NOTES Use of AI in Defence .Changing nature of war: reduced decision making cycle+ Data overload --> requires AI . Need for deep surveillance in border areas: e. g.,underwater sensors, intelligent gathering, patrol assistance . Essential component in decision making: can aid and augment human judgement . Cyber warfare: defensive+offensive . Smart weapons . Efficiency in dull and dangerous tasks . Logistics and supply chain management . China: extensive expenditure on AI --> can transfer technology to Pakistan Way Forward . Formulate an AI doctrine . Increase budget on AI . Expand potential of AI: e.g., health . Collaboration at research level . Training human resources (infantry) to use AI
Maroof sir, your incisive questions and style of questioning on programme has been able to bring out the best in the esoteric domain of AI. Gen Sharma and Gen Sabherwal have not only covered the application areas of AI in Defence sector, but also cited specific use cases. Great watching such an insightful programme.
Before an AI doctrine we need a National doctrine that can clearly define our national goals, our adversaries and threats posed to us by them and using what mechanism and imstruments to counter them
Thank you Col Mahrrof. Ind Army at least will be ready to confront the PLA at least by next 10 years in case blind polity and Indian babus are able to understand the same.
