Great story; Excellent narration! Definitely got a "Bolo" vib from the story. Also, I caught the "Aliens" reference. I would like to hear a sequel, but I know what the outcome is already! LOL!!!
Nice BOLOS story. Now we need one for Hammer's Slammers. Cause a full platoon of those firing plasma at a serious percentage of C will also ruin your day LOL

ooooh such a good story and to name the tank model after michael wittman? wonderful! hope to hear more stories from the author and their universe thanks for the narration
I know most everyone is describing the tanks as BOLOs, but given the appearance of Kiki from "Sluggy Freelance", I would say it is more of a Shiva Gun from the Legacy of the Aldenata by John Ringo. The primary Shiva Gun we follow in that series has Bun Bun painted on it. Even the rounds sound similar to what they used, though the one in this story was somewhat smaller if I remember; real Shiva Guns drive OVER cities.
I thought this was a reference to First Contact by Ralts Bloodthorne. I didnt know he borrowed the term BOLO. But he also uses large multi hunderd tone + tanks.
As others have noted, it is more a SheVa (for Shenandoah Valley, where it was first designed and made), from John Ringo's Legacy of the Aldenata series. Don't underestimate humanity when we thinks our back is to the wall, we tend to throw all the shit at it to see what sticks and then add things like rocks, explosives, guns, more guns, and bigger guns to it. We may lose, but we will make whatever is coming HURT and pay for its victory.
Ah, BOLLO tank in the planet. And 18 of them, if some low tech and early iterations of the proud war machine bloodline. Take this world and take the orbit will be costly 🤔
It’s good they found a way to negate the enemy holding the HIGH *Ground*. A Enemy in high orbit. *did I hear only 6 kilometers I space?*. IIRC that’s under 20k feet? That’s lower than most passenger jets can fly. Space starts at 100 kilometers I think. I would think they would stay at least 150kilometers up. Enjoy protection of gravity well, and boost to KEWs from gravity well. *plus really hot when it hits*.
Only if you use them like the both partys use them, just siting in the open without cover from above... yes they are still a high value target. But also a high value asset
Well, the Russian ones are definitely mobile coffins. They haven't really improved their tech for decades, much less their techniques, and are running out of actually trained tankers. Back in the Soviet era, they literally gave bad maps and only commanding vehicles had much for communications equipment...to keep anyone from making a run for it and defecting. It says something for the quality of leadership if the troops are implicitly trusted and have a mission they are willing to give their lives for.
My one criticism is that the super-tanks shouldn't have been named Wittmans. Michael Wittman was an officer in the Waffen SS, not someone we should be commemorating. Should have named them after someone like Lafayette Poole.
Waffen SS despite the uniforms weren't the same as Einsatzgruppen. They were soldiers, not the extermination squads. Their hands weren't clean but neither were the Wehrmacht's, even US troops did many things that would never fly today and weren't admitted to then.
Your selection of stories seem superior to most. Some character development, humans are not constantly "determined", "resilient" ", " it's not over", and humans are not so INCREDIBLE compared to the thousands of other species in the universe. Those stories are boring and I guess AI generated. You funny voices are fun to.
Chugs mug of coffee and slammed it into the floor "ANOTHER!"

calling a bolo a tank is like calling a dreadnaught a war canoe

SHEVA not a BOLO
Sounds like the "SheVa" used in the Legacy of the Aldenata series by John Ringo. There is a story about one named BunBun.
yep but bolo was first. i've read most of ringo's stuff on earth and enjoyed it
General Patton would be proud.
So would Rommel

The Dinochrome Brigade for the Win.
The Malevolent Universe likes this.
What truly makes a BOLO a BOLO is the brain. This is just a big gun.
the SHEVA known as BUN BUN😂
Ahh.. they decided to do some Sluggy Freelance(ing)
Good story! Thank you yet again for the fine narration of this for us. Long may the algorithm uphold your channel.
