    The wee creature made tiny cricket noises! It appears the person who was playing with it is so very gentle & didn't seem to mind being gnawed on. SUCH A SWEET CRITTER!!!

    For all of you saying this little guy doesn't like his owner... That seems unlikely. The moment he called for it, the little guy came running right up! And the monkey never actually bit him hard, he looked like he was playing.

    • @cam3275
      @cam3275 10 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Also another thing: When these little guys chirp, it means they're happy... this little dude was chirping all the time, and climbing on it's owner's hands WHILE chirping. He's fine you guys!

    Pygmy marmosets are native to Amazonia, South America. This one has apparently been smuggled to Asia. They are wonderful little primates, but they belong in the rainforest, not in someone's appartment in Japan.

    Even though it is extremely cute, and I would love to interact with them, my heart of heart knows that it's not right that we take these and other beautiful animals away from their natural habitat, just to quench our emotions. The best place for this little species is back in south America, running wild and free from human interference, with his troop. Please people, don't encourage the exotic pet trade by purchasing one. If you're smart enough, you'll think twice before you do.

      Humans are most imporant, as long as you care about animals they are ok. Good we didn't have pussies like you 100 k years ago otherwise we would never have domesticated wolfs (dogs), cows, horses and other animals because "muh feefees, animulz have better life in wild jungle eaten by snek" :p

  • @hrl2k
    @hrl2k 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    As a zoologist at the San Diego Zoo, this is somewhat false. Even though it comes from the order of Primates, it has a lot more characteristics to it than a standard "monkey" would. This is essentially the guinea pig of the Primate family and enjoys human companionship. It's not very bright due to being so small and it loves to be touched. The young ones are very rambunctious (which this one seems to be) and that's where the biting comes in to play. The nibbling you see here is playful.

    do YOU know how marmosets behave in general? These aren't domesticated animals, these are wild animals possibly poached and sold for lots of money. People buy them just because they're cute and don't really know how to take care of them especially in later years when they get older and more aggressive. These are not cats and dogs, people.

  • @mondchristopher6847

    This marmoset was bought, not under rehabilitation. And I'm sure you watch animal documentaries. Animals like these much enjoy interacting with their own kind rather than being a pet despite that you make everything convenient for them. Marmosets live in group, they socialize with ranks and such on trees.

  • @Ssoonnyy

    • @PrimateProductions
      @PrimateProductions 8 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      +Summer How do you know? If it truly did not want him petting it then it would run away and then stay away from his reach...marmosets arent little passive creatures..they definitely let you know if they do not like something you are doing. This one is a younger one and therefore they tend to chew...a lot! It has nothing to do with disliking his touch.

    • @essentialdang
      @essentialdang 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    • @Skitlus
      @Skitlus 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It wasn't intended to offend anyone, however the animal does not seem to appreciate the attention it received from its owner. Generally, it doesn't seem as if wild creatures care much for human attention, and this marmoset seems like it doesn't appreciate human contact even if it doesn't flee. (It probably doesn't flee because it knows it can't)

    • @Skitlus
      @Skitlus 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      *****
      When does the marmoset look the most smitten?
      When it bites him (ie. every freaking time it gets touched), or when it shifts is head back and forth as if it was looking for an escape?

    • @Skitlus
      @Skitlus 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I Googled 'pygmy marmoset bites', and found this article, which made owning one seem like an even worse thing than I initially thought.
      "When a baby pygmy marmoset is taken away from the family it can often die quickly due to depression. Pet pygmy marmosets can take a grave dislike towards their owners and some have been known to bite their owners and throw feces at them, as a form of attack."
      a-z-animals.com/animals/pygmy-marmoset/

    • @riki-qs9lb
      @riki-qs9lb 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      lol man, come down guys
      For the first thing, I don't believe anyone of you has the keen sense of reading animal faces. (that's including me)
      Although I believe this marmoset is enjoying he's time with he'w owner, I think the owner is handling him wrong...
      He's covering the marmosets whole body with one hand
      Imaging yourself being pat by a giant that's like 100 times bigger than you
      Even if you know the guy pretty well, it'll be kind of terrifying
      The best way to touch him, is to touch he's chin from below
      If he runs away, stop
      and also, dont pat animal from behind

    • @theEarlofChip
      @theEarlofChip 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ***** no, not all animals respond to human affection. That's why certain animals are better as pets than others, even when they're not dangerous. This is probably about as friendly as pygmy marmosets get. I doubt it's mistreated, it's just not a companion animal. Cats, dogs, ferrets etc are known to love their people and return the affection they receive, which is one reason why they've historically been kept as pets. You can't just take any animal out of its environment, give it food and human affection (which it probably won't even understand), and expect it to be healthy and friendly.

    Non-domesticated animals don't belong in a house. Exotic animals shouldn't be kept as pets, and I am not gonna bother listing the numerous reasons why, but monkeys aren't the same as cats and dogs (that have been domesticated over a LONG time)

    Yes, Drewie. Of course they can be pets. My indigenous friends in the Amazon region of Ecuador have them as pets, but my point is that they are better off in the tropics where they are from, and not living in a city apartment. My friends in Ecuador let them run free. They are wonderful primates, and I love them, but I prefer they stay close to home.
