i had a 1982 kx125 (in 1984). I was 13 when my parents bought it for me. it was my first "real" dirtbike. i loved that thing. now that i look back though, they started looking really cool in 1984. Story of my life lol. I've always been a few years behind (and a few dollars short) of having the coolest toy at the time! to keep things in perspective though, it's better than not having one at all ;-)

I had a 1987 KDX 200. That thing would bring the front tire off in every gear by giving it gas you didn't have to use the clutch to make it wheelie just gas it. Man what a great bike from Kawasaki. Raced Hairscramble's man it was a great wood's bike.
I raced on a 76 KX 125 and always pulled the holeshot. Another racer on a new red Elsinore asked how I did it? I had no answer at the time but read recently that the KX had a rotary valve which made it a rocket off the gate.
I had a 1982 KX 125 B-1. The first year they had liquid cooling, and a front disc brake. I think it was rated at 32.5 HP. And it went very fast for that year. The next year they had disc brakes on both ends. I bought 2 brand new Kawasaki's in 1983. the KX125 B-1, and a GPz 550 Kawasaki Crotch Rocket :) Miss both them bikes now. And I only paid $5,345.xx for the both of them together... And now I own a 2008 KXf 4 stroke. It's an excellent bike, but it don't give me the thrills my 125 did. And my 250 KXf cost me over $9,000+ with taxes and I live in Canada... But I am currently looking for another Kawasaki KX 125 Years 2004 - 2007. And if I can find a really good one in good shape... I might see if they would take a trade straight across for my 2008 250F

YAMAHA the best motocross bike that's whot I raced from 1979 to 1984 suzuki rm first then had to switc to Yamaha thay wear faster by far go YAMAHA the best in motocross

Had the KX125A4 in 78, A5 KX250A5, KX125A6 and last of air cooled KX125A7 in 81. 81 CR, YZ and RM were water cooled.

I had four of those, '82,84,85,88 and the '85 was my favorite.
Got the 94 kx125 I'm rebuilding right now. Love those old 2 strokes although my track bike is an 09 kx250f lol.
Buy a 2019 yz 250 if you like the 2 smokers. since 2005, one of the best 2 strokes every made.
