  • In Concert at the Wersi Electronic Organ - Brett Wales makes a welcome debut at the Musical Museum. Brett plays keyboards, the electronic organ and piano, and is noted for his playing of the Wersi electronic organ to enthusiastic audiences across the country. The Nottingham-based musician has a keen interest in recording his own arrangements and producing CDs at his recording studio.
We look forward to giving him a warm welcome in person, and the concert will be streamed live and ad-free to our digital ticket holders and Patrons: / musicalmuseum
We also realised (afterwards) that the captions were incorrect - sorry, Brett - though you are a master of the Wurlitzer as well :)

First time seeing Brett, an amazing player. When he said about his grandad being a Klaus Wunderlich fan and started to play because of Klaus, I was the same, that's what got me started playing also. RIP Klaus.

Brett. I built a Wersi Helios W2T Stage analog from a kit version with a German manual. The key matrix took me 3 months to build! I loved the string section and the "Key click bass" I ended up selling it and bought a Wersi Vega digital also a stage version with 200 watts per channel speaker towers from their branch in Purley Surrey, near Croydon. I also met and shook hands with Klaus Wunderlich in a theater in Fareham Hants 30 plus years ago and he said to me "Put your right fingers on the right keys at the right time" I will never forgot that! Kaus was a legend and a pioneer for the likes of Yamaha Tyros which are good insruments today. My second keyboard was given to me by the the manager of the "The Moody Blues" Tony Clarke Based in Cobham Surrey where they had their record shop "Threshold" I met John Lodge at his house and his wife Kirston and Justin Hayward, so nice people! Also, I liked you rendition of Vangelis in this concert. Brett, perhaps you could upload some Glen Miller and Frank Sinatra oldies! And it would be great for you to link up with David Danlap who is a great Wersi player for a concert together? I loved his 911 tribute. All the best Mike.

The piece I've liked greatly is without "In a Persian market"!! I find that Brett has choiced an eccellent serie of voices recreating an authentic music background for an oriental market!! My best compliments to Brett for his virtuosistic way of playing this amazing Wersi organ!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

Dangit. I was hoping with the cloud suit in the 2nd half that he was going to do a song or medley of Prince since that's similar to what P wore in the Raspberry Beret video.

Bert, you are, with Franz Lambert, Claudia Hirshfield and Florian Hutter, the best organ player off the world!!!
And your music (style) is also extreme good. I love your creativity on your Wersi.
Brett, super, super good!!! Sorry for my bad English.

You must be joking. Hirschfeld use 90% of the time audio files and midi files. And even the audio files are produced by a German producer and not by her. Even Lambert uses for years audio recordings in his so-called live performances. Hutter is the only one who really does it all on his own.

@@johnschotz1614One time Claudia Hirschfeld has the attempt to honor Klaus Wunderlich - using a Hage MIDI file. I could recognize it, because a slightly variation, that isn't in the original version.
And for Klaus Wunderlich a good organ player doesn't add anything than some drums. So it was weird and anything than a tribute.

@@roycemurgatroyd7963 We can't really go back in time. Yes it was another time when you didn't have the tech we have today and what you heard on stage was (usually) what 1 man could do with 2 hands and 2 feet plus the build in rhythm unit. Everyone can make a backing track at home today even with only modest playing skills as long as you have some musical knowledge. You can easily however tell wether you can hold yourself on an organ. People today will demand that you can use the features of a modern keyboard/Synth. the scene have changed from pure playing skills to be more and more about your ability to use the tech together with your playing without just playing audio/midi files and just doing nothing. He can play no doubt, but his foot work is often NOT what you hear and the blank screen makes me a little suspicious with if the Organ is actually turned on, but there is light in other places so it's propably cause the camera for some reason can't detect the light in the screen.

Hi - thanks for watching; just to confirm this concert was broadcast and recorded live - Brett was definitely playing and his Wersi was switched on! We see what you mean about the screen looking "blank" on occasion; we're sure Brett will be back, and we will see if another camera angle would be better next time :)

Franz Lambert uses a Ketron module and not the latest, but the drums are way better.
I use a Ketron SD90 and the drums are fascinating. Long patterns done by a motivated studio drummer.
