I attended a number of recordings of Bremner, Bird and Fortune and have fond memories of these. In this case I think his delivery was a conscious choice. Listen to the whole routine and his speed of delivery increases when his character is more impassioned.
John Fortune was a brilliant and talented man.

I was a kid when this show was on TV an it encouraged an enquiring mind in me.
This is Fortune really showing his stuff, with this extraordinary anger his character shows. Quite stunning.
So precise given everything happing with China and the US at the moment.
God these guys were hilarious and are sorely missed

is John Fortune speaking so slow for the act or was he already slowing down due to age by then? It strikes me as very slow.

This is far from the best of these, but there are a few good spots. If they had condensed it to 4 mins or so would have been much better.
