    I know this video is so old but from someone who will be learning guitar soon and using capo on fret 2 OFTEN, this was very helpful

    No one has explained this to me better than you and I gigged across the country for 5 years. Maybe they were just trying to seem smarter than they were. Can’t be letting that drummer kid look as smart as us….God bless you and your humble pie! Looking forward to following.

    Hey Tom! I have another question for you. One of my favorite chords on guitar is 054030 in standard tuning. The only problem is... I don't know what it's called. It's like playing a C major chord, only the whole shape is moved two frets up on a capo-free neck. Can you shed some light on the name, please? :)

      Casey Frye Well if you are playing the low E string open it would be Em9, EGBDF#, except there would be no B. If the 5th fret of the A string was the bottom note, x54030 it would be a D(add 2)(add4) chord, or D2/4 or something like that. If you add your pinky on the first string and play it thusly, x54035, I would call that a D4 chord. DF#GA.

    so the only way to play a C#M with the capo oon the 2nd fret is a bar chord?

    • @TomStrahle
      @TomStrahle  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      LARRYCORY1 Like a B chord in open position there are not many easy ways to play it. Besides the x24442 (capoed fret equals 0), you could play the E form, 799877, or a sus form using some open strings - x24400, or mute the top note on that one to get a C#5 chord, no third, x2440x. Or play C#7, x21202. I do have two videos on my Basics channel about playing B and Bb chords.
