ive just started drawing, complete beginner and i find your videos extremely helpful and easy to follow. so much good advise in your content. just a quick question, what is the purpose of the folded paper that your resting on while your drawing?

Hi, do you draw your characters from reference? Like a photo of a person. I’m finding it hard to draw characters

it depends, sometimes i will but for this one its just out my head whilst going with the flow of things, its alot more fun because with to much reference you box yourself in and already have something you are trying to acheive but if you go with the flow its open to exploration. just get 0.01% better each day and the rest will fall into place

pencil is different actually do that with a spray can will be a challenge not as detailed.
