I have to give Daniel a bit of a pass on this one regardless of how he's handled this situation so far. I started watching Coronation St., for the first time only a few weeks before Sinead died so I saw what they were going through as a family and how he was so so lost in his grief after she died having been left with a newborn Bertie. So, going through this hell again he can barely bear. So yes, he needs to sober up and if he truly loves Daisy which I think he does, he needs to pull himself back together and be there with her from that point on in all ways. Not easy but...a must do. Only then can it be said that Daniel and Daisy belong together.
Does any character on this show ever answer their phone when someone calls them and its important? It’s always; _”had the phone/ringer turned off”_ or _”the battery died”_ or _”forgot me charging cable”_ or _”left the phone at work/home/in the car”_ or some other truly lame excuse.
No. Daisy just needs the best parts of Daniel at this time, so he just needs to sober up and commit to being there for and with her. It's not like he's a criminal or a nasty man, he's just had his world rocked to the core having lost Sinead to cancer not so very long ago. He and Daisy together can do this.

Hold on, have you forgotten what happened with Daniel in the past. You can’t blame him for feeling the way he is, even though I do feel Daisy’s lump will probably be nothing. What Dr Gadass said was right.
