What if the pto is always spinning with the handle off ,, then when you throw it up to work it does fine . It’s not to bad but is aggravating when you have to turn tractor off took hook up . It’s on a 1971 4020 power shift . Enjoy your channel!
It was done right before I bought it, so I don't have the part numbers.... But I think all that can be sourced through the deere dealer as an upgrade. also, there's a guy on Yesterday's tractors.com by the name of Tim S. He'd be the guy who could get you the right part numbers for that. He posts in the JD forum.

If pto is spinning with the lever off that means your pto brake is shot. Means splitting the tractor
I have a 4430. It does not take gear 1 and 3 but takes 2 and 4. Any idea of what it can be
