My husband is Danish. We currently live in Norway because of his work. We would love one day to move back to Danmark. I am always interested to see cheap property and how people create them into a homes and great living spaces. Look forward to seeing yours.
We're in the opposite scenarios! We're looking at buying a cabin in Norway so we can be in the wilderness! For us, living in Denmark is just a means to an end, because right now we have to live here to be together.
You're living the dream for sure. Something that a lot of us may not be able to make a reality in our lives. I guess we are all doing the best we can...
Been watching you since you lived in Canada alone. Would love the story on did you meet your hubby via Internet, your job? What made you choose Denmark? Will assume he is from Denmark?!
I met my hubby on the Sea Shepherd campaign in the Faroe Islands in 2014! We became good friends and when my relationship with Ryan ended, I told my current hubby that I had feelings for him. That was back in 2016. We spent a while planning on how to do it, because he's Danish and I lived in Canada, and I eventually moved to Sweden and then Denmark. Now we have this quaint little cottage here 😊
Could you maybe also make a video with details in regards to buying a home in Denmark? Where exactly in Denmark it is, the costs, advantages, downsides etc. ☺️
Sure! We have a specific situation where we live in a summer home and travel during the winter, so our home is about 1/4 the price of a regular home in Denmark!
Thankfully no! I definitely have a lot of thoughts with it, but I'm out on a mission with Sea Shepherd right now and not sure I can make any videos. It's full on at the moment, but I will talk about it if I get the time
This is so great!! Absolutely goals👏👏👏 I would love to see an indoor tour as well! It's one of my goals to become self-sufficient too, and seeing videos like this is really inspiring💖 Stay connected!
I'll definitely share an indoor tour ☺️ growing our own food has been amazing! We're nowhere near actually being self sufficient, but even having some of our food from our property is really nice
Hi! Thank you very much for sharing the video. You and your partner must have worked a lot on the house since we can see many changes. It would be great if you could share some information on the process followed in order to buy a house in Denmark and the costs involved. Thank you!
You're welcome! We definitely have worked hard and it's all been worth it! Honestly, the process of buying a house here is exactly like anywhere else. You just get a mortgage from the bank. The cost is very low because we live in a specific area that is very rural and meant for summer homes.
What do you do with the bugs and preventing them from getting into your home? Doesn’t the chopped wood have all kind of small bugs? Just wondering bc I’d like to do this in the future but my husband thinks the bugs would be overwhelming
We have very few bugs here. There are some in the wood, sure, but they stay in the wood and we don't bring them into the home so it's not really an issue! Our covered patio is outside
SO COOL!! You made all this happen for yourself which is so inspiring. You work hard! Thank you for sharing what you've built. It's planting seeds in my brain to do similar things. :D
I saw that you had replied to my story, but TH-cam doesn't allow creators to respond to story responses. It's very frustrating! I work with acrylics ☺️
@@Tarahhh Thank you for responding. You are so talented. I work mostly with watercolors because acrylics are a little more difficult for me. I would love to see a video on your art process. Keep painting!
@@cherryberry2423 Aw thank you! I actually feel the same about water colours, I find them so difficult to work with! I'm actually starting a new art channel here on YT, so I'll share that once I have some videos up :)
Largely. I use the curly girl method now, which does include a lot of products for the average person, but I use very little. I found that I have to use conditioner with the hard water in Denmark, otherwise my hair gets so brittle that it literally breaks off in my hands. It was damaged for a long time before I started using conditioner. Other than that, I use homemade hair gel from flax seeds, and coconut oil, but that's all.
wow you should be a decorater or something like that. Danish houses needs more nature in their houses and gardens like you guys have done. By the way how do you make money now since moving to Denmark?
We honestly just plant things in the only places they can go on the property! I agree, though. So many people come to this area from Copenhagen and cut down all of their trees. It's heartbreaking.
We definitely don't have acres 😂 we only have half an acre. Having a home with lots of land is rare in Denmark, there's just not the space for it. To have acres, you'd have to own farmland. Otherwise, it's a very small country with tons of people. To have that kind of land, we're looking at buying a cabin in Sweden or Norway.
@@Tarahhh Oh I didn't know that!! Thanks for educating me on that. From your videos I just assumed you had an acre or two. I love how you and your dog are always together It reminds me of myself as I have a really close bond with my big dog and he looks very similar to yours. Enjoy your peaceful property!!!
@@sylvestercoffee7212 I didn't realize that Denmark was like that before moving here! I'm still really grateful for our cottage, even though it doesn't have as much land as I'd like to. Thankfully the cabins in Norway/Sweden are very cheap, so we'll have a property with land and wilderness soon! Absolutely, I love Pepsi, he's my baby. ,Happy to hear you have a close bond with your pup too :)
You know there is such a thing as being married to s native, right? lol I'm surprised you're not angry about her marrying a Danish person. "Omgz, why are all the foreigners taking our men! Omg."
Lol TH-cam brings in barely any revenue. I'm a bike courier to pay the bills and thankfully I don't have to work much. Otherwise I'm starting to sell my paintings and I get the odd TH-cam sponsorship. My hubby works online for the same org I used to work for
@@Tarahhh Bike courier sounds like fun! You get to bike for work - that's basically a dream! :) You should share you paintings with us :) (Maybe you have, I just missed that video.)
