    Hi. You have made a great video and I used this to install ram. Now I will install a SSD. However you have also said you updated the wifi card. Can I ask if you are able to advise the latest card that my system will accept. I know you video is from a while ago so there have been lots of new WiFi speeds. I know I can install a dongle but wanted a WiFi card inside. Thanks. My laptop is the sony vaio svf15a1s2es. Or if you can advise the very best speed card that it will accept. Some say WiFi 6e will work on the laptop?

      Thanks for the feedback, and glad it helped your RAM upgrade. Your laptop model looks very similar to mine. On SSD I recommend any of the Samsung EVO models. They're affordable and good performance. I was testing different models.
      On wifi the original Broadcom card was so bad the internet would drop off regularly and short range. It even stopped working as Broadcom stopped support. So I had to change it. If your network card is working, leave it alone. I'm not sure WiFi-6 card will work. Also better off buying a newer computer.
      I used the recommended compatible model: Intel Network 6235AN card.
      The SSD is the best upgrade for any old computer. Everything is faster and smoother. Hope that helps and good luck with your upgrade project 👍

    Really looks helpful n handy, thanks for small details n tips.
    So With the Cloning did you got all operating system pre installed on new drive? I was waiting at the end to turn the laptop on.

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, correct. Good questions. Your exact setup is copied to the SSD. That's why it's called a 'Clone'. You don't have to start over. When you turn on the computer it's the same setup I had, except faster. Start, Shutdown, and Restart all become very fast. I had to reboot a few times to get all the SSD features working. I covered that in the RAM Upgrade video we chatted on earlier. I showed the computer Restarting at the end.

      @@BAdventures hey bro, after i ordered...just noticed yours’ is 850 pro.
      But i purchased EVO 860 by seeing the link in description. Will this works too??

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes and good choice. The 860 EVO is the newer model and I recommend it.
      I was experimenting and testing the older 850 series.
      PRO is for hard use, like constantly transferring large files and heavy work loads.

    Hey, good job.
    It's cool to show read/write number speed differences, but the real thing that makes non-techies oohh and aahh is simply demonstrating the differences in boot times between mechanical and solid state drives.
    Maybe in your next upgrade video? :)

    • @BAdventures

      Good feedback. I didn't want to spent too long on more technical comparisons. Other guys have covered that better than me. But SSD's are definitely worth it 😉

    Does the assist button work after replacing the hard drive?

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That shouldn't have anything to do with the the hard drive. That's a firmware or software issue. I've never needed to use it. To answer your question: I just tried using the Assist button and it didn't work.
      You can use the Windows key, or click on the Start menu to find anything you need.

    • @BadarSyed

      @@BAdventures thank you for replying. I use assist key to open the bios settings. It is possible only after it is shutdown and hold down the assist key. Because function keys don't work. Did you have any trouble booting from the media when you first installed the windows?

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh I see. Thanks for explaining. Not trouble at all. That's why it's called a "clone". Everything is copied over to the SSD the same. Video below shows the Restart and boot up. I recommend the Samsung EVO version. I was testing the different models. Hands down the upgrade to SSD was the best. Faster everything.

    Hi, I have a “Sony VAIO SVF14N2A4ES Fit 14A Multi-flip 14” Laptop”. The Disk usage shows 100% so whilst I was searching for a solution I found myself on this video and comments. I wonder what is a good and compatible SSD that I can use to replace my 1TB HDD please?

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Possible Solutions:
      (1) Get an external hard drive to back up your files and free up disk space.
      (2) Recommend the Samsung 870 EVO series SATA connection SSD.
      Happy with all the SSD models in my videos, and the laptops are still going strong. SSD is the best upgrade for an old computer. The old SATA hard disc drives wear out and become really slow.
      Note your model spec: Intel Core-i5 4200U processor. Always check the CPU first. Demo videos below.
      (3) A newer model computer. Find a slightly used with newer and better processors: Intel Core i5 and i7; and AMD Ryzen R5, and R7.

      Your model is very similar to mine in this video. Yes you definitely need to replace your old hard drive. It's worn out, which is why it's so slow.
      I recommend the Samsung EVO 1TB 2.5" Internal SATA SSD. Everything is faster. Also quality of life benefits. No moving parts, less heat, less noise, smoother. Hands down it's the best upgrade for an old computer.
      *Note: I was testing out both the EVO and PRO models. You can save money by using the EVO model which is just as good.

      Not if you 'clone' it. That's what I did at the start. Copied everything into the new SSD as a clone. Swapped hard drives. Turn computer back on. Everything is like before, all your files and settings are the same. But everything is faster. The computer can run at max speed. Below video shows more of the cloning process.

      The answer is Yes. But sounds like you need help. Find a local technician or computer repairer. They might be able to recover the old hard drive; and help with a new SSD and fresh install. I can only do so much replying online. Hope that helps.
      What is the exact computer model and number? And the build or model year? So we can check the specs.

    alright I need serious help. I connected my new SSD to my laptop with a SATA cable to format it correctly (to a GPT) and change the BOIS settings. I downloaded Windows 10 onto a USB drive and when I go to install it onto my new SSD once I install it on my laptop (SSD put into laptop) the program keeps saying, "SSD needs to be a GPT (or something along the lines of that) so I don't know how the hell it's not formatted correctly at this point but it's just pissing me off that no matter how many programs I use or formatting I can't install a new SSD with windows 10.

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your situation sounds over-complicated.
      I would have installed Windows 10 first. Made sure everything was working. Then clone to your new SSD.
      You changed the BIOS and tried installing a new OS. A clean install is different to a Clone.
      Best to take it to a computer technician or repairer. Get some specialised help.
      Or try the clean install with the old hard drive. Get it working first. Then clone to your new SSD.
      When you "Clone" it's literally a copy of your computers image. If you want to make any changes, do it before the cloning process. Eg I upgraded to Windows 10 and deleted any unnecessary programs. Then ran a Defrag and Disk Clean. Basically cleaned up the old hard drive. Everything was working stable and normal.
      I then proceeded to Clone to my new SSD, as it was a working image.
      Hope that helps 😎

      @@BAdventures I've tried multiple programs to clone the SSD but the Samsung Data migration is straight up terrible and MiniTool Wizard pro keeps saying my SSD is to small to be cloned even tho I made sure there wasn't too much data that had to be cloned.

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you cloning to the same storage capacity size? Eg 500GB SATA HD to a 500GB SSD?
      If you are are using a new drive with different capacity you have to do a partition hack. Then adjust the partition after the clone. Some motherboards may not recognise the difference in size.
      I demonstrated the Samsung migration software in 2 videos. No problem. It actually made it all easier.
      If you want to try fix it yourself google it.
      Otherwise get professional help. Hope it works out.

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think it's practical. Not sure if you can do it. Usually laptop processors are locked to the factory motherboard and you don't change them. That's usually a desktops thing.
      It's already and old laptop. I would recommend buying a new computer. Look into the new AMD Ryzen 4000 mobile processors. 8-core laptop is a better upgrade. Article below.

      Yes. I recommend the newer Samsung 860 EVO model.
      I only buy Samsung flash memory now. Good performance and reliable. Other SSD brands can be slower speeds, or suddenly stop working when they burn out. Samsung SSD's also have RAPID feature. You will need to check the processor (CPU) regardless. There are different model variations. Can't do much unless you actually own it. If you have to use it, you will need to replace the hard drive. If it's too old, it won't be worth it. Better to buy a 'newer' computer. It can still be used or 2nd hand. Just a better model or CPU.
