Hi Chee-Wooi, I keep the bow tension the same for upbow staccato as normal which is about a pencil thick space in the middle of the bow between the bow hair and the stick. Please see this video for more info. Happy violin playing Chee-Wooi! th-cam.com/video/bb_n1EO68Uw/w-d-xo.html
I am a beginner violin player and I just started a couple of days ago, After learning open strings I decided to move on to first position, however when I started playing first position notes they sounded scratchy and they don't vibrate ( or ring which makes them sound horrible) and I can't understand why, my open strings still sound good and very smooth (for me atleast) but once I start playing and fingering with my index finger they sound horrible , help please 😢 The note sounds scratchy and without warmth and it doesn't give that vibrating sound that violin normally has
When you begin playing with both hands play only one finger and the string alternative with whole bow counting 4 . example,on A string you play A after b(first finger) A again and so on.in the whole bow you play four notes,a-b,a-b,counting one beat. For each note...I hope that helps you
