The Windies team led by Clive Lloyd will go down in history as the greatest Test team in cricket history. No sledging...no controversy...2 odi world cups.
one of the greatest batsmen i've seen playing. Gordon greenidge is not only my favourite batsmen of all time but my absolute favourites. The greatest in agression and one of the best to dig in and play a long innings, he has proved it times and times again in his illustrious career.
when thought of West Indies of late seventies comes in mind ... even being viewers it brings shiver all over my body ... they really dominated not only cricket but peoples mind and heart! No team reached their height! Salute Team West Indies!
A king amongst cricketers. One of the best square cutters you will ever see. Would be great to see a competitive WI side again... not sure we ever will. Had the pleasure of talking with CGG at the old Barbados Ground in the Sobers Pavilion. A real gentleman who gave everyone the time of day. Never to be forgotten chance for me...
How much wisdom in this? Allow players to be themselves, don't get too bogged down in aything else, allow natural ability to express to its full capacity, and let what happens happen! I emplyed this same philosophy in my indoor cricket teams and we won 5 seasons straight. Actually the only thing I told my players to do was listen to reggae music!
Freedo retired by 1977 itself; struggled in WSC which was a warzone; Desmond and Gordon is pair from heaven formes around 1978 onwards; get any of them & you will see Master blaster came chewing the gum at 3. Not much motivating to get out any
@theivd I beg to differ... the current generation does not have the BASICS down. The basics is 90% inside of them: character, integrity, discipline, focus, empathy, servant heart, national pride, team spirit... I know, judge not, but if you were to mention this to them you would get a blank look.
If the youngers are not talking to the greats it's very surprising. In any other country, they would be getting involved. However, some of the greats pipe up just to insult the juniors.

Nobody plays the hook shot better...also watch out when he starts to limp!!!!
And don't forget how he murdered the cricket ball when he played the square ⬜ cut.
