What makes the Mother's Rosario arc so special is that it's real. Unlike Aincrad or Alicization, which the conflict is focused on the virtual world, Mother's Rosarios conflict is set in the real world. Not to mention that even if Yuuki was pretty much a vegetable in reality and is suffering a lot of pain due to her aids for years, she still puts a smile on her face and shows joy to others.

Real characters to relate to. (I like Siune for some reason) Character development in Asuna, her Mother, even dumbhead Kirito and of course Yuuki. And then the emotional Ending, beautiful Music. And they can finally buy back their house!

紺野木綿季（有紀）於2011年5月出生，出生時母親難產決定剖腹產，因事故導致大出血，在接受緊急輸血時接觸到了遭受病毒感染的血液而成為HIV（艾滋）病毒攜帶者。雖然在父母與姐姐的關心下，通過不斷服藥堅持了很長時間，但在四年級時木棉季是HIV攜帶者的事實被學校學生與家長獲知，在歧視與壓力下被迫轉學。在接受治療期間自願參與世界第一台醫療用完全潛行機器（Full Dive Gear）Medicuboid的開發並作為被實驗者。其後由於病症幾乎失去身體機能，絕大多數時間處於完全潛行入遊戲的狀態，這也是她劍技強大的理由之一。由於木綿季的努力，Medicuboid的實用化提前了數年的時間。
在紺野木綿季入院的三年半之後（2026年），也就是十五歲時遇到了亞絲娜，在此之前有紀的家人（父母、姐姐）都過世了，但有紀依然堅強地選擇活下來。有紀在遊戲中非常喜歡亞絲娜，並在戰鬥中稱後者為「姐姐」。在27層BOSS攻略戰結束後，由於害怕亞絲娜知道真相沉睡騎士團成員都是臨危的病人後疏遠自己而選擇了離開。在亞絲娜找到有紀的醫院並且告訴有紀，自己很喜歡與她相處時，沒有親人關心的有紀感到非常感動。在亞絲娜和桐人的幫助下，有紀通過攝像頭和麥克風遠距離體驗了學校的生活，並「回訪」了自己曾經的家。
2026年3月末，紺野木綿季病情急劇惡化進入病危狀態，29日臨終前進入ALO與亞絲娜告別，有上千名玩家為其送行。
病逝之前，有紀將自己的原創劍技（OSS）「聖母聖詠」（Mother's Rosario）贈與了亞絲娜。劍技的名稱來源是有紀在與病魔作鬥爭時總是能感受到母親對自己的愛（其實後來也包括姐姐和其他沉睡騎士團成員還有亞絲娜）。這也是小說第七卷《聖母聖詠》名稱的由來。

我們比他們幸福，並沒有這些煩惱，卻相對的浪費他們渴望卻遙不可及的不到的東西----時間。
