I use electric latch retraction for buzz in applications. Both are cool however, I don't think I would put the EL device in a school, hospital, daycare center, or hotel. Too noisy! In a school, I would maybe put the EL on the front door for buzz in applications. But I would put the EL in a roller skating rink or shopping mall since those applications are noisy anyway so who cares. But I would highly recommend the MEL device in schools, hospitals, daycare centers, and hotels.
