time they seem to fly out of the box faster than I can tie this time of year
Let us note that Mr. Collins took a barb from the inner vane rather than the standard biot from the outer vane! I done this on occasion when I needed a particularly long fiber.
Jerry Plaaten good that you pointed that out. I usually always use Biots from the inner side, for any dry fly that I tye. And I always buy full feathers when it comes to Biots. It's true they are a little more fragile than the shorter ones. But I sometimes yank on the tip, so if there's a weak spot it will break before I tie it in. Plus I stay away from Biots that are trimmed, because I figure it's a waste to dispose of that side of the feather which has many uses.
John, not only are you an awesome tyer, you're a very courteous and humble one as well. That's a beautiful emerger, thanks for sharing! 👍
The shuck looks so realistic; it glistens with the UV finish. Love it, thanks for sharing!

Looks killer, thanks for sharing. One of these days i'll stop hating tying parachutes.
