Stop hating on Annette, people. In fact, don't hate on any of the singers. Each one brought their own unique sound to NW and I just don't see what the big deal is and why people are strangling each other through the internet. If you don't like a certain era or album, don't listen to it. Simple.

i agree Tuomas is a music master mind and he picked the songs that will enhance the attributes of each singer i can not imagine Tarja singing song of my self or bye bye beautiful or Annette singing walking in the air or sleeping sun an the new album whit Floor is beautiful there is no i in nightwish all of them are the band Marco Enpuu Jukka Floor and Tuomas

Annete was awesome. Her two albums are fucking amazing. Shows a lot about the talent of Tuomas and his compositions, the music he wrote for her to sing is stellar.

Annette's studio version is nice and sweet. I think my grand children will like it. But I much prefer Floor's live version from Wacken. My daughter and I saw Floor singing Storytime in Wembley, London two weeks ago. What an experience!

Anette's performance here is mind blowing not just music-wise, but also in artistic terms. This dark fairy she personifies is really something!

Anette got a lot of hate because she wasn't Tarja, but songs like these suit both her and the band perfectly. Although she couldn't do songs such as Ghost love Score, her voice helped Nightwish to evolve as a band and create a more complex sound.

I'm a new Nightwish fan and after reading comment sections of various Nightwish songs, I think I'm one of those few who like all the three lead singers

I like all the singers as well. However, I won’t lie, Imaginaerum was the last Nightwish album I’ve fully listened to. I kinda lost interest when Annette got booted and what I heard of EFMB just didn’t do it for me.

Yea, she didnt have the vocal range or power of the other singers, past and present, but her voice was perfectly suited to the songs they chose, and very melodic. Like if a disney princess sand heavy metal, and I mean that as a compliment.
A lot of fans really have panned Annette. But the songs she did with Nightwish will stand the test of time. Especially for me the song Amaranth. It’s beautiful yet powerfull. A rock ballade possibly. It should be part of the set more

That's cause he composed it with her vocal style in mind. With dark passion play he had already been composing so it didn't necessarily fit her voice as well as this album
She’s the most under-appreciated vocalist, but the two albums she was in are Nightwish’s peak songwriting. This song alone tops the next two albums they have made, with the exceptions of tracks, The Greatest Show on Earth, Endlessness, and Pan. With that said, Anette original’ed Nightwish’s best offerings. :)
They all brought their own unique sound to Nightwish. Be it Tarja, Annette, or Floor. Even Marco and Troy. They all have left a mark, all are exceptionally talented singers. I thank all members of the band, for the music and the great memories that go o with all of their songs.

This song was and is a blast, it fits Annette's voice very well and she kills it. The whole album Imaginaerum was masterpiece just like Dark Passion Play. Annette brought a lot of fresh air and contributed greatly, just as Tarja did and Floor now does. Pure talent and hard work coming from all of them for us to enjoy and not to bitch about. Enjoy music, people. ❤️

The glint in Anette's eyes when she bite into the apple is pure mischief . Nightwish have had three very talented lead singers who took the band forward onto bigger things . They all have their own different styles which are stunning and powerful . Tarja . Anette and Floor have bought their own style to Nightwish and they have all made Nightwish who they are today a totally outstanding band which I never tire listening to .
For a reason I don't know I just learned about this song in Oct 2022. Since then I listen to it every day. And when the orchestra hits at 2:12 I'm all tears. Every single time. I had the chance of seeing them live and guess what? Couldn't hold the tears again. FFS, how is that possible? This song comes with me until my last breath. Thanks Nightwish 🙌🏻

I read somewhere (some months ago) that Floor had already been in the band longer than Nettie ever was, and I was SO DUMBSTRUCK.
I still feel like this video came out just a while ago.
I will never forget the first time I heard this album, I was on my way to work very early in the morning, I have had few such exciting trips on a bus.

I've been a Nightwish-fan since 2005 and honestly I never understood the hate Annette received. Her heavily pop-influenced style allowed the band to play with other sounds and vibes compared to Tarja's heavy operatic vocals and it forced Tuomas and the rest of the band to up their own game to keep the high quality going on. Also, Annette's voice is just plain nice. It's crisp and clear with good control and range.
That being said, she does struggle with keeping the volume consistent I feel like.

Love all the albums nightwish have ever made and been a loyal fan since day #1, but this one really special album. It really takes you somewhere. You can watch each video released, or, close your eyes and listen to the CD and either way, you are in wonderland. Not many albums can do that. This is one of those very special few.

Imaginaerum was written specifically for Annette's voice; no one will ever sing the songs off it better than she will. That's just how it is. This album and Dark Passion Play got me into Nightwish
I agree. I generally prefer Floor, especially for songs like Last Ride of the Day, but I do think Annette's voice is best for this song.
Be it Tarja or Annette, Nightwish will always be my favorite band. Remember people, we support the entire band, not just the singer, past or present.
Tarja is the only singer for Nightwish. Anything after her they should have changed the name to Fairygiggles or AnalaFantasy or something.

Being a metalhead that's not into symphonic metal nor Nightwish (I first listened the with Tarja, didn't like it and decided to forget their existence till now) I really don't understand the whole problem with Annette. Yes, her voice is kind of pop-ish but come on... she is not the first singer in symphonic metal with a pop-ish voice/style (Amaranthe anyone?... and this is from the top of my head). Yes, I can understand the issue for the band about her having problems performing Tarja's catalog but Annette does have a good voice. I just listened Imaginaerum and I do think its a good album which was a surprise for me. She does a really good job on it and have a hard time picturing Tarja or even Floor performing the character as well in songs like Scaretale. Annette's voice and the way she sings on it just suits the song perfectly. Having heard Floor's and Annette's versions of Storytime I kind of like a bit more Annette's. Back again yes, I do think that Floor is way more versatile than Annette as a singer which gives her the ability to give songs so many layers while performing, IMHO the more "simple" approach and voice of Annette serves the song better.

To me, this is Nightwish in their prime and Anette’s time in the band is probably my favorite era even though that is not a popular opinion to have. She brought such diversity/character and her voice was used in so many ways.
They are all amazing musicians and hope them to have continued success, but the newer albums with Floor have been very underwhelming to me and I feel they aren’t using her vocally the way I thought. They seem to be going more into the experimental folk direction while Anette’s new solo stuff and Dark Element project actually have more of an edge and power metal vibes like OLD Nightwish (Oceanborn/Wishmaster era).
It’s all personal preference, but I have always found Anette to be criminally underrated/undervalued.
Heh.. if you filter out the noise on TH-cam, you will find your opinion to be shared by A LOT of Nightwish fans. The band definitely hit their peak of creativity with Anette in the band, and compared to Floor's two albums with them, they are miles apart. As you say, their albums with Floor is very underwhelming as a whole.
Still like Nightwish the most with Tarja. Simply because it was more unique in my view and I like opera ;)

Chiming in because I just got done defending Anette on a different video. The Floor fanboys are tough to deal with sometimes. But I assume they're probably young/new-to-the-band and haven't taken the time to get to know Tarja and Anette. Floor might technically be the best of the three (she's amazing, really!), but like some of the others have said, Nightwish's latest albums are... *meh* (I know- heresy, but, that's how I feel). Difficult for me to get all the way through Human. :II: Nature in one sitting. I was on the edge of joining the digital concert and after hearing the album, I'm glad I saved my money. Maybe it'll grow on me over time. However it goes, the Floor-only fanboys need to realize there's a whole wonderful back catalog of Nightwish that deserves love and attention as well.
Of course Anette will go more towards power metal, she's working with Jani Limataiinen. I hope that alliance someday brings to reality a duet Anette -Timo Kotipelto. I don't know why I've always wanted that since the first time I heard her.

I love the current line-up, and now I'm also discovering the history, and that of course everyone who was in the band has stamped their own personality and specific genius onto it. One thing I love about every era is how good composer Tuomas is (not only talking about the lyrics). It doesn't matter who was singing he made the perfect songs for them. Dark Passion Play had it's ups and downs because it was already writed (for Tarja's voice) but every single one of the singers' voices had their special moments and fits in their albums. I'm a Nightwish fan since day 1 and I love all of the singers that were part of their history (even when Tarja is my favourite singer beside all of this)

As a symphonic/power metal fan who consumed a lot of material from pre-2010s, I can easily say that Tuomas is a master in his field.

It was this song on Sirius XM that hooked me on Nightwish... Every singer has brought their own charm and style, and each song is written for their voices. In 2013 my wife and I arouse from the stage at our Wedding Reception and walked down the steps to the dance floor to this song. It was so amazingly beautiful and was such a surprise for the guest. My wife has sense passed on but I still love to play this song and remember the most amazing day of my life.
People can hate whatever they want and be miserable if they want. But I really enjoyed both albums with Annette, they are really good albums and the balads sounds beautiful with her voice.
Stand your ground and never surrender! Resist the mob. We can all love Floor without hating Anette. Without Anette, there may have never been a Floor-led Nightwish.
Annette is my favorite Nightwish era. Maybe I’m biased because it was Amaranth that introduced me to NW. It introduced me to Tarja’s era as well. I’ve heard Floor and she sounds great, but I haven’t really been into NW much since Imaginaerum. What little I heard of the album after that just didn’t really appeal to me.
This song - It's spooky, it's scary, it's fantasy, it's pirate-y, it's steampunk-y, it's adventure-y, it's metallic, it's operatic, it's artistic, it's melodic, it's absolutely FANTASTIC!!!
The more I listen to the latest Nightwish material, the more I appreciate this stuff and everything before. And the more I grow to like Anette and reconsider some of my earlier impressions about her.

As much as I love Floor and hearing the song from her chrods first, as it was with quite a lot of other NW songs, I don't mind admitting that the video fits Anette perfectly and in terms of how it sounds...it sounds just as good as when Floor sings it. Nightwish is not just one person :)

i have loved all 3 iterations of Nightwish,
the Tarja era was awesome, you can feel the youthfulness of the band in their rapid riffs
the Annette era was awesome with a more "pop" sound, playfulness and experimentation with things like jazz
the Floor era is awesome with a delicious blend of everything that came before and even more experimentation.

3 to be accurate:
Founding member and 1st singer Tarja Turunen, her style was an Operatic/Classical approacj
Annette, this one, 2nd singer that came after Tarja left the Band in End of na Era, her style is more Pop/Rock than classical.
Finally, the current Vocalist, Floor Jansen, ex-vocalist of ReVamp and After Forever, she can sing anything, from Opera, Classical, Pop, Rock, even growling and gutural. She's known to the fans as the Warrior Valkyre Goddess of NightWish
Anette is the best looking singer in this bands history. I think it is nice to look at a beautiful singer like her and she can sing good 😘

Annette really brought something to the band and she’s great in this. But IMO Floor elevates this song in the live recordings - brings an extra aggression that fits it so well, without losing its subtlety, makes it even more special.
I agree with everything you said and then some. When this song is played live and sung by Floor it makes the album version sound completely generic. Same thing goes for The Greatest Show on Earth. I hate the album version but I love the live one.

IMO this is his lyrical best. I just love the lyrics to this song. It kicks ass musically as well. I love hearing it live! The live version is so much better than the album version.

I just heard this song for the first time on the P.A. just before a Babymetal concert last night. Loved it!! And I've been trying to find it ever since. Nightwish seemed like the right vibe and a few hours of searching and I've finally found it!! Found me a new band in the process.
