    And there I go riding the tank car! The 2 weekend's of the grand reunion were an absolute BLAST and I'm so honored to have been able to take part in it for being brakemen. Next time you see me I may be a firemen, or even an engineer!

      @@bryceweeks7685 Ok. Glad to hear you and the volunteers stay safe. Your musam is a bit far for me to travel to volunteer at but i want to go and visit agan. Just out of curiosity, Did you meet twins by the names of Connor and Colin from the Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum? They are some friends of mine and they said they were planning on working at this event with the steam locomotives.

      @@jacobramsey7624 ahh the ginger twins. I've known Connor and Cullen for quite some time, but I haven't seen them recently and they weren't at the grand reunion. And they weren't at Carnaval. I think the last time I saw them was the Springfield show last year. I do hope to see them soon but I know they are both busy. I'll be down to Maine narrow gauge this summer at times and I hope I'll see them there.

    I am so thrilled of the amount of hard work and dedication it took from the volunteers to make this event possible. It's great to see Maine's heritage and past being re-created/resurrected in the current generation. This is truly a sight to see, wish I was there to witness it with my family.

    • @swatiyadav640
      @swatiyadav640 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      By 6 you would mean Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes #6, which was also Kennebec Central #4, and present day Wiscasset, Waterville and Farmington #9 which is the little locomotive you see from time to time running behind Brigton and Saco River #7

    How long will it take to rebuild W.W&FRy #11? Also does it use walschaerts Valve gear, and is it similar to Brigton and Saco River #7?

    • @DynamoProductions-trains
      @DynamoProductions-trains  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s no timeline for the #11 building, although it seems that they want the 10 rebuilt first. The 11 will be a replica of WW&F 7, which had Stephenson valve gear. wwfry.org/?page_id=160

    How would could someone get a job as an train engineer? What schooling, training, etc?

    • @kylevice6768
      @kylevice6768 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No schooling need necessarily. You get hired as a conductor first and work your way up. CSX is currently hiring in the south and BNSF is hiring in the northwest

    • @kylevice6768
      @kylevice6768 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      But I think having a diesel mechanic certification helps get you through the door quicker.

    • @WesternMaryland-rd1gd
      @WesternMaryland-rd1gd 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also worth considering is time frame for getting certified as an engineer, which can vary greatly. Largely depends on what railroad you get hired by and what their need for engineers is. I know guys who went over 15 years as a conductor and still didn't have the seniority to get engineer certified. Meanwhile another group of guys I know working across the river for another railroad (who got hired the same year) were engineer certified a year after being hired as conductors. Also, some railroads will fire you if you can't pass engineer certification tests; if you can't be engineer, they don't want you as conductor either. And yet more to consider, some railroads force you to relinquish conductor seniority if you get engineer certified, which you should consider as you move to the bottom of the engineer board; putting you first up for furloughs if they layoff.

      @@WesternMaryland-rd1gd It's Norfolk Southern who you have to qualify as engineer if you're conductor if I remember correctly. This is primarily due to the fact that they operate their locomotives in a different standard most other railroads due to lack of spaces to get turned around so the crews had to "long nose" a locomotive when hauling loads.

    Wow is right! What a amazing show of foot Gage steam. I enjoyed the video a lot and there were many opportunity's for photos that would look great on calendars and postcards. Just out of curiosity, was there a little 0-4-0 tank engine? in a add for the event it said that a little 2 foot tank locomotive was going to be there. Also why was Monson #4 and B&SR #8 there if they were not operational?

    • @WWFRailway
      @WWFRailway 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The 0-4-0 S.D. Warren locomotive, owned and operated by Boothbay Railway Village, was unable to attend the "Grand Reunion" due to a mechanical issue. Monson #4 and B&SR #8 (both owned by Maine Narrow Gauge RR Co. & Museum) are on display at the WW&F as part of a collaboration between the two organizations.

      @@WWFRailway how long are the locomotives from maine nearo gage going to stay at the WW&F? Are they going to be restored by the place up the tracks? Also how far North is the Museum planing on laying track?

    • @doedante99
      @doedante99 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jacob Ramsey as someone who stalks the Facebook group of both organizations it’s looking like the two static MGNRR locos are staying at the WW&F for quite a while due to the MNGRR having to downscale the amount of pieces they have on site in Portland

    • @jacobramsey7624

      @@jacobramsey7624 How long are the locomotives from Maine Narrow Gauge going to stay at the WW&F? - The partnership that allows the display of the artifacts in MNG's "core collection" at the WW&F is open-ended. That said, I suspect that both locomotives will be stored at the WW&F or at "Maine Locomotive and Machine Works" (that "place up the tracks") for some time to come.
