One of my fave PT songs, love how the change ups somehow contribute to accentuating the more ethereal parts of the song. Gives it an over-all dreamy effect imo.
Most PT fans will agree that "Anesthetize" Live in Tilburg is a must. It's got a long run time, but don't let that intimidate you. It takes you on a journey and it goes by quickly. It's a masterpiece.

Great starting list by @Larry Cass though i would push Anesthetise down the list a bit, not because its not good (its amazing) but because it is thought by many to be the magnum opus so you should maybe build up to it! Have to add 10 more ‘Yellow hedgerow Dreamscape’, ‘Time Flies’, ‘Lazarus’, ‘Heart attack in a lay-by’, ‘half light’, lightbulb sun, ‘The sound of Musak’. ‘Stars Die’, ‘collapse the light into earth’, ‘fear of a blank planet’ its so easy with this band as their repertoire is just so good. Or maybe go right up to date in 2022 with’Harridan’, ‘Herd Culling’, ‘Dignity’, ‘of the new day’, ‘Never have’……………..you could be in this rabbit hole for a while.
I love Porcupine Tree and this song is amazing! you should listen to more of their work and also Steven Wilson's (singer) solo projects some to look at : Watchmaker , Routine, Drive home , Dark matter , Dont hate me
"standard" maybe you meant accessible? I agree, but its one of those perfect mixes of accessible on the surface yet the more you listen the more it unravels and you learn its subtle intricacies. at the end of the day it's just a perfect pop song and i cannot believe it wasn't a huge hit. BANGER
Extremely deep well here! This is as close to radio friendly as they ever got. Definitely not far off of Radiohead. However, they often sit somewhere between Pink Floyd and Tool. Their musicianship is unequaled. I recommend Anesthetize live, Hatesong live and Cheating the Polygraph live. Cheers!

You won't hear it in this song specifically but Gavin Harrison is one the elite drummers in music. In any genre.

This is one of the biggest hits of the best band that almost nobody knows. Shame
