That's really cool. When I took an art class in college, we had an assignment to a 3D drawing. It was a lot of fun, and the result made me smile to realise what I had created.
Whereas my tutors at college would have found a way to slaughter him for this lol, I got a fail for missing a single shadow on a drawing of a brick wall - yes they made us draw walls lol
Trimming the paper is the magic moment.
This seems really fun to create!

@@cindyjurgens1392 He does it right at the end to finish the illusion. The one thing that actually got me was the top of the 'M' is actually higher that the paper. Until I saw him cut it off I was convinced.

Even watching you shade the letter, it looks like you are working with a real 3D letter! You go “up” the letter, you squeeze in between the feet of the M to put in shadows! It’s awesome!
This was absolutely awesome to watch! And cutting the page was just genius!
The shading just added beauty--it already looked 3-D with the outline of the letter drawn, due to the curvature and perspective. Fabulous!

Yeah I thought the thumbnail was an actual steel letter M bent up, thought the thumbnail was clickbait but when I swiped my finger to scroll down I accidentally caused the preview and saw the pencil role across and was like wait, WHAT!? Had click at that point, there was no option

That's what threw me off. I was trying my best to find a 2d perspective but i couldnt cause the cutting made it look like the M was literally floating off the page. I could see it from a 2d perspective until that point
it's all about shading and put the right amount of pressure on the pencils
if the black shadow was to be removed it would become just a distorted M

When I got old enough to hold a pencil I started drawing. Until I got old enough to get a job, the only tools I had were #2 pencils and black Bic pens. I know what you can do with next to nothing. This video still fascinates me. I love to watch other artists work.

I was having a hard time understanding the amount of dislikes as well. Jealousy perhaps?
I wish we had the Internet when I was at secondary school in the 70's. I'd have drawn stuff like this in our art classes. I'd have used this style on a A1 sheet of paper, first in graphite, then 2 contrasting colours.
These videos have given me a strong urge to pick up my pencils and create my own designs. Fantastic tutorial subbed!!
