In 1966, my wife and I were in a Peace Corps Educational TV Project in Bogota, Colombia, South America. At the end of our tour, we took a trip that included Lima, Peru. A flight to Cuzco and a train to Machu Picchu for an over-night stay at the hotel. There were four of us. The next day, we toured the site and the other couple and I climbed the mountain, stone steps and all to the top and the temple. I lugged my camera bag banging on my hip and took pictures from the top. Came down on my back, step by step, crossed the "saddle" path back to the city. One slip was death. Looking back, I was young, stupid, and bullet-proof. I'm now 83 and have Vertigo. I sometimes look at my pics from that trip and get wobbly. The memory is still vivid and I can always look at a poster of M_P and say "I Climbed That".
What a perfect day for the climb ❤ I climbed when the trip was done on mule 😉😆😂🙃 now y'all have a train 🚆 🚈 there was more vegetation also. Thank you Mr. Foerster sir, 😢 tear of joy, and missing home.
The sheer amount of effort it must have taken to place each stone and build each wall makes my head spin. I'd love to know how long the original builders spent assembling this place. I imagine the view under a midnight sky must be breathtaking.
Brian , I noticed something no one has ever addressed, it’s possible it could be a small hydrogen production center . There is a small looking pyramid. If you know what I am talking about please get a closer picture so I can have a better look. If not , oh well don’t worry about it, I am a crazy man anyways l😉

I’ll get to Machu Pichu someday. Hopefully in the next year or two. I’m planning my next backpacking trip.
