ngl, i was so sad in the beginning. i thought, where did the ma long from yesterday go? no shade towards lin gaoyuan but he didn't have a great track record against ML, 9 matches between them and LGY only won the most recent 2, so i thought ML had a chance. then the first 3 sets happened and i was so dejected, though i could see ML was trying. it seemed like LGY studied ML's tactics against WCQ ystd and countered them.
but ML started to switch things up, even with a backhand serve?? like how often do we see ML do that?! we could see LGY losing his spirit in the 6th game and i thought this was it, ML's gonna do it. then it seemed like LGY woke back up and was so aggressive in the 7th, thankfully ML held on AND THE WORLD CUP IS HIS, THAT MAN IS 36 WITH SO MANY PEOPLE SAYING HE'S DONE AND AT THE SUNSET OF HIS CAREER. MAN JUST WON HIS 3RD WORLD CUP AND RANKS NO.4 (i think he goes up to no.3 after this), HE'S STILL THE DRAGON, THE CAPTAIN, THE DICTATOR, THE G.O.A.T!!!! i love him.
my heart's happy, i'm so glad ma long finally won, got to witness yet another win other than the mixed doubles at the singapore smash 🥹
