As a life long guitarist, I can confidently say that Frank Marino is on a whole different level as far as ripping solos go, but what really blows me away is how Frank always hits just the right note at the right time that brings order & understanding to the fact that you just had your mind blown & your face melted off. No matter if he’s shredded the neck or melodically sweet slow & beautiful as he does in “poppy” my favorite instrumental of all time. Frank is a genius guitarist & a great producer also. The only reason he never get the recognition he deserves is because he refused to have the major labels dictated what he should do. Frank is a true artist that has never lost a step playing a guitar. He also has such a great voice that makes him on the same level as Frampton & Clapton, both I adore by the way, can’t shred like Frank. Every electric guitar player who knows anything understands the incredible ability of Frank Marino. 🎸 🤘✌🏻👍

Last night, I first heard of the passing of Jeff Beck and was really affected by it, having been listening to and watching him since the Yardbirds. Always loved him and the many incarnations of his yielding the guitar over the years.
A true, devoted master he is.
I listened to his Live From Ronnie Scotts tonght, seeing and feeling his beautiful technique with a marvelous band. I was completely drained and emotionally spent. Later I needed some balance..
I picked Frank Marino and Mahogany Rush Live at The Agora Theater, playing 'Somethings Coming Our Way' w/Reaction by you, Fish Out Of Water.
A whole different approach, yet sending me into another form of cathartic bliss. Watching your reaction and hearing your comments validated my choice and enhanced the experience.
I've been following Frank just a few years less than Jeff, both leaving their mark on me for life
I just listened/watched two of the finest guitarists God put breath into.
    Thanks FOOW!

Thank you for bringing this to the masses......sometimes, you have to give credit to the masters and FRANK IS THE MASTER. I remember as a teenager hearing the FM & MRush live album in somebody's basement thinking..."I don't know what this dude just did to my brain with I'm a King Bee, but, I knew I was onto something different.....and epic. Holy shit.

      Yessir I saw frank 5x from 86-present
He would play standards and jazz fusion to blow the fkn roof off solos

ive played guitar since 1967, ive been a real effectionato of the instrument
ive really studied it hard for a long long time, ive seen all the great players
    some many times
frank marino is the only guitarist in all that time that TRULY astonished me
you can study all the different styles, learn the repertoires of all the classic players
practice until you are blue in the face
BUT YOU CANT PLAY LIKE THIS UNLESS GOD DECIDES HES GOING TO GIVE YOU THE GIFT

Perfectly said, and I can't play a note on the guitar without help. As a drummer however, I can truthfully say Frank Marino and his God given ability is a true gift to anyone who has an ear for wonderful music

It comes from within, what you are hearing is the man's soul, his humanity, it's a powerful thing and intuitively we all know it when we hear it. Cheers from Vancouver Island Bro.

Arguably the greatest rock and roll guitar player ever. Certainly nobody faster. Interesting thing is as long as his solos are and how fast he plays it never sounds or feels overplayed still has great feeling. His brain is on a whole nother level as far as guitar goes for sure.

One of the all time greats! Many people think Eddie Van Halen is the yardstick by which modern players are measured but Ed's solos don't SING the way Frank's do.

How did i miss this reaction. Frank is widely regarded as one of the best lead guitarist in world by the musician community. Never ever sold out to big record companies and they basically held him down for his career.

the nature of musical improvisation is such that the longer a player goes on soloing the more he exposes
his playing, at some point the player plays all his "licks" and then the listener gets this feeling he's just having to sit through this meaningless rehash of notes,
this goes for EVERY player of EVERY instrument of EVERY style and EVERY musical tradition,
from beginners to the most legendary classic players of all-time,
you have to listen to yourself AND BE VERY CAREFUL to keep it interesting and you do that by DEVELOPING MUSICAL IDEAS THAT HAVE A RELATIONSHIP TO EACH OTHER IN SOME ASPECTS AND DIFFER IN OTHERS, there's a lot of different aspects to music, so there are a lot of different things to play around with
rhythm, harmony, melodic motifs, syncopation, tones colors a lot of different things to use, but it just cant be like a shifting kaleidoscope of random variation, its all got to relate to everything else, the mind has to hear a pattern of development, that's what the mind is A PATTERN FINDING MACHINE, to fascinate the mind you have to give it patterns to find, simple enough too perceive, complex enough to be interesting, that way IT HAS MEANING TO THE MIND, the mind gets to experience its ability decipher the chaotic information he world confronts us with, THATS THE MINDS JOB AND IT TAKES PLEASURE IN BEING ABLE TO DO IT WELL
that's what makes music fun to listen too, the mind taking pleasure in its ability to make sense of the data of the senses,
and this is what makes frank marinos playing so extraordinary
so few people can do what he does, juggle so many lines of development
its like an arabesque painting of endless variation but perfect order
there are no BS filler licks in his playing at all

Your first sentence and the last sentence would have sufficed to get your point across. BUT I think you need to listen to Allan Holdsworth and you will throw that whole pattern mind thing theory out the window !

@@optimus163 If you ask Frank who the best guitarist is, he will say Allan Holdsworth is near or at the top of that list.
