What a funny and enlightening episode. The mattress on the floor is because historically as africans we sleep on the floor. So with funerals typically during that period tvs are off and you dont play loud music or make noise. Its about grounding yourself because a life is in transition. So sleeping/sitting on the ground is part of grounding oneself. Additionally, you mourn to acknowledge the life to death transition. For the deceased but also for the living. You have to "change" the way you live because fundamentally life isn't the same anymore. Camagu
What I love about Popcorn and cheese is that every episode is gonna start of as an interview then ends up being an open discussion about the most random things
This has officially become my favourite Popcorn and cheese episode so far. Such a brilliant and insightful conversation with the popcorn and cheese flavour
Man Popps, Tsitsi and Robot are so special man💕they balance each other out I feel like they always make guests forget that they in front of the camera.
I think this is my favourite 2024 EP already, it was my first time hearing Langa speak and not sing and he is actually very wise, grounded and humble. Love the 3 musketeers too, love Robot’s calmness and wisdom, Popps crazy laugh and slapping jokes and Tsitsi’s subtle but super funny puns. Keep doing this guys ❤. We love it!!!
Yooh...today's episode is deep, Langa is a thinker and a good storyteller, mature for his age Stay humble The discussions were real Loyiso has to come back bcos we didn't hear his lifestory Best episode
I honestly thought this would be the most boring ep, i delayed 3 days before watching it but yerrr I am so glad I watched... He's open minded and authentic. I really relate with the guy and i really love his thought process
I was at Sun Bet and I can attest to what Mpho was saying about Langa, he absolutely KILLED IT. He sings from the very depth of his heart/soul and takes you on a journey. I was always a fan and was so glad I got to witness him live. He did that truly!!!
The ad right at the end is something I did not expect. An absolute treat. I would hear my parents speak about the "e monyolla mafura, e monyolla di dudla" ad but I would be lost because I did not know what they were talking about. It feels like a full circle moment. Popps kanti wuwena o kade a monyolla amafura? Great episode. Langa MaV offered great insight the whole time. He is a great conversationalist
😂😂😂😂the only celebrity interviews that I enjoy are on this podcast.. wow, nothing recycled, just a different perspective and a personality that I don't know a certain celebrity has. Love your work so much. So light and informative ❤
A fact about the Mavuso surname. Mavuso was supposed to be King of Swaziland 🇸🇿 but then some elder took his right hand burnt it...then when Mavuso was supposed to be coronated he was then disqualified because no King should rule with a left hand..then Dlamini became King. Thus why Mavuso clan name is Ncele lekhohlo
Nah,this has to be my favourite Ep this year..💗first of all I love Langa Mavuso..I love his music 😩..but I never got to the listen to him speak today child I fell in love with his mindset 💗I've always questioned tradition..why this ? Why that? And personally I don't practice anything until I know the full history.I'm at ease to know that there's somebody like me and also I could listen to this man speak the whole day..🥺 he's so smart and he articulate himself so well ! 😍
Mxm popcorn and cheese man, quality entertainment. Gomonate with a haha. What I appreciate about this interview is that it is so entertaining and so informative. Our culture as black people is our super power hence the oppressive system of Apartheid prioritised diminishing our identity to displaced our superpower that ensure our resilience and resistance. Due to the effects of colonisation, things like culture are falling away leaving us lost spiritually and vulnerable, which is not normal for us because we are naturally spiritual beings. So hey man, kuhle mavuso!!! Halalarrrr, SHINE❤
Such an informative episode. The conversation around music with Langa didn’t even scratch the surface. Then again, a lot was said in this episode and Langa knows so much and questions around our culture and why we do things needs to be asked. Answers are needed
LangaMavuso is such a vibe 🥺 It was John Wesley, the founder of the Methodist church who was asthmatic. Hence why 90% of Methodist priests preach the way they do. They are emulating John Wesley.
Valid, we need to ask more, because abo Gogo bethu are dying out and we moving up the hierarchy and having little people coming after us who needs to have their questions answers to restore our identity and empower the next generation
This ONE IS for Tsitsi... The paperik The big bang is Genesis 1:1 In the beginning = Time God created heaven = Space Earth = Matter Time Space Continuum, not Quantum. Creation has to happen ka1 Without space, you can't have matter to put in the space, thus when did you put the matter in space leads to time ....God speaking was the big bang...You checks ❤ Halleluuujaaah JESUS 🎉
Tsi Tsi best comment...looking for ❤ in the wrong color had me rolling. All episodes hv been fire keep it coming ❤ conversations and laughter, thank you
Just watched this ep as I went back to school and I had so much anxiety but after watching this ep I feel so much better. Great episode keep doing this you're uplifting our spirits ❤️
For me this is the best episode so far, not really a fan of the guest, but after watching this I'm a fan of the person not the star, what a beautiful episode with beautiful conversations
This conversation always gets me into trouble when I TRY to be so open minded coming to culture & Tradition because of the History behind this things, 🤣😂😅🤞
The Tombstone is to identify who has been buried there, unlike planting a tree as that will need someone old to tell the younger ones, some of the old graves cant be identified because people moved to different communities. The excessive spending on the tombstone is not necessary.
What the heck 🤯what a fire episode🔥🔥🔥I nominate this episode for episode of the year🎉motivated and dead dead dead Love the work you guys do keep on shining 🙌🙌🙌
Yo this was a Deep, Funny , Wholesome , Intelligent and an Intellectual episode... Never heard of Langa before as I live in Oz and I'm Zimbabwean , but imma check dude out cz he seems like an amazing person. Keepin it Real... SHOUTOUT to Popcorn 🍿 and cheese 🧀 RESPECT 🤜🏾
Regarding the surname issue i think sometimes you just have to use the surname that benefits you positively in life. Eg you might change from your mother's surname to the father's then find out later in life that your father's surname does not carry any positivity in your life. So my opinion is if the surname you are using does not give you problems then just stay with it
what an exchange❤😍😍Langas pen is immaculate👌guys i still listen to LoveLost since Boyz2men i flex with my vocab sometimes cz of him😁his music is really a journey🤗 in terms of growing up guys lol tshwantse re tshedise, cook ka di drie-voet, some of our niece&nephews are having families and getting married nd we have to step in as aunts&uncles and there's alot we need to learn & responsibilities.. its wild😁 beautiful episode i really enjoyed this one.. hs such a breath of fresh air&funny.. so cool🙏❤️
To show how everyone was so consumed and focused on the conversation, they forgot the "Beyond the Eye" promo/ad mid-conversation and only did it towards the end of the video 😂❤.
When it comes to funerals, i asked my wife to just buy a cow and they must use the skin to bury me and go and spend a lot of money on caskets. They must not even spen a lot of money on food. My mther said i will not see anything because i will be dead. i even went to the point of telling my wife i will put that in my will that has to be read before i am buried, i rather have th emoeny go to my kids than be spent on me in my death. it hurts me that they do not really want to do as i ask, i do not see the need of spending a lot of money on me when am dead.

Thanks for this. Really informative and interesting. 😅
wow!! we are here to learn
Yikes! Why did that elder do that???
I share the same sentiments with Nkosinathi. As an ancestor if you wanna bless me just bless me, don’t put conditions to it.
Thank you for having Langa Mavuso.Thank you for this platform.I haven't missed one episode since the one you did on PnC

‘Yona iyacabanga’ - culture is dynamic. It has to continue evolving to remain relevant & fit for purpose otherwise it dies.
Mpho pops laughter should be studied. This thing is an antidepressant 😂
Mphos smile when Tsitsi asks a well constructed and thought out question 😍😍.hes like thats my broer 😂❤
Tsitsi was cooking today😂🫕
