    Day 2: 11th September 2022(Manali- ShinkuLa- Gumbok Rangjon- Kargiakh)
    Not Learning from Day 1 mistakes, We lavishly left the hotel by 9:30 A.M. We hadn’t opt for breakfast hence took a stop few KMs ahead at a roadside Dhaba. Had Paranthas and sandwiches . Food was fresh and tasty.
    Crossed Atal Tunnel at 11:20 A.M. with a memory of Rohtang Pass traffic jams and then adventurous descend which we had in previous years(2017-2019)
    At 2:30 PM, we reached ShinkuLa and there we spent almost One hour which should never be done ❎
    It was the enthusiasm of driving our #xuv700 AWD #Whiteknight and the reaching ShinkuLa which caused the delay. Here we took out our jackets as well as Cold winds were penetrating the skin like a 🔪!
    By the time, we left ShinkuLa , I was certain that we were short of our target which was Homestay of Dolma Aunty at Purne.
    The ascend to ShinkuLa was like a breeze and the descend was equally treacherous thus making our speed slow.
    Whiteknight showed its anger sometime with its grunt for not letting it utilise its sheer power 😄.
    With the descend, I felt some old feelings with a numb face and light headache. Naman was also feeling exhausted.
    I knew that doing 6500 feet to 16580 feet in a matter of few hours and spending an hour at top will be non forgiving.
    By the time we reached down in valley, I was hit by mild AMS. It was not enough and we were welcomed by a number of water crossings where level of water flow was increased due to sun and it was later part of the day.
    After tackling a deep water crossing with ease (The AWD system of Whiteknight was outstanding) , we faced a brutal cut on inner wall of left side rear passanger tyre. This immediately halted us.
    At that time, we realised that the puncture kit, Inflator and other tools(Help was extended by Naresh bhai) were left at home😰
    Coping with our destiny, Naman and Mohit rapidly changed the tyre and installed the Stepney which was not confidence inspiring
    By this time, AMS started showing its might and in no time I had 🤢 for 3 times till we reached Gumbok Rangjon.
    The mood was so bad that I could not get my pic clicked in front of Might mountain.
    With Sun setting faster coupled with increased number of water crossing and not so good roads, we finally reached Kargyak village checkpoint around 7:30 PM and we decided to stop ourselves there only(The road was closed by the checkpost as well).
    My AMS was on level 2 with Naman and Nishu both started feeling unwell at the same time.
    It was pitch black in night and We found shelter at a Homestay in Kargyak village which wasn’t comfortable but our bodies needed rest. The Homestay owner Tashi bhaiya gave us some warm Kahwa which helped us regain our senses. Night was uneventful but full of sickness caused by high mountain exposure.
    Roads from Manali Darcha were smooth and Darcha to ShinkuLa was good with some rough patches which were manageable. Roads down from ShinkuLa towards Gumbok Rangjon and then Kargyak were adventureous with lots of water crossings and rough surfaces.
    Whiteknight was gracious enough to tackle the bad roads with ease with only issue of tyre cut which could happen to anyone.

    Just one question for the ones who feel the suspension noise.Was the suspension ok on these roads and was it making noise as complained by customers?

      Hello Karan, it was in my mind before the start of trip itself. However, we face zero issue related to suspension noise. Next few vlogs will explain XUV700 AWD performance in a better way.
