  • FARMERS’ MARKET HAUL! Join me as I head to the Union Square Greenmarket in Manhattan and get all the seasonal groceries that we’ll need for meal prep this week! Thank you to Zarbee’s Naturals for sponsoring this video and creating the most delicious black elderberry syrup! Check them out: w2buy.net/05lrir9o
Before I head out to the market, I like to grab my reusable bags (to carry all my groceries) and my compost from the freezer (to drop it off along the way)...I also layer up because it’s COLD! I shot this on a Monday, and I did not realize until I got there that it’s a lot more sparse on Monday mornings than it is on my usual trips during the weekend. It’s also winter and the virus is still a threat, so the vendors were just ⅓ of their usual number!
The farmers’ market is one of the most magical places in all of Manhattan. It’s in Union Square (14th street) and it’s filled with local vendors, candle makers, farmers, and more! It just brings me so much joy.
Here’s what I got all for $65 total!
I love getting fresh seasonal produce and buying “naked produce” (aka, in no plastic packaging). I also do occasionally have to supplement this trip with a trip to the regular grocery store because we also do eat some produce that’s not local/seasonal.
I’m working on another video sharing how I meal prep these items, so come back to the Lucie Fink channel soon to see more!

FYI if you start eating local honey (1 tps a day) a few months or so before spring, you'll avoid getting seasonal allergies once everything blooms. Has worked for me for years!

They’re really big in Wisconsin too. Here they fry them up in some breading then dip them in ranch. It’s like a mozzerella stick but smaller 🤤

I absolutely love it that you pick the “funnies”. We grow all heirloom varieties on our small, no-kill, organic farm and much of our produce is not the typical, hybrid, pretty but tasteless foods!

Carrot greens are so yum. Wash. Freeze. Throw them in your smoothies. They contain 6x the Vit. C of a carrot, and help with digestion.

Hey Lucie, just to let you know GMOs don’t make fruits and vegetables look perfect, it is always good to pick the “ugly ones”. A lot of times they are modified to endure harsh conditions like drought or the heavy use of pesticides and herbicides in commercial farming. I thought I would just let you know.

@@luciebfink yes!! It’s really simple. My recipe is vegan:
      Greens
      Clove or two of garlic
      Olive oil
      Pine nuts
      Parmesan cheese (for non-vegans)
      Salt
      Lemon juice
Blend it all together until it has your desired consistency. I like it thinner for sauce but thicker for dipping. You can substitute any nut for pine nuts (since they can be pricey). You can also do this with radish greens, turnip greens, kale, etc. I sometimes make this to use leftover greens. You can freeze it for 3 months.
