I made a video using Viking weaving with flat stone without holes, but the product made by that method has little strength.

So I have found another way to make the product more durable and can be applied to most flat stone shapes, especially angled cabochons (square, diamond, rectangular. ..)
The length and size of the wire to use depends on the size of the stone you want to make.
For common stone sizes 1-2cm x 1.5-3cm can use a wire with a diameter of 0.6 - 0.8mm (22 gauge - 20 gauge) and a length of 6 -10cm.
Winding wire should use a wire with a diameter of 0.3mm ( 28 gauge) for easy manipulation, depending on the number of wraps, the length of the wire is 20-40cm.
Use tape to fix the wire to the stone, making it easier to handle.
Use sewing needles to wire is easier to pass through
With drop stone, the pointy end is easy to slip, so wrap wire around the sharp end to avoid falling stone
In the video I use :
20 gauge ( wire diameter 0.8mm ) : 8cm( 3 inch)
28 gauge ( wire diameter 0.3mm ) : 40cm( 16 inch)
The rectangular cabochon is 1,2 x 1,7cm
*** Don't be discouraged if you don't succeed the first time, with the new template, I have to try many times before it succeeds, even if it's a simple one.

These are beautiful. I have a very hard time making bezel settings for my cabs - they just never turn out right no matter how long I’ve practiced - so I’m always on the lookout for different methods of setting them. I appreciate the inset pictures on the video, that show the end result of each step before you do it. Excellent work all around!

I haven't even tried wrapping cans yet. I have plenty of acrylic cans to practice with.
I have a difficult time with bezels also. This channel is very helpful with all kinds of styles. I don't have any undrilled stones, but the beads I use look just as nice, even though they are acrylic or plastic.

OH MY GOODNESS! WHO KNEW WIRE WRAPPING COULD BE SO SIMPLE AND NOT SO DIFFICULT TO MAKE BEAUTIFUL PATTERNS! I mean I've been enjoying making different patterns but COULD NEVER on purpose duplicate ANYTHING! The SIMPLE piece of tape blew my mind because for #1, I could never get the stone to be still and behave itself! It kept slipping and I see only practice (and a piece of tape) helps with that! LOL. I'm so excited to try this! Thank you for TAKING the time to show me (I take this personally). You are now another person I am "thankful" for! Blessings to you and yours everyday!
