The Balance combines full-band performances with improvised solo piano pieces. The title, Ibrahim notes, stems from the balance that's part of those different pieces, what he calls "a balance of different narratives. For me it's always the idea of telling a story and not just playing notes. There's a variety of songs and each one has a different aspect and different narrative and different pastel colors. We reached that balance within ourselves." He adds that the gentle, atmospheric title track "was something I wrote many years ago. We played it in many different formats, but the recording that day in London was what felt like the best way to do it."

Thank you for your music, Abdullah!
Thank you so much! Closed my eyes and let every note flow over and through me. Just shut out every bit of craziness we are living through right now, helping me think of the days to come when we have peace and love for each other! Take care and best of health to everyone!

Precioso disco. Muchas gracias.

One of my favorite musicians ever! Great photo of the maestro. It sucks that the label that actually put out the recording can't be bothered to credit the photographer here. Photographers are very poorly paid by record labels; the least they could do is give them a credit.
Good point. ECM, perhaps the most forward-looking record label of them all, always identifies graphic artists, photographers and artists who create their album covers.
Happy birthday, Abdullah Ibrahim!

Un disco mostruoso, come molti del Master Dollar.
Simply Lovely..
A real materpiece.
Brilliant!
makes me happy to be alive, no meme, no kek :)
The King!
Thanks for posting.
Tack Klas Östergren för tipset!
An over used word, but the man's a genius, a genius!
A better of the best and a best of the better. Truly enjoyed one of the best moments I have had.
I sit in the dark with two audio research v-140 mono/block hybrid amplifiers. And, not to forget two beautiful and aspiring speakers.
Close my eyes and my heart is lifted. Thank you.
Perfect.....love the Mood...😎
Well, I bought it, thanks to this stream. Cd came today. And I broke out all my old enja cassettes to listen to once again. Thanks Gearbox for reminding me during Covid of something very special.
Enja cassettes. Yow.
@@jimmetesky6019 Yup! And they all work flawlessly too. Cheers.
