  • My first Swedish friend Christian Lindquist taught me my first Swedish song - its a folk lullaby that I found haunting and beautiful.
Christian is a multi-talented instrumentalist behind Solo Piano Diary (www.solopianodiary.com/) where he plays his piano at sunrise and records his compositions in its most pure and emotional form.
"I have always liked the sunrise, the freshness of an early morning. That has also become my time and very often I sit down and play my piano. I push record and play until the inspiration is out. The choice of keeping a recording is depended on how it makes me feel. "
Produced and Shot by Ideally Yours (ideally-yours.com/)
    Lyrics:
Sov på min arm! Natten gömmer
under sin vinge din blossande kind.
Lycklig och varm snart du drömmer
flyr mig i drömmen som våg flyr vind.
    Fångas igen. Flämtar. Strider.
Vill inte. Vill. Och blir åter kysst.
    Slumra min vän! Natten skrider.
Kärleken vaktar dig ömt och tyst.
    Translation:
    Sleep on my arm.
    The night is hiding.
Under its wing, your red, blushing cheeks.
Happy and warm you soon will dream,
chase me in dreams like the wave chased by wind.
    Caught again, breathing, fighting.
    Will not! Want! Kissed again.
Sleep my friend, the night slips by.
Love is guarding you, tender and quiet.
    Goodnight...

Swedish music is underrated. The language has haunting, dreamy lullabies. Learning the language myself, I posted a Swedish lullaby on TH-cam (have you heard of "Byssan Lull"?). I could actually fall asleep to this. Thank you for blessing us with this beautiful rendition.

During my semester abroad my Swedish language teacher used Evert Taube music as good examples of Swedish poetry. Ever since i have nurtured this love for Taube. This video is a very nice presentation.

Very nice rendition, but it's not a "Folk" tune. It's a composition by the noted Swedish writer/composer Evert Taube. The sheet music is widely available

Reminds me of Psychic TV's "For Careese".

Kewei - Where did you get it that this is folk? Taube composed it to a song collection of 1948. It might be called a lullaby, but the words talk about a grown woman.
By the way, it was sung at his funeral in 1976.
I have sung it in a choir and loved it.

Have you gotten the chords? I can give them to you if you don't have them. I am Swedish and often play this song.
