If only this franchise got the chance to progress in feature length films. So much potential was wasted. I hope all of the "hardcore" elitist fans are happy.
Im right there with you, the godzilla fanbase for some reason can't accept a bad version of the character exists so they try to immaturely deny it by calling it something else then the director of final wars gets the idea to play along with the joke and make a whole new trademark monster trying to retcon this was ever Godzilla. Even though it still is because in Japan it's called Toro Goji and merchandise of the character is still made and called Toro Goji or Godzilla 1998. Not Zilla. You know the Nintendo fanbase didnt call the super mario bros movie "The bros movie" because it "Shamed" the name Super Mario. And everyone who says the production team was at fault for this film and that "Toho" would have never allowed this if they knew what was going on. Except they did, and also approved the script and everything in this film. There's a popular myth floating around that one of the rules was Godzilla couldnt die, and the filmmakers here broke it. Which is not the case, the rule was Godzilla couldnt permanently die and he doesnt because the last egg was supposed to be the main godzilla for the rest of this film series. They never said "A Godzilla" couldnt die, which is why they approved him being killed. Also what's funny is the most recent version of Godzilla in Japan reproduces asexually through cell division, and in the first anime film a Godzilla is killed with a drill missile. So I find most people's arguments why this version of the character is bad as just hypocritical, especially when the actual company behind Godzilla seems to like a lot of this version's traits. Not to mention, not everyone in japan and the rest of the world hated this film. Hideo Kojima creator of Metal Gear Solid loves this Godzilla, so much so he based Metal Gear Ray off it and even had a reference to the 98 film in Metal Gear Solid 2. So too many G-fans have their heads up their own butt when it comes to this film.
@@jackepong6300 lol if you think a bad version of a character is acceptable then you don't understand how important it is to maintain respect towards any source material. We godzilla fans can accept different interpretations of godzilla but collectively we agree godzilla 1998 doesn't hit any marks as a godzilla outside of its nuclear origin which can apply to many monsters so isn't not that original or that definitive with godzilla's background. Even the most radically different godzillas being gmk, shin, earth and ultima all at least have features or characteristics in design or powers or personalities that make us think *"Yeah this godzilla is different but still works"* meanwhile this creature has ZERO resemblance to godzilla in design, powers or personality. It's why the animated sequel is more well loved than this and why we see this as a separate monster movie but not in a bad way
I am a big fan of Godzilla 1998, and this is perfect music is perfect for the iron giant 5e animated series when Godzilla is captured so that he may help with the energon mutant problems. This series will star our monster hunters which are robots like the iron giant. Their duty is to destroy monsters created by an evil alien race known as the scrive. In the first episode, the iron giant is seen lifting Godzilla as a godzillasaurus while in space. The the warhead explodes when they collide with it. Godzilla comes crashing back to earth. The sinks to the bottom of the ocean as he starts to mutate. The pieces of the iron giant come crashing into the frozen north.
It's not that bad to be honest, either film, but of course the fans won't hear due to this not being "Godzilla" what a bunch of pious asses. Also I see this one's off spring as being a perfect rival to the original Godzilla.
Zilla is a very under rated Kaiju for a couple of reasons. First people need to stop ranting about him, it has been almost 20 years now since the 1998 movie appeared in stores. Get over it. Second Zilla is not Godzilla in my eyes. He is another completely different Kaiju and does not deserve the title "Godzilla'.
@@classictoyreviews7435 What about the death of Joe's Wife in 2014? Serizawa's Sacrifice? Mothra's Death? They looked pretty sad to me. Not to mention Godzilla falling in Mt. Mihara and Godzilla dying in the Heisei era. Other Godzilla films have sad scenes too. I did not cry at Zilla's death, but i respect that u like Zilla.
@@godzillalover3445 they all felt flat as it really didnt add to the overall feeling of the movie. Iike when zilla died, nick kinds had a bitter sweet moment vs in later godzilla movies we say them die alot. It just kind of became over used vs seeing it for the first time. The newer legendary films focus too much on the law of nature to have an emotional connection. Now older godzills movies had him more in a light if antihero so it felt less vapid when he died
@@classictoyreviews7435 oh look we have a toho purist who forgot toho also used the concept of "force of nature" and applied it to godzilla before legendary did 🤦. Godzilla barely dies in this franchise and is an anti hero in the MV so what is even this baseless point you're trying to make?. G98 doesn't get godzilla right as a character, case and point. There's no soul of godzilla to be found here. Fun monster flick but there's no spirit of godzilla here
I both like and hate this movie. I like it for the nostalgia and the music is David Arnold's best, imo. But the filmmakers had no idea what they wanted the audience to feel and it shows in David Arnold's music. The score sees the film similar to the audience that we're supposed to be sympathetic towards Godzilla with bold and tragic musical sweeps as Godzilla was always fleeing and just seemed to want to eat and protect its babies. But then the filmmakers are constantly trying to make us feel happy when the humans bomb all the babies and kill Godzilla in the end as if Godzilla was an evil monster hell-bent on killing all of the humans in the city. The film is kinda mean-spirited. The music is excellent, though.
The thing is that Gino as they call him, or Godzilla in name and actually some G fans will admit in sound only. Well, the thing is that he's realistic because he's alive. He breaves, he grouls, he does that moning stuff, and yes when he's hurt or fritened he does those girlly slash baby crying like screems. I almost felt next to nothing for the Tokyo Godzilla. I do kind of now knowing that he's being drilled and then being zapped in the wounds. But, had it not been for my nephew telling me all this, I wouldn't much give a mutha fuck. The thing that made me care so damb much about Gino and almost made wish I'de been there to some how get him unstuck is those crys of pain. With Gino, it's real, it's on man. Pluss, the chourus as you heard here really plays into it.
You obviously haven't seen the original 1954 "Gojira". It can't get darker then that. I mean, the scenes after the 1st raid on Tokyo, just....damn.... Although I do agree with you that the following movies were a lot less dark and realistic, I just find Toho's movies a lot better than this film. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean I think this film is a piece of crap like most people. I did enjoy the chase scenes and I loved Zilla's design. This is a great giant-monster flick, just not a Godzilla one.
This is sadder than E.T going home or the death of the Iron Giant- the cry Zilla does before dying gets me tearing up everytime. Asshole humans... And still, the "Fans" bitch about this film... Get over it, Final Wars was more of an insult than this one- AND that had a shite-load of classical Kaiju in it... Godzilla gets what, about twenty minutes of screen-time? Terrible film. =_=
Lol godzilla final wars was embracing the campy side of the franchise, how is that an insult to anything?. G98 didn't get a lick of anything related to godzilla correct. Godzilla in 2004 got 13 minutes of screentime meanwhile zilla here got 11-12. On average godzilla having 10-15 minutes of screentime is his normal screentime in most films.
I think in a time when there are muli-verse verisons of characters like Dr. Strange and Spider-Man, I think its time to accept this Zilla as a Godzilla. He is different, but still part of the family. One of the "spider-men" in one of the movies was a girl and her robot. I think the same fun logic can be applied here.
TheBigG1997 What? What? The same film???? Did the 98 film have the MUTOS, the story of the military hunting down three monsters fighting each other while two try to procreate, with a Godzilla that looks like the original Godzilla? I’m sorry. How in hell are the 98 and 2014 film the same film? They have next to nothing in common except the title!
Cartoon Network/Disney XD Superheroes, to save you time on reading paragraphs here's s video that covered the similarities I saw. 2014 made a few changes to make it look new, not saying it's bad, because every movie since the dawn of cinema has been a remix. All I'm saying 2014 is nothing original for a Godzilla movie. th-cam.com/video/OWBrQkqeK20/w-d-xo.html If you do some looking you'll see similarities between A New Hope and The Force Awakens.
TheBigG1997 You do realize those videos aren’t supposed to be taken seriously, right? And that they compare the broadest plot points. For fucks sake, they did a video saying X-men first class and big hero 6 were the same movie. He doesn’t seriously mean they’re the same movie, he just pointed out similarities and uses the title to grab people’s attention.
Cartoon Network/Disney XD Superheroes, like I said I sent you the video because I didn't want bore you with paragraphs, a lot of people I deal with have short attention spans. I'm not copying what he said, I'm saying because its me. I went saw the movie the day it came out and was pretty much a copy and paste of the 98 Godzilla with a few minor changes to make it seem new. It's nothing to ashamed of because creation requires influence. Everything we make is remix. I can tell you why the original Star Wars trilogy, The first Matrix movie, and Happy Gilmore are the same. But you don't want here it we can end this conversation now and just agree to disagree.
1981 movie. I can never really sit through it, find the story pretty weak (then again, I feel that way about a lot of movies with Ray Harryhausen effects) but love the look and the music.
And the argument "they were trying to make him more realistic" doesn't stand to reason, either. Godzilla, all-in-all, isn't just supposed to be a monster walking around blowing sh*t up. He's a symbol of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima: an unstoppable force of mass destruction and radiation. Killing him off by military means just insults the whole idea.
Here, I'll explain it: people hate this film because it bears the name "Godzilla". The creature in this film looks nothing like Godzilla & lacks his character traits. The real Godzilla takes missiles, rockets, lasers, you name it and does't even flinch. He actually BREATHES fire, and doesn't just scream at cars for them to blow up. Godzilla fans expected their favorite monster to be a badass like he was in countless films, but ended up seeing a creature now named Zilla die by a mere 12 missiles.
This Godzilla was innocent 😢😥 4:05. My eyes went tears when I was young.😢🐉

It's why the animated sequel is more well loved than this and why we see this as a separate monster movie but not in a bad way
The Entire OST Slaps Like KOTM

The Cost of Living was too high for even Godzilla to make it in Brooklyn.

David Arnold Isolated Score Big G Goes To Monster Heaven
Ok I would have liked it if tristar never gave the creature the name Godzilla
sometimes the humans are the real monsters murduring a poor innocent godzilla and his family damn that is heartbroken

The best godzilla ever. I dont understand all the hate for it!
Super controversial. I believe that the 1954 Goji is the best. Without him, you wouldn't even have Zilla.
If this is the best godzilla film for you then you definitely don't understand godzilla's background if you don't understand the hate behind it
I cried when big g died(=(
RIP Zilla

It's not that bad to be honest, either film, but of course the fans won't hear due to this not being "Godzilla" what a bunch of pious asses. Also I see this one's off spring as being a perfect rival to the original Godzilla.
2:12 hey wasn’t that song in the Zathura main menu on dvd?
Yes it is.

Rest in piece Godzilla 2018 was the 20th anniversary of Godzilla now 2020 your 22😥.
I feel bad for the big g
Direct hit, but the target is still moving, sir!
Sounds Independence Day!
Same composer
Same director
also sounds a main menu from zathura.
This movie had way more emotion and soul than the legendary movies ever did,and probably ever will.
Serizawa saving Godzilla with the Oxygen Destroyer: (Exists)
@@godzillalover3445 well 54 original japan release had more emotion than any other godzilla will ever have, but legendary has none of it
@@classictoyreviews7435 What about the death of Joe's Wife in 2014?

Yes it is.
3:32 😭😭😭😭😭😭
It is almost as sad as The Death Of Godzilla from 1995!!!

Yes
Rest an peace Godzilla goes to Heaven.

What if it was NukiTYP5 Jaeggyzilla in The NukiTYP5 Regular Show 2007 Movie...?
This thing have High Beams?

Enola Ayakashi
Not to Mention Zilla Dies the moment he appears I'm telling you that poor Kaiju gets no love
lighting the way I know it's so sad!, Zilla and his movie deserve more love!
Yes sadder then E.T seeing Godzilla Die like that makes me wanna Cry.
Yep :(
what you think of Godzilla 2014 design ?
NukiTYP5 Regular Show 2007

1:49: ok gun it gun it go go go gun it!
I love godzilla 1998 so much but it make me upset he die
I think in a time when there are muli-verse verisons of characters like Dr. Strange and Spider-Man, I think its time to accept this Zilla as a Godzilla. He is different, but still part of the family. One of the "spider-men" in one of the movies was a girl and her robot. I think the same fun logic can be applied here.
2:52: stallion 1-5 tally one on the bridge
Epic.
Cool
I don't suppose there's a way to download this?
This movie was good but Godzilla 2014 told a better story.
MagicianMovies1992 98 and 2014 are the same exact film
All I'm saying 2014 is nothing original for a Godzilla movie.
th-cam.com/video/OWBrQkqeK20/w-d-xo.html
If you do some looking you'll see similarities between A New Hope and The Force Awakens.
I Liked
The music is better than the actual movie...much like the soundtrack for the original Clash of the Titans.
The original Clash of the Titans is one of my favorite movies, and it has really great music.
ThePmbstudios I like the special effects and music but the story is kinda 'eh' for me...like this one, actually.
Themaniacnextdoor are talking about the 1981 movie (I like) or the 2010 movie(I dislike)?
1981 movie. I can never really sit through it, find the story pretty weak (then again, I feel that way about a lot of movies with Ray Harryhausen effects) but love the look and the music.
Themaniacnextdoor well if that's your opinion, i'll respect it.
0:25: sir he’s heading toward the Brooklyn Bridge/target’s heading toward the Brooklyn Bridge sir../direct the F-18s to the Brooklyn Bridge
Sounds very sad!!!
There were many things wrong with this movie. The score was not one of them.
Godzilla 98 is more worthy of being called Godzilla than most Godzillas anyone who says otherwise is coping
2:51 godzilla dead 😢
Here, I'll explain it: people hate this film because it bears the name "Godzilla". The creature in this film looks nothing like Godzilla & lacks his character traits. The real Godzilla takes missiles, rockets, lasers, you name it and does't even flinch. He actually BREATHES fire, and doesn't just scream at cars for them to blow up. Godzilla fans expected their favorite monster to be a badass like he was in countless films, but ended up seeing a creature now named Zilla die by a mere 12 missiles.
