    What are the actual chances of teeth with shorts roots coming out if braces are put on them?

      your dentist will need to take and xray and consider the movements but usually Invisalign is a better option than braces th-cam.com/video/a7xBh9fBNLQ/w-d-xo.html

    Do you think mild to moderate root shortening is okay to go ahead with comprehensive Invisalign?

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes as long as it's not active (like it's been stable in the last few years) AND the invisalign clincheck needs minimize the movements on those teeth , no proclination no round-tripping- if you need help with a plan you can schedule a session at www.straightsmilesolutions.com/services

    My orthodontist never showed me my x-rays or discussed them with me. Braces came off in 2013. This year I had my first panoramic dental xray since then and one tooth has zero roots left, lol. I have no idea if it was like this when i finished braces or if this happened in the 10 years that passed.

      Sorry to hear this- same thing happened to me. And since it's been 10+ years you won't have access to the initial or final records. Hey you might be ok just be careful!

    What if teeth were okay before the ortho treatment, but the ortho treatment has led to some degree of Ortho Induced Inflammatory root resorption, what's the treatment for that? Do we do any treatment or do we just monitor?

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  ปีที่แล้ว

      I often loop perio and endo in to that conversation but similar methods - monitor and discontinue Tx if it progresses

    DA here. Hit too hard on my anteriors, hardly any posterior bite. Resorption on 11 is that to where it is the same length of my centrals. Pretty short. Is there a way to still do ortho and keep that tooth stabilized? Where my head is at, it may be worth losing that tooth to fix everything else.

      Just an update. Doing traditional braces and able to do so because my teeth are straight, bite just needs to be corrected. Hopefully i get braces off in a year with all my roots intact.

    What happens when root resorption was happening under the orthodontic care, but they didn't catch it? nor did yearly x-rays with the braces on? Because I noticed I have severe root resorption.

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      OOOHHH - kinda a grey area. On one hand it's something that would be covered in your inform consent. On the other hand if it's severe and the doctor didn't notice or catch it and remove your braces earlier it could be an issue for the doctor if you made a compliant

    My teeth were good ,only problem that i had was gap , after braces , minor gap is still there but now my upper central incisor's root is resorbed and a bit loose 😓 , which retainer would be good for me ?
    Permanent or transparent?

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish I could give that recommendation but I think you need to visit: an endodontist, a general dentist and an orthodontist. There's a lot of variables that need to be considered here so that team of 3 doctors needs to make your recommendation

  • @samrosen773

    In cases where there are root resorption, would it be okay to treat only the arch that does not have any? I had a pano taken and my front four lower teeth do have resorption and I only care about closing the gap between my front two teeth. It sounds to me from your video that any progression of resorption in treatment will discontinue treatment.

      If you have concerns, best to visit a local orthodontist in your area for a second (or third) opinion. Nothing wrong with that

      I am a female but yes you should get more opinions. For sure for root resorption cases, I would ask an endodontist and also consider aligners over braces

  • @robertrebor7

    My orthodontist took the "do no harm approach" and refuses to continue. He's worried about wiggly incisors but if he doesn't move the teeth, I will have to get them pulled and replaced with implants or go back for a second jaw surgery to correct my malloclusion.
    So for now, I can't chew without crashing my incisors together because my orthodontist is unwilling to recognize the fact that inaction will perpetuate more harm than action would could cause.
    The 40deg proclination on my uppers and 30deg inclination on my lowers makes them nearly unusable anyway. If I pull them, at least I can close my mouth. If I dont, then cyclic loading between everyday use flexing them and then my retainers bringing them back will encourage resorption longterm anyway. He has already done harm in bringing to this point thru his treatment and now refuses to mitigate the error in fears of causing more harm. My mouth is so fubar that I want to pull out my front teeth. I'm 25 so the inconvenience of a pulled incisor pales in comparison to a lifetime of being unable to chew anything more than soft foods without hurting myself.

    I’m a progress patient myself. Currently on invisalign. 1 year in. My ortho told me we’d be stopping treatment for 3 months since our first progress xrays revealed bone loss.
    When you discuss sending a patient with moderate bone loss and/or root resorption. Hereditary or otherwise, will they be better off seeing a periodontist or endodontist for a baseline? You mention endo, but I’ve also been looking at seeing a perio.
    I have been trying to discern which specialist is better at being a secondary doctor that helps to monitor my orthodontic treatment.

    • @Straightsmilesolutions
      @Straightsmilesolutions  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      YOur General Dentist should be the one who decides and facilitates this but usually a periodontist if it's bone loss and an endodontist if it involves root resorption
