Great video Martin! I'm always happy when Caylus gets more love. Caylus is one of my favourite games and I find with the "cult of the new" it gets overlooked. I know Heavy Cardboard (long time viewer here) has showcased Caylus before but I'll go on record now and say that we'd love to see it get tabled again!
I love to see some love for Three Kingdoms! One of my favourites. Edward's absolutely right to call out it's unique combination of worker placement with bidding.
Great video. I similarly apply the Race For The Galaxy test. There's a million card based games where you look for synergies and build a tableau, not many come out favourably when held up against RftG.

RftG full arc 1 is the reason why i own much fewer card games than i would normally own. There are few games that passed my RftG test. Res arcana and Core worlds (must be with expansion). I hope Seasons and Imperium will pass RftG test. Just curious, what games pass your RftG test?
Five is right out! 😂 Thanks for sharing the Caylus test! My wife and I love Viticulture and Agricola (and Caylus). I’m going to have to try Three Kingdoms Redux.
I really enjoyed the video, especially since I'll finally have my first game of Three Kingdoms next week... but I'm begging you, pleeeease do the next video without the background music, it was quite a distraction.
That was fun Martin, thank you! Next in the series: The Concordia Test. Just saying. Also, how about persuading the HC Crew to play Steam, rather than AoS, just for a change? AoI is getting some love, why not Steam?
We've talked about doing some Steam: Rails to Riches at some point, but there still so many AoS maps, that we haven't got around to it yet. I do have all the Steam:RtR maps, so we have access to them when the time comes.
I could listen to Martin all day long. His tastes, logic and reason align perfectly with mine! It's just a matter of time before I start dressing like him. I mean come on just look at the man! Excellent
If Martin is checking comments, or for anyone else, do you know what those boxes are the playing cards are stored in on the bottom left. Looking for some as mine are spilling all over my shelves.
I took have Agricola and Three Kingdoms Redux among my top worker placement games but my one recent play of Viticulture I thought was very mediocre. The seasonal division of actions is interesting but that was the only thing I appreciated. The other ones I'd highlight are Age of Empires III, and Tribune
Nice, I have a similar test for Area majority games (although I put it that way before) the El Grande test. Problem is nothing has beaten the El Grande test. Sure you need 5 players for El Grande but you don’t have 5 go play a different style of game.
fun! i want more martin shorts
Happy to oblige!

Excellent format, Martin, and beautifully edited. Bravo! Keep 'em coming!
Big shout out to Paul Springer for the editing. He did a great job of getting some rough stuff into a smart video.
Wonderful video! More of this!

I love me some Mr Fowler, so there's definitely much room for more like this one.

"Five is right out" - nice Monty Python reference. Really, there should be more Holy Hand Grenades in board games.
I need more of these from Martin and others yes matin I gave it thumbs
Literal laugh out loud moment at 0:31 for me. Bravo.
Love to see some love for Three Kingdoms Redux!
Cool video format!
Nice video, well articulated.
Thx Martin. Well done. More of these pls!
Finally something other than a playthrough on this channel!

Just cannot get enough of Martin!
Great video and my tastes are very aligned.
If you ever come back to the Finger Lakes, look me up and I can show you some fabulous dry Rieslings
We need more of this
Martin you are a treasure!!

Love Caylus! Emma doesn’t so it’s a boys night game! Interested now in Three Kingdoms… oh and I gave Martin some THUMBS 👍🏻👍🏻 … good work fine sir!
Love this format!
this was awesome
Great video Martin!
Brass Lancashire test next 😃
Next video request - review of that playing card collection!
If Martin is checking comments, or for anyone else, do you know what those boxes are the playing cards are stored in on the bottom left. Looking for some as mine are spilling all over my shelves.
Nice work, Martin! Agricola is probably still my number one game!
Love your structural explainations/ review as always. Somehow keyflower not making it ?
The fact that Lisboa is behind and it’s not mentioned blows my mind.
How can you treat your board game boxes that way?! I’m crying
I just want to see a list of games Martin has in his collection.
Yes!!! More Fowler!!!!
Very well done video indeed. Much thanks Martin. Curious if you think Keyflower would pass this caylus test.❤

Hey, you have Formosa Tea! Thoughts on the news of the second edition, how it changes many actions, point scoring, and such?
Are we going to get a Three Kingdoms Redux play on the channel??
We streamed it last year: th-cam.com/users/livex7XPTd7iwzs
Great video. I'm curious if you have tried Caylus 1303. If so, how do you compare it to the original?
I haven't had the chance yet
Yep that's it, dent those boxes!

Dune Imperium should be up there.
