Andy McNab is a former member of the British SAS who led Bravo Two Zero during the first Gulf War.
Over his time in the military, Andy conducted counter-terrorist and anti-drug missions in Central America, South America and throughout the Middle East. He also worked undercover in Northern Ireland. He was captured in Iraq on a mission during the first Gulf War in 1991, an experience he recounts in his first book, Bravo Two Zero. Andy was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal (DCM) and Military Medal (MM). At the time he left SAS in 1993, he was the British Army's most highly decorated serving soldier.
In his post-military life, Andy has instructed special operations forces in survival, hostage rescue, and counterterrorism. He was also the technical advisor on the classic action film Heat.
He is the author of the Nick Stone and Tom Buckingham thriller series, the co-author of the Boy Soldier series, and the author of three books about his own military experience: Bravo Two Zero, Seven Troop, and Immediate Action.
Andy’s novel Red Notice was recently adapted into a major motion picture. It is currently available on Netflix as SAS: Rise of the Black Swan.

sigh... has either andy or chris ryan comprehensively address yet the glaring controversy put out by michael asher [himself an ex- sas], and other sas members including the then regimental sgm, in the documentary 'the real bravo two zero'?... i've read the book almost as soon as it was first released in print in early '90s and was enthralled by it, filled me with great respect for andy, et al... and then i saw michael asher's documentary many years later and was GREATLY disturbed by it, to the point of disgust towards andy and chris for such a fabrication of facts at an unforgivable expense of other people including their deceased teammate, his family and some of the iraqis themselves...
it's one thing to author a fictional book using certain true experiences to make it believable but a completely different deed to claim a true narration of events while completely fabricating key facts serving to greatly embellish author's deeds and conduct while simultaneously cast aspersions on dead teammates character and conduct when he's unable to even defend himself against such... and those traits of conduct are especially important within the spec ops community, not to mention the man's surviving closest family...
that documentary pretty much disproves without any doubt the key facts in andy's book, facts which are among the most heroic and awe inspiring in the entire story...
i'd most likely not be able to pass the selection and become a member of the regiment or a similar tier 1 sof outfit, even at my optimal past years of youth and physical ability... andy and chris are undoubtedly extraordinary warriors, just going by their accomplishments and skills alone, but unless they can somehow absolutely disprove this glaring controversy [and i wish so much that they could], their characters will be seriously stained forever as far as i'm concerned...
this should be addressed definitively by any and all who host them on their podcast imo...

We all know they oversold some of the events, but they did have multiple contacts along the way, as bob was shot and Mike coburn was shot, they where obviously firing back, Mike Asher just so happens to meet all the Iraqis involved with bravo two zero. 😆, course he did, his account is probably more fiction than the real events.

you've really hit rock bottom if you are interviewing Andy McNab and his book of lies Bravo Two Zero. go ask his RSM what he thinks about that book.

What would his RSM know? And which one, numpty?

@@katherinehennessy1730 hurling insults isn't a good way to start a discussion and it is clear you don't know anything about the SAS.
Peter Ratcliffe was his RSM and took part in the post war debrief of his mission. McNab and Chris Ryan both wrote books about the mission that are full of lies in order to sell more copies. neither of these men are welcome at SAS events/gatherings

    • @katherinehennessy1730
      @katherinehennessy1730 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@jamesporter1123 My point was that you didn’t specify the RSM in question as there would have been several he would have been ‘familiar’ with during his career.
To say I know nothing of the SAS is actually a compliment as I wouldn’t suggest I did either way. Those that profess to know anything about them are either full of doo doo or served with or alongside them.
I stand with those that choose to keep their gobs shut and maintain a little integrity.
And one further point, some of the best conversations I’ve had began with an insult, not a compliment. ☺
