Love that he shared his approach as a bishop. I’ve saved it to use with my kids but it’s good advice for any relationship. L isten A sk V alidate A ffirm
Lovely interview! “if they don’t feel the love of the Savior when they walk out of my office, I didn’t do my job.” And, “the Savior stayed on the ground with her.” Beautifully expressed!
I have so much love and compassion for people who feel like they don’t fit in. Who feel like they are being looked down on / judged. I’ve been an active member a majority of my life and I feel all those things also. I feel profoundly inadequate. I disappoint people because of my weaknesses. But I’m trying not to give up. I’m trying to do my callings. And that’s all any of us can do. We do our best and lean on Jesus Christ to help make-up where we lack. Thank you for this excellent podcast. Thank you for sharing your trials and tribulations. I’m so sorry for all the pain and sorrow you and your wife went through. I think it’s amazing you were able to adopt 2 children who are your children in every sense of the word. I love this! Thank you Ashly, thank you Bishop. If I had not moved to Idaho, when and where I did, I would have not found the perfect Bishop for me. He was a recovering alcoholic just like me. We had a great relationship and he understood me and did not judge me harshly. If not for him I don’t think I would have came back. Sometimes miracles happen. Hey Bishop everyone gets to there family one way or another. I’m adopted and my patriarchal blessing confirms that. Pug you head down and keep pushing to make the right directions in our life. That’s all we can do.
I have had experiences that I would never have asked for nor would I want anyone to have to experience. I am however grateful for them because they have made me stronger and able to empathize and understand others pain. I’ve made amazing lifelong friends while going through some of my most difficult moments. Thank you for being a wonderful example and Bishop for the lucky Church members in Gilbert.
Rajiv thank you for your insights. Thank You for pushing that everyone needs to talk about what they are going through. I strongly believe that we don't discuss mental health enough. I am getting to learn many things from having mental illness and I get to have shock therapy because antidepressants don't work for me.
Thank you for this interview! There were so many take aways. One thing about the question "why do bad things happen to good people", a few years ago at a stake conference the area authority talked about this and it has stuck with me. He said who says it bad? God tells us that all things shall work together for our good. If we are willing to learn and grow through the trials of life, then it will work together for our good. It changed my perspective.

Before Braille!
Oh sweet, I was going to do some major digging to find out if it wasn’t mentioned. Emo kid here so I immediately needed to know.
What was the name of the person he quoted about the sandbox? I couldn't understand the name.
Melissa Inouye - She recently passed away from cancer but has published a book and appeared on multiple podcasts.
I got a ticket!
