Locke was telling Hurley who asked him what he thought was in the hatch, he replied "hope". So we can deduce that hope is an angry Scotsman with a gun. 🤣

I used to work in a sports shop when I was at uni in Glasgow and the actor who plays Desmond came in and I served him. He bought a Celtic top for his nephew. It was during the same time Lost was airing so was SO EXCITING to see him

I remember that opening so well. The realisation that’s it’s inside the hatch and not a flashback. Apparently all the music was created using parts of a plane
Between season 1 and 2, a division began to form in the Lost fanbase. There were those who were emotionally invested in the characters and their stories more so than needing answers to the island's mysteries, and there were those who cared more about getting those answers and were growing frustrated that when there *were* answers, they just led to more questions. Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse made the decision that for the season 2 premiere, they'd "rip the band-aid off" so to speak and immediately show viewers what the heck was in that hatch, knowing that it would lead to more questions. I like mystery, and I also like it when certain things remain mysterious. At this point, I was firmly in the camp of viewers who cared much more about these characters and their inner struggles.

Ahhhh how is this show so good 😆😍🏝️ Also….. Welcome to the “Mystery Box” storytelling of LOST. The puzzle analogy you made at the end was spot on!
Just to clear something up Jack and Sarah did get married. Remember the speech Jack gave "had you in the first half", he ended it with "I didn't fix you, you fixed me". They did indeed get married. What has likely got a little LOST ;) with the rest of the events with entering the hatch and the raft exploding and everything else is Jack saying to the woman he was flirting with at the bar before the flight that he wasn't married anymore.
Fans were PISSED at the way season 1 ended. We wanted to know what was in the freaking hatch. The show runners were taken aback by this, thinking the revelation that The Others were real and they had taken Walt was a big enough deal to end season 1 on. So the show runners decided to open season 2 with hatch answers as a way of saying "We're sorry to you fans. We were unfamiliar with your game."
I recall a 'water cooler' talk with a co-worker, both of us being so mad they didn't show us what was in the hatch. It's funny, I was young and just started working there and she was the oldest person there; hadn't really talked much to her before it but we kind of bonded over discussing Lost 😂

I was a Mod for Neil Talks (still am, even though he's inactive now)... and I would never allow some of these comments about a brand new character. They are well-meaning, but indicate too much.
I remember seeing this opening on air. It was a what the heck?! moment. Then… the hatch. Wow! Of course we had to wait a couple of months for it Because we waited so long I thought they were starting a different storyline. I didn’t realize the explosion was the hatch right away.
This episode hooked me! S2 is top notch with sooo many great episodes (including S2E2) and characters! Enjoying being part of your journey and you are almost too good at predictions!
For many of us, "Make Your Own Kind of Music" by Mama Cass Elliot is indelibly associated with Lost. I don't think Jack went back to the hatch to satisfy his curiosity. It was Kate. He was worried about her. Despite all the problems she brought with her, he was still smitten.
Terry O’Quinn is a 🐐 and Locke is my second favorite character but you are 💯 right about who he is and what motivates him. Another great reaction, bravo! 🌴😎🌺
Personally, I wish folks would refrain from comments declaring any new characters as your favorites. If you couldn't possibly know that at this point while first watching... and you couldn't... then it is a spoiler.
Yeah people should at least cover saying 'I like this actor', because when you say "I like this (new) character!" you're implying that the character is going to be important; and if they're not likeable at their introduction it means that there's a twist coming up.
@riel4553 Yeah. And unfortunately there's already a bunch of comments here saying way more than like. Calling D a goat or all-time favorite. If I was a mod, I'd remove those. They mean no harm, but are indicating so much.
"I nerd to rewatch that" 😂😂😂 And you have now become a true lostiie. We were so lucky that DVRs existed when this show aired. Because this is how we watched it. So many scenes where I'd pause something or rewind and rewatch a scene again. Each episode took me nearly two hours to watch and than I'd rewatch the episode the next morning at 5 am. before work.
When it comes to music, you can watch a material of how they created the pilot episode - there's a scene that shows us that they used parts of the plane to make it sound so chaotic and weird, that was very interesting to watch 🙏
Every season got cliffhangers that were a torture to wait for untill next season to see it continue. Your only in season 2 now, you got crazy cliffhangers(also during seasons) coming for you.

@screamr2d2 I had forgotten the effect Desmond had on me back in the day, but oh how those feelings came rushing back. Chucked my boy Hurley like a hot rock (fickle woman) and became an utter Desmondiac.
Interesting you brought up puzzles - after Season 2 Lost released four different 1000 piece puzzles with NO PICTURE. So you had to put the puzzle together without help to solve the "mystery" of what each of the puzzles looked like (just like the show). I have one of them put together and framed on my office wall, I have two others still in the box. Having trouble finding the 4th puzzle after all these years so I can complete the set :)
So before Matthew Fox was in lost, he was in another show called party of five. Lacey chabert and neve Campbell also starred in it. He had a very similar haircut in that show like the one he had in this flashback. Don't know if he did that on purpose
On your question at 6:19 if Seasons 1 and 2 were filmed back-to-back, the answer is no. Just compare the last shot of Season 1 to the first shot of Season 2 where Jack and John are gazing through the hole of the hatch and you will see that the hatch is smaller in Season 1 and bigger in Season 2. Also, all the seasons were filmed with gaps of months between them. For Seasons 4-6 even bigger gaps.
🌹rose 🌹the auntie's name is rose. try to remember it from titanic :D your welcome :D not finished with the reaction yet but its going strong brother :) 🥰
At this early point, we don't know if Locke has or hasn't had any close relationships. It's still early in the game. Much to be learned yet, about so many. And it's doled out a tiny bit at a time. And I'll confess that, for me, Locke was toughest to understand. My second watch, was solely for studying him. He's so complex. As are a few more. Ps. I wouldn't have waited three more hours to go to the hatch either. Not after all it took to get there. And certainly not coz a person 20 yrs my junior told me I couldn't. No way.
Curiosity you missed: The other person that is declared dead at 8:15 (and you even freaked out about it, despite many more of those are still coming) is one lostie relative (not saying because I'm unsure if that person flashback already showed, but I think yes and it's not a spoiler anyway). Been some years I rewatched, but unsure the info about that person's death is on S1. Think so! If someone can chime in on this, I'd be thankful!
I don't know if you remember, but on the first episode of Lost you said you were worried if you'd be invested in the show. I commented that you'd be invested and addicted (I think my comment has the most likes) Well.... was I right? 🤔😄
again you predict that desmond will be shown again, and then later on in the hatch. you are good lol, or maybe this show is way more predictable than I remembered?? Either way you gotta admit it's amazing.
All the cues are there, but in hindsight, we had no pause buttons, a lot of fandom around spinning crazy theories and long waits, eagerly devouring a new episode. So... kinda easier to spot the cues, I'd say.
Desmond low key the GOAT fr. Been around since the BCS reactions and love to see that these Lost reactions are popping off bro. More blessings your way.
@craigshilo4137 he has subtitles on, the subtitled said "Scottish accent", revealing it was Desmond before they even showed it, that was so annoying, he knew it immediately
@@Oobe I was actually referring to your comment calling him your "all-time favorite character". But yeah the subtitles on Netflix suck so much for that reason.
Jack Shephard!! I have a very unhealthy love for a fictional character LOL Of course he is not perfect but who would not want him in their life. I think it is always funny when people say the subtitles should be off. I am in the minority, I think they should be on. You had already speculated it was Desmond way before so it spoiled nothing really. Hope you leave them on & of course this is just my personal opinion. Do what makes you comfortable & happy 😸
Why does Charlie say there are no others if he killed Ethan?🤷♂ Hurley says he won $114 million and on another occasion he said it was $156 million, continuity error? Jack was sitting in 23 B and Ana Lucia in 42 F
Hurley won $114 million in the lottery. He upped his worth after that. Notice he said “I’m worth $156 million”. It was in the scene where he’s talking to his lawyer and a guy jumped past the window.
Of course, Locke does have something to lose ! His life for instance, his his ability to walk, to feel his legs again ! And that's not true that Locke doesn't care about anyone... It was a brilliant psychological analyze you made on the character, but not true in the series and not true in life (I know what it is to stay alone a very long time, being betrayed by people we put our trust into... I know what it is... And I always felt connected with John Locke in some sort as he is the character of the show who looks the most like me... He is not my favourite but one of my favourites but has got that special emotional involvement towards him in addition to that)
Locke does care in general... but he tends to put his purpose over people. That's one of the differences between him and Jack. Jack puts saving people first. Personally, I'd rather rely on someone with a savior complex than someone with overriding blind faith. But otherwise... Jack & John are so similar. Both so stubborn and obsessive. Great characters. I always enjoy watching them... even if I don't agree with all their behavior.
@@juliet_burke you’re right. I don’t think it’s too much of a spoiler to say that this isn’t the last vision Shannon will have of Walt and I mixed them up. My apologies.
TURN OFF YOUR SUBTITLES!!!!! PLEASE!! LOL It literally ruins everything. Even when you think it doesn’t, it does! It ruins the experience for you AND us!
This is kinda silly to assume that almost 50 years old man (Locke) had relationship with a woman only once in his entire life, this would be extremely unlikely for a male of his age.
And yet we see time and time again in his flashbacks that he doesn't form relationships very well. He's a relatively isolated person. He wouldn't have been out chasing tail every weekend, especially post-chair. I don't understand why there's an argument being made here. You think he's hot, therefore he MUST have been a stallion off-island despite all the evidence presented by the show to the contrary? Besides, I don't recall anyone calling him a monk nor a virgin nor anything of the like. Just that it's unlikely that he would have had many attachments or physical entanglements in the past. Seems like a fair assessment to me. Unlike this comment, which I mostly find unfounded and odd.... And a little bit ick if I'm being totally honest.
@@juliet_burke yeah, you definitely have no idea what you're talking about, and you also appear to be very bad at a) reading people, and b) understanding men. This whole monk thing screams that you see men as these one dimensional things. Take this sexist, ultra sheltered stuff someplace else.

Been some years I rewatched, but unsure the info about that person's death is on S1. Think so! If someone can chime in on this, I'd be thankful!
The flashback you’re referring to hasn’t happened yet… that’s all I’ll say to keep us spoiler free! ☺️
@@louisa_writes In S1 during a flashback we get that same last name (hint: from a cop).
Walt is speaking backwards. He is saying something.
My favorite opening season but hard to beat season 1. Season 3 is good and season 5 is a really great season
What do you mean they didn't get married? They did.
Season 2 is a mystery with accessories. Can you see how LOST grabbed us and tried to drag us down into it's hole?
108: if you add all of the numbers together, you get 108.
I don't know if you remember, but on the first episode of Lost you said you were worried if you'd be invested in the show. I commented that you'd be invested and addicted (I think my comment has the most likes) Well.... was I right? 🤔😄
@@scooter9192 maybe
again you predict that desmond will be shown again, and then later on in the hatch. you are good lol, or maybe this show is way more predictable than I remembered?? Either way you gotta admit it's amazing.
All the cues are there, but in hindsight, we had no pause buttons, a lot of fandom around spinning crazy theories and long waits, eagerly devouring a new episode. So... kinda easier to spot the cues, I'd say.

Desmond low key the GOAT fr.
Been around since the BCS reactions and love to see that these Lost reactions are popping off bro. More blessings your way.
I appreciate that!
Meet Desmond, my all time favorite character
that was kind of spoilerish in my opinion
The subtitles?
@craigshilo4137 he has subtitles on, the subtitled said "Scottish accent", revealing it was Desmond before they even showed it, that was so annoying, he knew it immediately
@@Oobe I was actually referring to your comment calling him your "all-time favorite character". But yeah the subtitles on Netflix suck so much for that reason.
@@craigshilo4137 actually your comment is more spolerish! LMAO I suggest you cut the second sentence pls.
I too have an unhealthy relationship with, well, several of these characters but Jack is at the top of that list.
Why does Charlie say there are no others if he killed Ethan?🤷♂
Hurley says he won $114 million and on another occasion he said it was $156 million, continuity error?
Jack was sitting in 23 B and Ana Lucia in 42 F
Because Charlie is still pissed at being manipulated by Rousseau. He knows.
@@jeffwontshutup 👍

Argh, there’s so much to say about your assessment of Locke, but I don’t want to spoil anything. 😅
Ah Desmond!! One of my absolute favorite characters on the show!!(See you in another life, brotha)
Careful! You're basically implying that Desmond has more of a role to play here - so I would definitely consider this a spoiler.
Please take off subtitles, it reveals everything, it said the Scottish accent before you saw Desmond, that's so annoying
That's a really tiny nit in the grand scheme of things. And there's advantages to having the subtitles.
There was another spoiler in the subtitles a few episodes ago
@@RussianLegend I know, in the episode with Boone falling I saw another one as well, it's so annoying
Walt said “they’re coming and they’re close” in reverse when Shannon saw him.
Nope!!! Walt here said "Don't push the button, the button is bad".
@@juliet_burke you’re right. I don’t think it’s too much of a spoiler to say that this isn’t the last vision Shannon will have of Walt and I mixed them up. My apologies.
@@moconor79this is a spoiler, I think you should remove it, if the mods don't want to do their job
@@yarayara5694 he posts an episode a day. Pretty sure he’s got them recorded already.
TURN OFF YOUR SUBTITLES!!!!! PLEASE!! LOL It literally ruins everything. Even when you think it doesn’t, it does! It ruins the experience for you AND us!
Um what? Speak for yourself, it ruins, nothing for me. I prefer subtitles.
@@helbraheals he was literally spoiled by the subtitles when Boone was speaking into the radio. That was a huge spoiler!
@@artemis2569 Oh gosh, it’s not that big of a deal. He was already guessing and putting it together anyway.
@@helbraheals not the point
This is kinda silly to assume that almost 50 years old man (Locke) had relationship with a woman only once in his entire life, this would be extremely unlikely for a male of his age.
What a bizarrely sheltered take.
Not if he struggled his whole life with confidence issues, abandonment issues, and a Locke-like social awkwardness....
@@screamr2d2 he was fine despite abandonment. Definitely not a monk.
I beg you to PLEASE TAKE OFF SUBTITLES I HAVE A BAD FEELING ITS GONNA REVEAL ALL LOT OF THINGS PREMATURELY later on🫶🏽❤️
I agree, he immediately figured out it was Desmond because the subtitles said it was a Scottish accent. Like why wtf was that about it ruined
Yeah very true, especially in a future season, I know of one huge surprise that will get ruined if you don’t turn them off
@heyitsmefadi8024 so ive already recorded up to ep 7. I always watch with subtitles since forever hahaha and also just in case someone with hard of hearing is watching 🙂
@@eliemoses I'm a big fan of having subtitles on. You pick up so much more than you would otherwise and any spoilers are pretty minimal anyway.
The sub-titles are bad! The sub-titles are bad!
