To me, this is one of the best pop songs of the last years. these days, no one can really pull off such a great piece of songwriting like bradford cox.
@helmetboy123456 nah, they just 'extended' the line-up for this performance. It's Cole Alexander from the Black Lips on guitar and the keyboardist is Adam Bruneau from the Back Pockets.
Let me just say that I think the reasons that so many bands are compared to Velvet Underground are that 1) The VU was, is, and always will be a seminal force in rock and roll history. It's just an inescapable fact. 2) Therefore, many bands study, idolize, and yes, even imitate and draw upon the VU with clear intent, and there is no shame in that.
I like Rick Wakeman with the cape back there. These guys are such a class act. Almost without exception, their live versions are just as good as studio if not better. How often can you say that?
reminds me far more of red crayola... and many things... but not in a bad way. bit o' Bongwater... then a good dose of New York punk circa 69 to 76... then usually I hear so much Durutti Column in their sound this is a great performance though I like them when they have a crowded stage...
Aquel octubre, tú venías todos los días. Con el olor de las hojas caídas🍂 y mariguana en nuestros bolsillos, nos poníamos a tocar. 🎷 Pero desde que te fuiste, esta ya no es una casa. 😕😥
@Trippylaud there will always be at least one troll on every TH-cam video! Don't mind them and their incessant need to troll. And i agree, Bradford's vocals in this performance are solid. As much as i love theem, his vocals live haven't always been their strongest point imo.
How much effort have you actually put into understanding that warrants your gross generalization of "this generation" and "this songwriting"? You want quality of style? Rilo Kiley, Greensky Bluegrass, Mates of State, Arcade Fire, Grizzly Bear, Lemon Jelly, Maps and Atlases, Nujabes, Royksopp, Gorillaz, Mumford and Sons, Radiohead... I mean, those are all very obvious names. There's *SO MUCH MORE* that I haven't listed, and that I don't even know about. What stinks here, is your attitude.
Explain in great detail what about the chord structure melody, and general arrangement of the song is displeasing. What you have done here is make a very broad statement backed up by no evidence, and it is therefore difficult to take you seriously. If you have a legitimate point I would like you to make it.
Everyone seems on edge or high on a black microdot. The rhythm is way to fast. The song’s short, but the beats here just kick the song along a short path, too fast.
Forgive me but I don't understand the mentality of this generation. This songwriting really stinks. Is there no discernment left in the general public listening audience that apprectiates quality of style, form, arrangment, and melody. Their songs really stink.
Sad that any group of people can make themselves look homeless (which means they're "artistic") and play complete nonsense that my 7 year old can play on guitar and drums as "music" and somehow people see it as some kind of musical genius. It's not. It's horrible. I can't even figure out what they're trying to do.
lmao is this a serious comment? You come off as a very boring "by the books" kind of person. Anything that ever changed anything in the world has been unconventional to the previous paradigm. Especially art. There's no definitive way to describe what an art piece is. It's a piece of your soul manifested through you using what is available to you as a medium. This is what deerhunter produced at this point in time they found themselves in. If your kid ever gets into self expression of any kind they're in for some hard times with your attitude. Try to not be stale as fuck and you might enjoy what other human beings have created.
I miss Deerhunter.
i miss josh fauver

Excellent performance!
Bradford looks so shy at the end
Great performance!
Fauver always had his back to the audience. I totally relate.
ahh! so good. I wish they played a longer so I could watch it longer!
Dave: What'd you think Paul?
Paul: I had an acid flashback...
Is that the black lips guitarist?!? The one with the cap...
Yeah! So cool that they had Cole to do the guitar and harmonica parts for this performance.
I have absolutely listened the shit out of this track........I have a problem. Fucking great live as well.....I like the jam out at the end.
One of the best albums in 2010.
And of all time :)

reminds me far more of red crayola... and many things... but not in a bad way. bit o' Bongwater... then a good dose of New York punk circa 69 to 76... then usually I hear so much Durutti Column in their sound this is a great performance though I like them when they have a crowded stage...
@EuphoricNoise IK! i was shocked when i saw it! and Lockett grew a mustache and shaved it!
paul: "I had an acid flashback"
there's no sadness, its all about happiness!! and life's nothing but a death commercial.. cool noise at the end , LIKE!!!
Aquel octubre,
tú venías todos los días.
Con el olor de las hojas caídas🍂
y mariguana en nuestros bolsillos,
nos poníamos a tocar. 🎷
Pero desde que te fuiste,
esta ya no es una casa. 😕😥
I wish they would've played Desire Lines...
Cole!!!
Sometimes the music is so good that the lyrics don't matter. Just enjoy it. Don't be so obsessive.
@TeewhYThreeD spot on.
lol, "I had an acid flashback"
I love you
its enough to make me want a red drum set, anybody know what kind of guitar, gibson?, gretsch?
I want to hold Bradford in my arms and never let him go
what have the strokes done to the the world?
+Alexis Zaragoza No, I think they were around before the strokes.
Sounds like they've been listening to Clinic.
@EnokiSkai what is it?
Firstly, what would you prefer? Secondly, have you heard "cryptograms"?
who are the two other guys? new members?
@mediacrap hell yeah
@magicmike323 so true about everyone comparing any not well-known band to the VU
@Trippylaud there will always be at least one troll on every TH-cam video! Don't mind them and their incessant need to troll. And i agree, Bradford's vocals in this performance are solid. As much as i love theem, his vocals live haven't always been their strongest point imo.

...wut?
Eh...
1:15 that loser in the background singing along.
jeohlsson He was feeling it! lol
Sounds exactly like Julian Casablancas
Yea, but bradford isnt lame
If I didn;t know any better I would think that 4th graders wrote the songs.
Forgive me but I don't understand the mentality of this generation. This songwriting really stinks. Is there no discernment left in the general public listening audience that apprectiates quality of style, form, arrangment, and melody. Their songs really stink.
go fuck yourself
Kinda a radiohead clone
I guess I'm in the minority here, but this is boring af
