Nice effort, but not sure you saved yourself much considering all the parts that were purchased and time invested. I do concur $50 seems a bit high for the waterer, I'm surprised it doesn't have more competitors in the market. I am literally trying to solve this conundrum myself and I already have the 55 gal food grade barrel I want to use as the source. But I think I'm going to keep it simple and just buy the waterer and install a ball valve on the barrel and put it on a stand.
