Pipe welding is so sick. I start my first pipe welding job Monday.
I laughed at most of your jokes in the video, good stuff man.

It’s nice seeing Scott have his own school he taught me how to weld even before he had his own school he’s a professional

I like the “Don’t stand up on your weld partner” rule. I’ve always been a perfectionist. I’m not fast. But I’ve always produced a nice product. But I’ve also been pretty oblivious of what the other guy is doing…. The real questions is how do you deal with a welding partner who is a “good enough for government work” welder? Grrrrr.

Had a 24in chrome weld I was brother inlaw with a dude whose been welding for like 12 years. This was my first process pipe weld ever… safe to say he showed me up. As long as they both pass X-ray, is what it is. I’m not gonna ask someone to make a worse weld to make me look worse or vis-à-vis.

So pretty much don't be an Oscar Gutierrez.
Welding definition of Oscar Gutierrez: A welder that always comes in and does the very minimal work possible while scolding others that they are taking too long. At times, he will ask you how much your getting paid, if no response is satisfactory to him, he will ask how much your monthly bills are and will estimate how much you make. Furthermore, he will be the one to first start working and try to make you look bad by finishing jobs that have 2 hours clocked in, and finishes in 1 hour. Then at lunch, he will drive away in his lifted chevy and bitch about how expensive everything is, and yet he is still doing truck payments and going more into debt. And above all.....a suck ass welder.

They're out there, bro, and I've met plenty of them. Very rare that you meet a welder that minds his own business but at the same time is respectful

Some partners don’t like it if you “fire up” on em… and one of the top rules… there’s only 2 people who look at the welds. Inspectors and cocksuckers. So don’t hop up and start lookin at your partners welds 🤣

Sadly I bet a lot of guys will now do the opposite of all the etiquette advice as a way to assert dominance over their partner.
There are a lot of a$$holes out there.

the dont stand up rule is kinda weird. Isnt one person going to finish before the other every time regardless? One welder must finish so the other can tie in. Doesnt add up. I guess most things labled as traditon tend not to. I understand the reasoning behind it, but it seems dated.

Pancake hood designed for light weight stress relief on your neck and goggle designed to keep sun glare out from inside the lens while welding outside.

@@geno1974ross Also they let the air get to half of your face compared to standard style hoods that cover both sides.
Never used one myself but have heard from guys that have the ventilation makes a big difference in the summer.
