While walking through the Lloyd Center mall in Portland Oregon November 1989.. I had my newborn in a front pack and my two year old walking next to me. My two year old took off on a sprint and I was having a hard time catching him.. this man went after my son, swooped him up and brought him to me. It was Sam Elliot.
Sam Elliot is real and true. Let me tell you a story when I first met him. It was the first day of shooting the movie Gettysburg. I was part of a Civil War cannon crew and we had just finished breakfast. It was roughly about 6 in the morning and we were moving forward with our cannon when he came out of a portable dressing room where a butler was waiting at a table of linens and Crystal awaiting his breakfast. He took one look at us, stood up, tapped his napkin to his lips, and went back into his dressing room. At that moment we all thought that was very rude of him but the next morning he proved us wrong. He apologized to us, told us he was very embarrassed as he never ate breakfast with a waiter like that, and then asked us if he could eat with us! We all became good friends after that and I can tell you he is just as real as you might imagine! He ate with us, talked about Civil War with us, and at night sat with us to see previous day shootings! He is a great person and real as can be!!!!
You might find this being a fun fact….while he was filming he rented a room at a location in Gettysburg which was advertised as haunted. He told us at breakfast one day that he was kind of disappointed because so far he hadn’t seen anything unusual. Two other actors did similar things during their filming-MRtin Sheen and Jeff Daniels. Both of these people were also very down to earth people and very beloved by the people of Gettysburg. In Daniels’ case, to get a “feel” for his character he requested he be allowed to visit the spot on Little Round Top where Chamberlain had been stationed. The Park Service granted his request and he related to us at supper afterwords that after about an hour on-site he was overcome with a feeling like he was sitting on holy ground. He told us he could not explain what it was like but he said he never felt such a feeling before filming before and knew he had to portray the man he represented with much care and humility. In Sheen’s case, he was seen constantly on the streets of Gettysburg and was very well-liked by the citizentry. He too was wildly respectful to his character, Robert E. Lee!
I have adored Sam Elliot for decades....not just because of his masculine good looks or his dreamy voice. He is old school....true gentleman, kind heart, has integrity and morals... the impetomy of a true man and it oozes out of him. You don't find males like him often and in today's society it's getting even more rare. No matter his age......he still ooze pure masculinity.

We live in Oregon and my daughter was working at market of choice in West Linn. She made Sam a sandwich and she said that he was so kind to her. She had no idea who he was because she's much younger, but eventually people told her. She said she would've never known that he was famous, he just seemed like a regular nice man . I was jealous that she met him though. I want to meet him ❤

I met Sam in A market in Ventura County. I normally don’t bother actors I see and I have seen so many over my many years you would think I was in the business. I am not. But I had seen him I yr before in Carmel. I didn’t say anything then. This time I did only to tell him all these many years I don’t recall seeing a famous actor more than once, I told him that was the reason I said hello to him this time. We spoke for a short time and he held out his hand to shake mine. I was surprised but of course I did and we parted.Very pleasant meeting. He’s a gracious and stoic as he appears in movies very friendly moment.

Sadly we loved each other but we couldn’t live together my mother used to say that out spiritual bodies wanted to be together but our earthly bodies wouldn’t allow it he passed 2 years ago I know we will meet again . Our 2 boys were the ones that lost the most 😢.

You waited until the last clip to show Elliot in one of the “Ghostrider” movies. Surprised you didn’t mention his work in TV ads. You mentioned he sometimes buys things that interest him, but didn’t mention that he supports many local charities in the Malibu/Agoura/Thousand Oaks area. He is gentlemanly, as you said, but he is also warm, kind and reasonably generous. Hollywood could use many more like him!

Sam Elliot will forever be my favorite actor. After all, I married his look-alike. My husband even had the same deep voice and Tim never got tired of hearing " Do you know you look just like Sam Elliot?!". Same tall, lean build, same hair, same mustache. When our son was born, we argued for days about his name until I said "I know! Let's name him Sam!" And so, we did. After our favorite guy, Sam Elliot. I'm a lucky woman. We had Tim until 53 when we lost him to cancer. As for the rumors of Sam Elliot's passing, we are glad those rumors were greatly exaggerated!

Sam is to me, a wonderful actor. The parts he plays always make me feel his presentation is real and natural. In a rugged way, he is a handsome man. He has what seems like a Handel on his acting. I have seen all of his films; I think the best line he has done is in the movie with N. Cage where he is “Slade”,. The last lines are so natural, and makes you want to see more of that particular part in the movie and more lines for slade. I’m not a female that is actors crazy, but I admire one that is a true,believing actor as Sam is. I also congratulate him and his lovely wife on their long journey together in their marriage. I think she is a good actress, and when they are both in a movie together, it is as though they belong together in the parts hands down. I was really hoping they'd do a series that fell between 1823&the one in earliest 20th century as the one needed to have more of how Yellowstone was built& given over to brother to go save it;&then that one left us dangling as to how it became today's Yellowstone as the man who was supposed to save it,the son of the farmers who settled it in 1823, was fighting to get back to America with wife&unborn child,&were separated in order to make nourney. Maybe the first Yellowstone episodes begin with that story. Oddly as much as I love Kevin Costner,I've not seen a single episode, but feel I must start@beginning. Sam Elliott's role as trail boss in 1823 was full of character that few could pull off today. HE IS ONE OF THE LAST GREATEST ACTORS STILL BEING TRUE TO SELF&THEIR CHARACTER RELATIONSHIP HE TRANSFORMS. BUT STILL THAT VOICE IN BOOK AUDIBLE....🤗...make this Alzheimer's book lover who now relies on audible&prays for an awesome narrator of book would absolutely LOVE IT! We live in Oregon and my daughter was working at market of choice in West Linn. She made Sam a sandwich and she said that he was so kind to her. She had no idea who he was because she's much younger, but eventually people told her. She said she would've never known that he was famous, he just seemed like a regular nice man . I was jealous that she met him though. I want to meet him ❤

I am happy to say my late husband very much resembled Sam Elliot. So seeing Sam Elliot now is often bittersweet because I miss my husband so much.

I met Sam in A market in Ventura County. I normally don’t bother actors I see and I have seen so many over my many years you would think I was in the business. I am not. But I had seen him I yr before in Carmel. I didn’t say anything then. This time I did only to tell him all these many years I don’t recall seeing a famous actor more than once, I told him that was the reason I said hello to him this time. We spoke for a short time and he held out his hand to shake mine. I was surprised but of course I did and we parted.Very pleasant meeting. He’s a gracious and stoic as he appears in movies very friendly moment.

You mentioned he sometimes buys things that interest him, but didn’t mention that he supports many local charities in the Malibu/Agoura/Thousand Oaks area. He is gentlemanly, as you said, but he is also warm, kind and reasonably generous. Hollywood could use many more like him!

My husband even had the same deep voice and Tim never got tired of hearing " Do you know you look just like Sam Elliot?!". Same tall, lean build, same hair, same mustache. When our son was born, we argued for days about his name until I said "I know! Let's name him Sam!" And so, we did. After our favorite guy, Sam Elliot. I'm a lucky woman. We had Tim until 53 when we lost him to cancer. As for the rumors of Sam Elliot's passing, we are glad those rumors were greatly exaggerated!

Over 40 years of marriage to his sweetheart, reminds me of John and June Carter Cash. Two couples that were truly made in heaven by the Almighty. I had the same plans for my future life when I was a young man but it wasn't lined up the stars that way. I am alot older and still hopeful that one day I can still find my lady, the one I'll be with till it's our time to leave this world and hopefully together holding each other in my arms. You might want to read the bios/documentaries on the Cash's. John cheated on June many times, even with her sister. Some say the sister was pregnant by him. June might have stayed married to him (why no one knows), but that was no marriage made in heaven.

Sam is to me, a wonderful actor. The parts he plays always make me feel his presentation is real and natural. In a rugged way, he is a handsome man. He has what seems like a Handel on his acting. I have seen all of his films; I think the best line he has done is in the movie with N. Cage where he is “Slade”,. The last lines are so natural, and makes you want to see more of that particular part in the movie and more lines for slade. I’m not a female that is actors crazy, but I admire one that is a true,believing actor as Sam is. I also congratulate him and his lovely wife on their long journey together in their marriage. I think she is a good actress, and when they are both in a movie together, it is as though they belong together in the parts hands down. I love to hear Sams voice especially since he has gotten older. It seems to go naturally with his part. I think it was sad that he had to be killed in “roadhouse”. I was really hoping they'd do a series that fell between 1823&the one in earliest 20th century as the one needed to have more of how Yellowstone was built& given over to brother to go save it;&then that one left us dangling as to how it became today's Yellowstone as the man who was supposed to save it,the son of the farmers who settled it in 1823, was fighting to get back to America with wife&unborn child,&were separated in order to make nourney. Maybe the first Yellowstone episodes begin with that story. Oddly as much as I love Kevin Costner,I've not seen a single episode, but feel I must start@beginning. Sam Elliott's role as trail boss in 1823 was full of character that few could pull off today. HE IS ONE OF THE LAST GREATEST ACTORS STILL BEING TRUE TO SELF&THEIR CHARACTER RELATIONSHIP HE TRANSFORMS.
