I was looking at another person's videos on cartomancy (while waiting for your next one).. and this person's interpretations of the suits didn't make sense at all (clubs as air, diamonds as fire, spades as earth.the only one that resonated was hearts as water). Will stick with yours..they make sense and resonate. Maybe after this series you might talk about the elements and how they relate to each other? Anyway thanks and looking forward to your next video!
Thanks for watching the video, J! What you bring up about the elemental correspondences reminds me of how it was for me starting out with playing cards. Everyone seemed to have something different to say, and that included elemental associations. I found the same thing with Tarot, in that people would switch fire and air with Wands and Swords, with some seeing Swords as fire and Wands as air. I could understand the logic, but it was confusing too. My correspondences are similar to the ones I use with Tarot because they make sense to me that way. For me, Diamonds are Earth, because I think of diamonds being mined in a cave; they literally come from the earth. Spades I relate to Air, because I associate the suit with problem-solving and decision making, which are mental processes. Hearts are Water, because our feelings and emotions are so fluid. And Clubs are Fire, because any thing that we put effort into, there has to be a certain amount of passion and enthusiasm to "get the job done." I figured I'd share those now, so you wouldn't have to wait. I hope that helps you. :-)
It is funny how everyone has different associations for the suits. For me when I think of Clubs, I think of the 3-leaf clover design on the cards, and to me clovers are those little green weeds growing in the ground/earth and since clubs are associated with money and business, I think of pentacles = earth = clubs. As for the suit of Diamonds, I think of sparkling diamonds, which for me sparks = fire, just like the stars that sparkle in the night sky like diamonds are actually far away distant suns, thus I think of fire = wands. For Spades I actually think of a shovel that we associate with earth, but I also think of the arrowhead at the tip of a spear that gets thrown through the air and pierces like a sword = air. And the easy one is Hearts = emotions = water = cups! So in essence, there are not right or wrong answers because the cards responds to each individual's association anyway, right? 🤗 💛
Exactly, Cheryl! That's why I encouraged everyone who watched the first video to think about what associations they might have for each suit, and why. That way, a system is being created that makes sense to the individual. And thanks for sharing your personal associations for the suits; with the explanations you gave, I can clearly see/understand them! ;-)
