Using Dimentio as the transition was perfect, that guy was an absolute menace. Turned a friendly dragon against you, manipulated his coworkers, and tried to destroy the universe all in the one game he was featured in.

Manfred von Karma is a psychopath who killed his courtroom rival for “tarnishing” his perfect record, playing the long con to destroy his rival’s son (Edgeworth was responsible for von Karma getting shot by a stray bullet), and coercing a former suspect into helping frame his last target of hatred, meanwhile ignoring his very talented daughter. Dahlia Hawthorn is a sociopath who loved no one, knew what she was doing was evil, framed others for her crimes, and killed anyone who she felt was getting in her way. Not even family mattered to her, nor having any love interests could stop her from going down an extremely dark path.
Manfred Von Karma couldn’t have the bullet removed from his shoulder because it would likely have been turned over to the authorities, and eventually be matched to the bullet extracted from Gregory Edgeworth. Plus, it would leave a doctor as a witness to testify if he was ever brought to trial for DL-6. For Von Karma, It was either implicate himself now, or implicate himself later. And because of the statute of limitations on murder, he chose later. He was playing the long game, counting on the statute of limitations expiring on DL-6 before having the bullet removed. It was purely logical on his end…. He really did commit the perfect crime. He just didn’t account for the protagonist.

Cyrus isn't even emotionless. He represses himself severely but he very much not only has emotions, but very strong ones. I got the impression from his last scene in Platinum that total repression is the only way he can control them.
The funny thing is that for No. 2, he’s also in BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle who you can pair with Idachi (who was No. 10) so you can have 2 playable psychopaths as a team. Jesus. I can see how No. 1 got the spot. That is a legitimately scary villain.
One thing: Hazama and Terumi are two different characters. Hazama was created as an artificial human to contain Terumi’s soul and act as his hiding place while he spins his plans, but he has his own personality and goals separate from his passenger’s. In fact, as of Central Fiction, they’ve been separated into two bodies. Hazama’s a cruel evil fun troll too, but he’s not even half as bad as Terumi.

Because they kept coming back, and he kept trying to get rid of them in different ways. Vaas was just loud, not insane.

I think the best way to describe the No.1 pick is this. She would do literally everything everyone else on the list would do if she had the chance to do so.
I've seen several people say Junko doesn't count for various reasons. I love Josh, but I gotta disagree here. I know he's not super familiar with the secondary material in the series. 1. Junko's 'insane' antics are not real. Monokuma is not her real self either. She puts on quite a few personalitys and switches constantly to keep herself from getting bored and to keep her foes on edge. On the rare occasions we see the 'real' Junko, she's just as cold and detached as what you're looking for. 2. Yes she was born this way. She herself confirms 'she cried tears of total despair' when she was born(and yes, she can remember it). And Danganronpa 0 confirms she was manipulating people and poisoning adults as a Toddler. Also she sent Mukuro off to train to be her personal attack dog when they were 8/9 years old. 3. Junko acts as 'extra' as she does in the games because by that point she's already won, and most of those people no longer remember her anyway. We see her facade active fully in Danganronpa 3, where she wins and succeeds in ending the world using what she stole from Mitarai and Matsuda. And in DR0 we see how she ruined Matsuda's life to turn him into a loyal asset and then engineered the worst possible ending for him with Ryoko. And in DR-IF, she drops the act while talking to Mukuro, and even Mukuro is caught off guard at just what her sister is really like. I believe you've said before you've only played the games once and never saw DR3(Not V3 the non-canon game, 3 the anime that follows up on 2's ending in the future arc and explains what happened before DR1 in the despair arc), and yeah on a first playthrough if you don't play close attention I can see her being mistaken for just 'crazy'
Yeah Josh fell for Junko's 'crazy girl' acting. The real Junko is utterly cold, ruthless, wants nothing more than to make all of humanity suffer for her own pleasure. Most notably a scene midway through Danganronpa IF: The Button of Hope and The Tragic Warriors of Despair, where Mukuro is trying to talk to her Sister to reason their next move. Junko just completely drops the act and is completely unfeeling, just tells her sister it's time for her to die and she'll enjoy it.
I get leaving Vaas and Kefka off the list(Vaas is completely out to lunch and while Kefka was always a POS what happened to him made it worse), but Junko is not crazy or insane. She puts up personality’s to entertain herself. She is very much a psychopath and she gets worse and worse the closer you look at her. Her true personality fits the cold and uncaring qualified to a tee

How did The Dark Urge not make this list and Cazador did? I love how The Dark Urge origin puts the role of psychopath in YOUR hands to decide how to go about it. While it's fun to fully sink into the evil impulses of the route, I prefer the redemption path because I think it's a good portrayal of struggling against the psychopath within yourself rather than a separate entity.
The Dark Urge can be stopped or held at bay for a while. Cazador willfully enslaves and tortures his thralls, causing a ton of mental, physical and emotional damage to them. Just ask Astarion how he lived under Cazador’s control.
I think Xemnas still could have worked. I hold that what 3D revealed doesn't change how Ansem SOD and Xemnas were in their respective games. They may have been subtly guided by what Xehanort wanted, but their own desires and personalities drove them forward without realizing the ultimate goal until they were called to the future. And once they realized the truth, they just went along with it rather than have everything they worked for be crushed by the harsh truth of them being manipulated.
Yeah or They’re just as big of POS as their original self because Xemnas was ALWAYS lying about the organization’s goal. Regardless of whether you see the goal of organization 13 as a retcon. Xemnas was always lying to them about getting their Hearts Back. The KH2 Ultimania Think his personal goal for kingdom hearts were to become a godlike entity and remake the world which again isn’t that far off from what his true self wanted. And he more or less says this at the end of two
Having played Not For Broadcast this year, I agree Julia deserves the top spot. Especially since one career psychopaths IRL gravitate towards to is politics (and being a lawyer, which was Julia's prior career before going into politics). So yeah, unlike a majority of characters on the list, people like Julia actually exist.

In the case of number 1, especially since I played Not for Broadcast, it's freaking ironic that I enjoyed Peter Clement a lot more. His drunken antics, his sailor mouth, and his temper towards certain situations. At least he was himself, which is more than I can say about miss Salisbury steak. Shoot, given the choices you make in the game, one of the people that dies in the explosion could be your own daughter. Christ!
Not only is Peter a lot more fun but you get the sense he is a decent man with issues but is genuine in wanting to take from the rich and privilege to give back to the common people
Oh wow, didn't think I would ever see Not For Broadcast here! I played through it once and loved it, wish it had more players. It does have replayability, but man does it drag, it's not a short game. I mean it's not a bad thing, but with 14 different endings and one playthrough taking maybe 6 hours? Good luck, heh.

Never, in my LIFE, would i think Not For Broadcast would top one of your lists, let alone be on your radar! Applause for still managing to surprise us after all these years!
I will say that I don’t fully agree with Junko not being on the list because she’s ‘crazy’. Her unhinged personality you said made her ‘insane’ is very clearly a facade to keep her from getting bored. So is Monokuma. We meet her true self at the end of the first game, very cold, very sterile, just wants to end the world for a quick bit of entertainment. The creator themself calls her one. Specifically, she's a Sadistic Psychopath(which despite which some of the other commenters think aren't completely different things, Sadistic Psychopaths are a thing, and no they aren't the same thing as sociopaths). And we actually know not only she was born that way, but we can pinpoint exactly why. She's a psychopath because of her talent, Ultimate Analyst. She's literally known everything that is going to happen since she was a baby, it makes her bored. Despair is not predictable. She's a sadist(and also a psychopath again) because of defects in the pleasure and pain part of her brain, though this is also contributing to the psychopathy. We can confirm these are both true because we have other cases. Hajime wasn't a psychopath, but after he got Ultimate Analysis and became Kamakura he absolutely was(he eventually pulled himself out of it, but that was after years of working with Junko and it's implied the fact he had the 'Ultimate Hope' talent in him alongside some remnants of Hajime is what saved him). Chisa wasn't a sadist or a psychopath until Junko played ice-pick lobotomy with her brain and messed with the part of her brain that's messed up. Then she was. In-fact this also implies that even without the talent mentioned above she'd still be a Psychopath. Chisa became both a sadist and a psychopath after the surgery, and was able to keep her head down and convince the whole future foundation everything was fine for years even as she was sabotaging their operations and occasionally murdering toddlers on the side for a quick laugh. She can also induce the latter with brainwashing(either long and slow like with Monaca or with stolen technology like Class 77), but that can be undone. What she did to Chisa was unfixable. Also, Junko feeling 'empathy' and wanting to share her despair with others because she thinks it's for the best? That's a lie she tells people like Mukuro or Monaca. Mukuro tries to talk to her on her level after her betrayal in Danganronpa IF and Junko after a bit of goofing around just drops the act entirely and tells Mukuro she's going to enjoy watching her die after seeing how much Mukuro still loves her. Speaking of DR-IF, there's a single line in there that confirms Junko was the one who ordered Mukuro to run away on a vacation when she was 9(Junko was 8 at the time), and that Junko was already planning to unleash despair upon the world at this point. So at least since she was 8. DR0 actually pushes that back further. Junko at Age 5 was working to manipulate her best friend, Matsuda, into becoming loyal and dependant on her. She did this by poisoning his mom to make her sickly and borderline-dementiac, and then gaslighting and manipulating him into losing her other friends. This is because Matsuda(alongside being an easy target like her sister) was already showing promise as a Neurological prodigy and thanks to her talent Junko could predict he'd grow up to be the best in the world. Matsuda is the one who gave Junko mind erasing technology, and it was the combination of his research and the animation techniques that she stole from Mitarai that would allow her to create both brainwashing videos and 'un-alive yourself' videos. If you think Junko is crazy, you've fallen for the facade she puts on to entertain herself and make people uncomfortable. If you think she's delusional and thinks despair is better for other people, you've fallen for the lie she tells her close followers like Mukuro, Matsuda, and Izuru Kamakura. Not even Mukuro truly understood Junko, that's the entire plot of DRIF. So using her words as evidence of her not being a psychopath is a bad idea.
I believe that Josh has his own philosophies for his countdowns. One of them being that he mostly keeps it to what's shown in games, usually main ones. I think that's what prevents Junko from being in. He generally doesn't include things that are on side-materials. That is why despite with his adoration and obsession with Kingdom Hearts, he'll nitpick the confusing storyline, because of the series' obsession in putting plot-important things in non-game materials. And well, most of the Junko psychopathy isn't from the games as mentioned... so for him, she does look more like a typical crazy.

About 40 minutes at the end of the first two games, mostly being intentionally confusing and deceitful to mess with the cast. Her real self has less than a minute of screentime. Basically everything we actually know about her that isn't third or fourth hand or a lie is from the side materials. Danganronpa Zero(Novel), Danganronpa IF(Novel), and the anime specifically.

Shout out to the big bad from the fourth Ace Attorney game. Kristoph Gavin seriously stands out from other Ace Attorney villains, if only because of how strangely serious and seemingly calm he always looks. Basically take everything Josh said about Von Karma, and add the little extra ingredient of Black Psyche-locks As established in Dual Destinies, they only appear when someone is hiding a secret even they themselves aren't aware of. When asked about why he killed the victim from the first case, who turned out to be a defendant that dismissed him in an earlier case in favor of Phoenix, Black Psyche-locks appear on Kristoph. The general consensus is that these locks appeared because Kristoph is so far gone, that through his own ego and arrogance, he convinced himself that he did nothing wrong. Von Karma's a pretty good choice too, if only because his presence throughout the series is greater, but I have to give props to Kristoph for being such an intensely rotten man, despite his brief appearance
Having played Coffin of Andy and Leyley, I would have been appalled I'd they didn't make honorable mentions at minimum. Especially since they got started really early, and never quite improved.

I like to give a mention to MAIK, the main villain from World's End Club a super computer and AI, that was created by the father from 1 of the main characters with the goal of solving world problems, like preserving the Earth's environment but through a simulation, MAIK determined that in order to do that, humans need to be stopped but instead of simply killing them, MAIK instead created a method to remove humanities emotions, and locked them away so that nature can return to normal
Fun thing about Flowey, he gets even scarier in Undertale Yellow, where he is even more manipulative to Clover and gives an even more nightmarish final neutral fight in Meta Flowey. A fight that, according to what I heard, took an entire YEAR to code and animate!
I don't know if, Adachi counts as a psychopath. Arena ultimax shows he actually cares about, Dojima to some extent. He basically roasts an officer for talking badly about him.
Yes however a Physcopath is someone incapable of empathizing or connecting with others. Adachi, however is capable of it he just chose not to. Like I said earlier arena ultimax showed he had some care for, Dojima and got genuinely angry when he was bad mouthed. If anything I think he fits more as a sociopath.
It's sorta weird how Cyrus's great-great-great-grandma/ancestor, Cyllene was such a good woman. It's only proven by the fact that she basically helps the player out when everyone else is against them. No truly "bad" person would do that. Cyllene is truly good.
I truly believe that the last entry is there because of the fact that, through all the mysticism we see in video games, a villain that could realistically be in that position terrifies me, and presumably others.
Another fun fact about Cyrus in Masters, he has a soft spot for Sophocles and in a recent story he helped Sophocles and Penny with their new Pokemon PC. It's cute how he clearly likes Sophocles despite trying to keep neutral. It's why I like Masters so much, it fleshes out characters even more.
What scares me about *Not for Broadcast* (even though I've never played the game) is that the end scenario could actually happen in real life should the wrong people gain control of the government.
I tried looking for more information about Julia and Not For Broadcast. There's 14 different endings yet not that much info on Julia. Whether she dies or not in any ending. Who's the main enemy in this game and is there a good ending? And what the hell is this game? So many endings, "episodes", and other stuff. Reading it online makes me feel like I'm reading Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix.

Gonna assume you aren’t super familiar with Danganronpa lore. Junko is a creator confirmed psychopath. She’s cold and uncaring, she just puts on a looney persona to keep herself from getting bored. The spin-off materials (specifically the prequel novel Zero, the AU novel IF, and the DR3 anime) makes it clear what she is. She actually has a ton in common with Number 2 and Number 1, except The Tragedy killed more than half of humanity and destroyed all the pre-existing nation states. Julia could only hurt her own country.
She's still pretty over the top insane. Yeah she's cold, but she literally has no logic to her actions, there's a reason she outright says trying to understand her is pointless.

Sadistic Psychopaths exist along with Non-Sadistic Psychopaths. Pyschopaths can also have secondary mental health issues like substance abuse or even delusional disorders which combine to make things worse. Kefka honestly is both Psychopathic and Psychotic, born the former, made the latter. Junko's logic is she wants to maximise despair because it gets her off and is the only thing that keeps her from getting bored. She then proceeds to end the world and engineer a ton of horrific events. She's very similar to many ways to Julia and Terumi
@@kalkuttadrop6371 I always headcanoned Junko as like an embodiment of despair itself, akin to the grim reaper with death. Especially with all the goddess of despair talk in DR2. Instead of a mysterious rotting shadowy skeleton looming over you for the right time to strike she's an impossibly gorgeous and talented lady no one could hope to live up to. It would have been so cool if they leaned into that more with her poking at people's insecurities and making them spiral into hopelessness. They only really give you little tastes like the despair disease and the Warriors of Hope. It made Monaca much more of an imposing presence that we got to see some of those imprinted behaviors onscreen, because no one really takes Junko that seriously or cares to understand her ideology in the main games.

Junko' more of a sociopath than a Psycopath. Basically, she can feel empathy, but it' so weak that it' ends up backfiring, creating a feed back loop that emphasizes her sadism.

I would like to say out of pheonix wright I'll put Roger Retinz. since 1. He plotted the murder of his biggest fan, whom he spent years training. He could've carried Rogers legacy, but instead he was just a means to an end. 2. He didn't go after Phoenix's daughter, he wanted to crush everyone around her. By forging her signature to put her entire family into bankruptcy. 3. He Riled up and paid people to attack the wright agency. 4. At the very end he left satisfied all because he felt that as long as he tricked Trucy. That's all the satisfaction he needed before getting carried off to jail. All because he got hurt in his own stunt and was let go.

Eh, for Ace Attorney I would have gone for the true mastermind of Kenji 2: Simon Keyes. Not only he did exactly what Manfred did but in a bigger scale, but he also got everything he wanted as well. Knightley? Killed as planned. Patricia Roland? Arrested for the murder of Knightley, also as planned. Blaise Debeste? Arrested for the murder of Jill Crane, also as planned as well. And Di-Jung-Huang's body double? Killed on a lucky encounter. He not only managed to mastermind the entire game, but he also played a warden of a prison, a High Prossecutor and a President (the body double had arrange things so that he would be seen as the president of Zeng Fa) as his puppets. Even Miles Edgeworth was acting as planned! By the time Miles manages to catch him, he already won.

I have a question, has Josh finally stopped underating or considering KH3 a bad or weak sequel game with a bad ending? Curiosity really. Like does he really dislike the game that much? Im really asking.
I know another lot of protagonist bosses. Emerl from Sonic Battle, Oersted from Live A Live, Omori from Omori, The Batter from OFF, Spark as Livewire from Spark the Electric Jester 3, Hank from MADNESS: Project Nexus 2 and Tee from Puyo Puyo Tetris. I also have a countdown that I want to see which is called Top 10 Video Game Cruelty Potentials in which you do horrible things to your enemies and friendly or neutral NPCs like in Undertale or Octopath Traveler.
The idea of a person snapping and twisting his ideals to see himself in the right of doing the wrong and cruel acts any normal being would avoid is kind of intriguing. It makes you wonder if it was by design of the mind, the way the person was raised, or, perhaps, a more instinctive desire deep within? The mind is a curious thing, and we barely know how it ticks.

Like game Cyrus manga Cyrus still sees the world as flawed but in contrast to the cliched game adaptation manga Cyrus sees the world as flawed BECAUSE of his lack of emotions. To describe manga Cyrus you could say that he’s a man with two key interests. The complexity of machinery and ancient history. He learned and was enamored with the origins of sinnoh specifically of the lake trios concept of wisdom will and emotion. However due to this and his aforementioned lack of emotion he saw the world as incomplete, always lacking in one of the three concepts so his entire ambition was to remake the world so it could be whole embodying all three concepts once again for peace. It wasn’t until the climax and aftermath of the Diamond and Pearl arc after witnessing the three main characters embodying all three aspects (dia for emotion, pearl for will, and platina for wisdom) Cyrus comes to his conclusion that even if the individual is incompleteone can feel completion when surrounded by others who care for you. Another contrast between game and manga Cyrus is their impression of giratina. While game Cyrus was enamored by the antimatter Pokémon manga Cyrus rejected it as an affront to his desire of completion almost acting like the empty void he wishes to fill.
@@macaylacayton2915 what so the anime gets a free pass for recognition by piggybacking off of the games, but the manga that has been in circulation for as long as the game and anime series despite only having a fraction of the support or recognition while simultaneously providing their own stories can’t even be acknowledged for the actual legitimate creativity that goes into their writing.
Ok so you SPECIFICALLY mean the Adventures manga and not, say, DPA or whatever. But even there he isn't emotionless, and even comes to feel such strong gratitude that he attracts the attention of Shaymin.

It can be seen in the loyalty his admins give to him he just can’t see it for himself. Manfred Von Karma couldn’t have the bullet removed from his shoulder because it would likely have been turned over to the authorities, and eventually be matched to the bullet extracted from Gregory Edgeworth. Plus, it would leave a doctor as a witness to testify if he was ever brought to trial for DL-6. For Von Karma, It was either implicate himself now, or implicate himself later. And because of the statute of limitations on murder, he chose later. He was playing the long game, counting on the statute of limitations expiring on DL-6 before having the bullet removed. It was purely logical on his end…. He really did commit the perfect crime. He just didn’t account for the protagonist.

Cyrus isn't even emotionless. He represses himself severely but he very much not only has emotions, but very strong ones. I got the impression from his last scene in Platinum that total repression is the only way he can control them.
The funny thing is that for No. 2, he’s also in BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle who you can pair with Idachi (who was No. 10) so you can have 2 playable psychopaths as a team.

One thing: Hazama and Terumi are two different characters. Hazama was created as an artificial human to contain Terumi’s soul and act as his hiding place while he spins his plans, but he has his own personality and goals separate from his passenger’s. In fact, as of Central Fiction, they’ve been separated into two bodies. Hazama’s a cruel evil fun troll too, but he’s not even half as bad as Terumi.

I've seen several people say Junko doesn't count for various reasons. I love Josh, but I gotta disagree here. I know he's not super familiar with the secondary material in the series.
1. Junko's 'insane' antics are not real. Monokuma is not her real self either. She puts on quite a few personalitys and switches constantly to keep herself from getting bored and to keep her foes on edge. On the rare occasions we see the 'real' Junko, she's just as cold and detached as what you're looking for.
2. Yes she was born this way. She herself confirms 'she cried tears of total despair' when she was born(and yes, she can remember it). And Danganronpa 0 confirms she was manipulating people and poisoning adults as a Toddler. Also she sent Mukuro off to train to be her personal attack dog when they were 8/9 years old.
3. Junko acts as 'extra' as she does in the games because by that point she's already won, and most of those people no longer remember her anyway. We see her facade active fully in Danganronpa 3, where she wins and succeeds in ending the world using what she stole from Mitarai and Matsuda. And in DR0 we see how she ruined Matsuda's life to turn him into a loyal asset and then engineered the worst possible ending for him with Ryoko. And in DR-IF, she drops the act while talking to Mukuro, and even Mukuro is caught off guard at just what her sister is really like.
I believe you've said before you've only played the games once and never saw DR3(Not V3 the non-canon game, 3 the anime that follows up on 2's ending in the future arc and explains what happened before DR1 in the despair arc), and yeah on a first playthrough if you don't play close attention I can see her being mistaken for just 'crazy'
Yeah Josh fell for Junko's 'crazy girl' acting.
The real Junko is utterly cold, ruthless, wants nothing more than to make all of humanity suffer for her own pleasure.
Most notably a scene midway through Danganronpa IF: The Button of Hope and The Tragic Warriors of Despair, where Mukuro is trying to talk to her Sister to reason their next move. Junko just completely drops the act and is completely unfeeling, just tells her sister it's time for her to die and she'll enjoy it.

How did The Dark Urge not make this list and Cazador did? I love how The Dark Urge origin puts the role of psychopath in YOUR hands to decide how to go about it. While it's fun to fully sink into the evil impulses of the route, I prefer the redemption path because I think it's a good portrayal of struggling against the psychopath within yourself rather than a separate entity.
The Dark Urge can be stopped or held at bay for a while. Cazador willfully enslaves and tortures his thralls, causing a ton of mental, physical and emotional damage to them. Just ask Astarion how he lived under Cazador’s control.
I think Xemnas still could have worked. I hold that what 3D revealed doesn't change how Ansem SOD and Xemnas were in their respective games. They may have been subtly guided by what Xehanort wanted, but their own desires and personalities drove them forward without realizing the ultimate goal until they were called to the future. And once they realized the truth, they just went along with it rather than have everything they worked for be crushed by the harsh truth of them being manipulated.
Yeah or They’re just as big of POS as their original self because Xemnas was ALWAYS lying about the organization’s goal. Regardless of whether you see the goal of organization 13 as a retcon. Xemnas was always lying to them about getting their Hearts Back. The KH2 Ultimania Think his personal goal for kingdom hearts were to become a godlike entity and remake the world which again isn’t that far off from what his true self wanted. Having played Not For Broadcast this year, I agree Julia deserves the top spot. Especially since one career psychopaths IRL gravitate towards to is politics (and being a lawyer, which was Julia's prior career before going into politics).

In the case of number 1, especially since I played Not for Broadcast, it's freaking ironic that I enjoyed Peter Clement a lot more. His drunken antics, his sailor mouth, and his temper towards certain situations. At least he was himself, which is more than I can say about miss Salisbury steak. Shoot, given the choices you make in the game, one of the people that dies in the explosion could be your own daughter. Christ!

Oh wow, didn't think I would ever see Not For Broadcast here! I played through it once and loved it, wish it had more players. It does have replayability, but man does it drag, it's not a short game. I mean it's not a bad thing, but with 14 different endings and one playthrough taking maybe 6 hours? Good luck, heh.

I will say that I don’t fully agree with Junko not being on the list because she’s ‘crazy’.
Her unhinged personality you said made her ‘insane’ is very clearly a facade to keep her from getting bored. So is Monokuma. We meet her true self at the end of the first game, very cold, very sterile, just wants to end the world for a quick bit of entertainment. The creator themself calls her one.
Specifically, she's a Sadistic Psychopath(which despite which some of the other commenters think aren't completely different things, Sadistic Psychopaths are a thing, and no they aren't the same thing as sociopaths). And we actually know not only she was born that way, but we can pinpoint exactly why.
She's a psychopath because of her talent, Ultimate Analyst. She's literally known everything that is going to happen since she was a baby, it makes her bored. Despair is not predictable.
She's a sadist(and also a psychopath again) because of defects in the pleasure and pain part of her brain, though this is also contributing to the psychopathy.
We can confirm these are both true because we have other cases. Hajime wasn't a psychopath, but after he got Ultimate Analysis and became Kamakura he absolutely was(he eventually pulled himself out of it, but that was after years of working with Junko and it's implied the fact he had the 'Ultimate Hope' talent in him alongside some remnants of Hajime is what saved him).
Chisa wasn't a sadist or a psychopath until Junko played ice-pick lobotomy with her brain and messed with the part of her brain that's messed up. Then she was. In-fact this also implies that even without the talent mentioned above she'd still be a Psychopath. Chisa became both a sadist and a psychopath after the surgery, and was able to keep her head down and convince the whole future foundation everything was fine for years even as she was sabotaging their operations and occasionally murdering toddlers on the side for a quick laugh. She can also induce the latter with brainwashing(either long and slow like with Monaca or with stolen technology like Class 77), but that can be undone. What she did to Chisa was unfixable.
Also, Junko feeling 'empathy' and wanting to share her despair with others because she thinks it's for the best? That's a lie she tells people like Mukuro or Monaca. Mukuro tries to talk to her on her level after her betrayal in Danganronpa IF and Junko after a bit of goofing around just drops the act entirely and tells Mukuro she's going to enjoy watching her die after seeing how much Mukuro still loves her.
Speaking of DR-IF, there's a single line in there that confirms Junko was the one who ordered Mukuro to run away on a vacation when she was 9(Junko was 8 at the time), and that Junko was already planning to unleash despair upon the world at this point. So at least since she was 8.
DR0 actually pushes that back further. Junko at Age 5 was working to manipulate her best friend, Matsuda, into becoming loyal and dependant on her. She did this by poisoning his mom to make her sickly and borderline-dementiac, and then gaslighting and manipulating him into losing her other friends. This is because Matsuda(alongside being an easy target like her sister) was already showing promise as a Neurological prodigy and thanks to her talent Junko could predict he'd grow up to be the best in the world. Matsuda is the one who gave Junko mind erasing technology, and it was the combination of his research and the animation techniques that she stole from Mitarai that would allow her to create both brainwashing videos and 'un-alive yourself' videos.
If you think Junko is crazy, you've fallen for the facade she puts on to entertain herself and make people uncomfortable. If you think she's delusional and thinks despair is better for other people, you've fallen for the lie she tells her close followers like Mukuro, Matsuda, and Izuru Kamakura. Not even Mukuro truly understood Junko, that's the entire plot of DRIF. So using her words as evidence of her not being a psychopath is a bad idea.
I believe that Josh has his own philosophies for his countdowns. One of them being that he mostly keeps it to what's shown in games, usually main ones. I think that's what prevents Junko from being in. He generally doesn't include things that are on side-materials. That is why despite with his adoration and obsession with Kingdom Hearts, he'll nitpick the confusing storyline, because of the series' obsession in putting plot-important things in non-game materials.
And well, most of the Junko psychopathy isn't from the games as mentioned... so for him, she does look more like a typical crazy.

About 40 minutes at the end of the first two games, mostly being intentionally confusing and deceitful to mess with the cast. Her real self has less than a minute of screentime.
Basically everything we actually know about her that isn't third or fourth hand or a lie is from the side materials. Danganronpa Zero(Novel), Danganronpa IF(Novel), and the anime specifically.

Kristoph Gavin seriously stands out from other Ace Attorney villains, if only because of how strangely serious and seemingly calm he always looks. Basically take everything Josh said about Von Karma, and add the little extra ingredient of Black Psyche-locks
As established in Dual Destinies, they only appear when someone is hiding a secret even they themselves aren't aware of. When asked about why he killed the victim from the first case, who turned out to be a defendant that dismissed him in an earlier case in favor of Phoenix, Black Psyche-locks appear on Kristoph. The general consensus is that these locks appeared because Kristoph is so far gone, that through his own ego and arrogance, he convinced himself that he did nothing wrong.
Von Karma's a pretty good choice too, if only because his presence throughout the series is greater, but I have to give props to Kristoph for being such an intensely rotten man, despite his brief appearance

I like to give a mention to MAIK, the main villain from World's End Club
a super computer and AI, that was created by the father from 1 of the main characters
with the goal of solving world problems, like preserving the Earth's environment
but through a simulation, MAIK determined that in order to do that, humans need to be stopped
but instead of simply killing them, MAIK instead created a method to remove humanities emotions, and locked them away
so that nature can return to normal
AI doesn't really count, though...

Yes however a Physcopath is someone incapable of empathizing or connecting with others. Adachi, however is capable of it he just chose not to. Like I said earlier arena ultimax showed he had some care for, Dojima and got genuinely angry when he was bad mouthed. If anything I think he fits more as a sociopath.

It's sorta weird how Cyrus's great-great-great-grandma/ancestor, Cyllene was such a good woman. It's only proven by the fact that she basically helps the player out when everyone else is against them. No truly "bad" person would do that. Cyllene is truly good.

I truly believe that the last entry is there because of the fact that, through all the mysticism we see in video games, a villain that could realistically be in that position terrifies me, and presumably others.
Another fun fact about Cyrus in Masters, he has a soft spot for Sophocles and in a recent story he helped Sophocles and Penny with their new Pokemon PC. It's cute how he clearly likes Sophocles despite trying to keep neutral. It's why I like Masters so much, it fleshes out characters even more.

What scares me about *Not for Broadcast* (even though I've never played the game) is that the end scenario could actually happen in real life should the wrong people gain control of the government.
I tried looking for more information about Julia and Not For Broadcast. There's 14 different endings yet not that much info on Julia. Whether she dies or not in any ending. Who's the main enemy in this game and is there a good ending?

Ya know, Cyrus's plot in Masters EX sounds a lot like the Tsukinome Project from Naruto Shippuden. Trapping people in a world of dreams was exactly Madara's plan, after all.
Not going to lie, even though I have played the entry at Number 1; I did not expect it to appear on any sort of list, kudos to you for bringing it to a wider audience.
Gonna assume you aren’t super familiar with Danganronpa lore. Junko is a creator confirmed psychopath. She’s cold and uncaring, she just puts on a looney persona to keep herself from getting bored. The spin-off materials (specifically the prequel novel Zero, the AU novel IF, and the DR3 anime) makes it clear what she is. She actually has a ton in common with Number 2 and Number 1, except The Tragedy killed more than half of humanity and destroyed all the pre-existing nation states. Julia could only hurt her own country.
Wouldn't that make her a sociopath?
She's still pretty over the top insane. Yeah she's cold, but she literally has no logic to her actions, there's a reason she outright says trying to understand her is pointless.

Sadistic Psychopaths exist along with Non-Sadistic Psychopaths. Pyschopaths can also have secondary mental health issues like substance abuse or even delusional disorders which combine to make things worse. Kefka honestly is both Psychopathic and Psychotic, born the former, made the latter.
Junko's logic is she wants to maximise despair because it gets her off and is the only thing that keeps her from getting bored. She then proceeds to end the world and engineer a ton of horrific events. She's very similar to many ways to Julia and Terumi

@@kalkuttadrop6371 I always headcanoned Junko as like an embodiment of despair itself, akin to the grim reaper with death. Especially with all the goddess of despair talk in DR2. Instead of a mysterious rotting shadowy skeleton looming over you for the right time to strike she's an impossibly gorgeous and talented lady no one could hope to live up to. It would have been so cool if they leaned into that more with her poking at people's insecurities and making them spiral into hopelessness. They only really give you little tastes like the despair disease and the Warriors of Hope. It made Monaca much more of an imposing presence that we got to see some of those imprinted behaviors onscreen, because no one really takes Junko that seriously or cares to understand her ideology in the main games.
The despair off not being on this list is enough for Junko...
So hey I learned something today. I could use a few of these characters for some ideas.

1. He plotted the murder of his biggest fan, whom he spent years training. He could've carried Rogers legacy, but instead he was just a means to an end.
2. He didn't go after Phoenix's daughter, he wanted to crush everyone around her. By forging her signature to put her entire family into bankruptcy.
3. He Riled up and paid people to attack the wright agency.
4. At the very end he left satisfied all because he felt that as long as he tricked Trucy. That's all the satisfaction he needed before getting carried off to jail.
All because he got hurt in his own stunt and was let go.

Eh, for Ace Attorney I would have gone for the true mastermind of Kenji 2: Simon Keyes. Not only he did exactly what Manfred did but in a bigger scale, but he also got everything he wanted as well. Knightley? Killed as planned. Patricia Roland? Arrested for the murder of Knightley, also as planned. Blaise Debeste? Arrested for the murder of Jill Crane, also as planned as well. And Di-Jung-Huang's body double? Killed on a lucky encounter. He not only managed to mastermind the entire game, but he also played a warden of a prison, a High Prossecutor and a President (the body double had arrange things so that he would be seen as the president of Zeng Fa) as his puppets. Even Miles Edgeworth was acting as planned! By the time Miles manages to catch him, he already won.
By that logic, might as well put Matt Engarde nearly on the same level. (Then again, he’s both psychopathic and sociopathic.)

The idea of a person snapping and twisting his ideals to see himself in the right of doing the wrong and cruel acts any normal being would avoid is kind of intriguing. It makes you wonder if it was by design of the mind, the way the person was raised, or, perhaps, a more instinctive desire deep within?

She's a weird case because she does things just to do them. Psychopaths tend to have some sort of goal, twisted as it may be, Junko just doesn't. She's more a force of nature than an actual written character

Like game Cyrus manga Cyrus still sees the world as flawed but in contrast to the cliched game adaptation manga Cyrus sees the world as flawed BECAUSE of his lack of emotions.
To describe manga Cyrus you could say that he’s a man with two key interests. The complexity of machinery and ancient history. He learned and was enamored with the origins of sinnoh specifically of the lake trios concept of wisdom will and emotion. However due to this and his aforementioned lack of emotion he saw the world as incomplete, always lacking in one of the three concepts so his entire ambition was to remake the world so it could be whole embodying all three concepts once again for peace.
It wasn’t until the climax and aftermath of the Diamond and Pearl arc after witnessing the three main characters embodying all three aspects (dia for emotion, pearl for will, and platina for wisdom) Cyrus comes to his conclusion that even if the individual is incompleteone can feel completion when surrounded by others who care for you.
Another contrast between game and manga Cyrus is their impression of giratina. While game Cyrus was enamored by the antimatter Pokémon manga Cyrus rejected it as an affront to his desire of completion almost acting like the empty void he wishes to fill.

@@macaylacayton2915 what so the anime gets a free pass for recognition by piggybacking off of the games, but the manga that has been in circulation for as long as the game and anime series despite only having a fraction of the support or recognition while simultaneously providing their own stories can’t even be acknowledged for the actual legitimate creativity that goes into their writing.
Ok so you SPECIFICALLY mean the Adventures manga and not, say, DPA or whatever. But even there he isn't emotionless, and even comes to feel such strong gratitude that he attracts the attention of Shaymin.

@@BJGvideos to be fair it’s more so that Cyrus believes that he is emotionless rather then being truly emotionless. It can be seen in the loyalty his admins give to him he just can’t see it for himself.
It’s only until the platinum arc when he is forced in the distortion world on top of spending time with Dia that Cyrus beings to express himself more and undergo a revelation of self.
