    YIPPEEEE what a FANTASTIC unboxing video Claire and WOW absolutely BEAUTIFUL new Gymno's, they are all so very gorgeous, and well done on spotting and treating the Spider mites, they are so tiny its easy to miss them, and BRILLIANT info about the roots too

    Great haul of Gymnos Claire, and yep we gotta always be vigilant when it comes to beasties. One of the recent ones I purchased had a mealybug on it, soon dealt with it though haha. Thank you for sharing with us as always, from Edith & myself, have a wonderful afternoon and evening 😊☀️🌵🌺🌼🌸🏜

      Hello Daz 😊 Thanks for watching and commenting... Oh my! There seems to be a surge in bugs lately... I've organised and gone through every plant on my shelf rack and sorted them for winter rest and checked for Pests, but the cactus all look much neater now and straight 😆
      Those Mealy Bugs are so sneaky 🙉
      Have a great Evening and I look forward to your next unboxing... which I found out about in the comments 'grapevine' 👍🏻👌🏻🌵😁

      I enjoyed this unboxing, Claire! 😍 I love Gymnos and what you got are awesome. I would have done the same - soaking and cleaning up the new plants to be sure, even if i don’t see any bugs. I enjoyed the info you shared as well. Sub count reaching 500 fast! Can’t wait to congratulate you first as your channel is awesome. Thank you for sharing this with us. Have a great day! ❤️🌼🌸🌺🌵😍👍❤️

      Hello Edith 😁 Thanks so much for your amazing comment and for your support (and Daz, of course)... Glad you enjoyed the video... Had some dodgy sound issues with my voice but managed to rescue it I think 😆 Yes I seem to be washing every cactus now regardless of issues, it just seems the right way to go and the Pests on the cactus was a good opportunity to show this in the video you are most correct (and they look so much better for the deep clean 😆) 👍🏻😉🌵🏜️ and yes my subscriber count is growing slowly which is great 🤗 thank you for watching have a great day 🌼🌸💮🏵️🌻💐

      Hello again... Thank you for taking the time to watch my video and it was a little opportunity to touch on the subject, lightly, about roots... as I had to wash the roots off anyway... I'm glad the little bit of info I managed to squeeze into this video was perhaps helpful...have a great day/evening 😁👍🏻🌵🏜️🌵🏜️

      Thank you for watching and taking time to comment, yes Gymnocalycium are a very beautiful cactus, wish I could have shared the plant names of the individual cactus shown, but seller did not have identifications for any of the cactus unfortunately.
      Have a great day 😊🌵👍🏻

      @@CactusCove No worries, I had the same thing happen to me with my last cacti order, no names!! 😂

    That’s the only annoying thing about new plants is the possibility of new pests. I’m still battling with those pesky mealies ☹️

    • @CactusCove
      @CactusCove  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes the Pests are so annoying especially Mealy Bugs... I don't think it's always the seller's fault either... Sometimes they are as so well hidden... the red spined offsetting gymnocalycium in my video had Loads... but you couldn't initially spot them as I unwrapped the cactus... Only when they made contact with the cinnamon mixture they went crazy trying to escape like disturbed ants! 😆😉🌵Thank you for watching and commenting... Is it still the Opuntia you are having Mealy bugs on?

    • @Buzzardgirl13
      @Buzzardgirl13 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CactusCove Yes I agree, not the sellers fault at all. It’s our responsibility to make sure infected plants are not mixed with healthy ones. It’s the parioda that has them, which has unfortunately spread to 2 other cacti. I’m still checking daily and dapping the mealies with rubbing alcohol to get the little suckers 😂

    • @CactusCove
      @CactusCove  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Buzzardgirl13 I caught a live Mealy Bug and observed its movement in a tray... They moved quite fast so that's why they move from plant to plant quickly, maybe you could bare root the cactus and take soil off roots and wash off roots in water and get rid of MEALY Bugs that way to be sure you have got rid of them, just really pat dry the roots before putting into fresh dry soil mix.

    • @Buzzardgirl13
      @Buzzardgirl13 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CactusCove I might have to try that. It’s not masses of them, just one or two. Was hoping the rubbing alcohol would keep them at bay over winter. Thanks for your advice 🌵

      Thank you for watching and for your comment 😊 I got this particular brand via an Ebay shop... the actual brand I was using was by AROMA ENERGY (Made in UK, Vegan & Cruelty Free product , and bottled in the UK by Aroma Energy).
      Many health shops and particularly Holland and Barrett sell lots of oils too. 😊🌵✨🌵✨🌵✨

      Here is a link to the Aroma Energy website (if it's clickable) If not, it has the address there you can search for to find the website... I think they have 20% off at the moment aswell...

      @@CactusCove ordered, have you used it as well on succulents? just thinkig even a a spray , diluted as, just for spider ites or mealies as well?

    • @CactusCove
      @CactusCove  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes I use it diluted to the strength as shown in my video... I use it mixed with water (and dish soap if you want it to mix together better) I just use the oil and water as a pest spray in place of off the counter sprays, and throughly shake before each spray... Just make sure it's diluted correctly, do not use in bright sun or when grow lights are on and definitely cannot use the oil undiluted on plants otherwise it will 'burn'. Also its safe to breathe in when properly diluted otherwise refrain from breathing the oil in on its own. Plus it smells nice. 😉
