    Hi there, I've still got my RG351M, and it'll keep me busy for a while yet, its got nearby 24 thousand games on it and I love it, might get one of these at some point, but mine will do for now, liked and subbed my friend 👍🏻

    17:54 Thank you for including a clip of “Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder.” Such an under-appreciated arcade classic. It’s why I’m looking forward to getting an RG351MP, since my RG350M can’t run it.

    • @ryanh.3192
      @ryanh.3192 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Retro Core can you tell me which specific emulator you are using to run "Revenge of Death Adder" as seen in your video? I received my RG351MP, installed 351ELEC, but the various Retroarch emulators struggle to run this title at full speed. Have tried them all: MAME 2003Plus, MAME 2010, FBA, etc., but performance is far below yours. Thanks.

    14:45 Thank you for including “After Burner II,” my favorite arcade game of all time. My RG350M can’t run it at full speed, so I was hoping the RG351MP can do better. Looks like that is the case!

    Anbernic makes some great stuff. I have the RG351P, RG351M, RG351V, RG280V, and this RG351MP too, and they are all fantastic in their own way, but right now the RG351MP is my favorite. The screen is fantastic and I love the dual analog sticks because I enjoy playing games like Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, and Quake on it, as well as my entire collection of retro classic such as Nintendo, Amiga, Commodore 64, Atari 2600, Lynx, etc.
    Fantastic system, great quality, reasonably priced, and runs many systems very well. I love it.

  • @mrkocsa
    @mrkocsa 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thank you for the review, precisely for the opinion from your channel). Yes, they are getting better.
    But for portability, aluminum will be heavy, plus scratches.
    But I hope that someday, in my lifetime, they will come up with bluetooth for wireless headphones and ... a removable battery.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Surprisingly the device only weighs about the same as a 3DSLL. But easier to hold because its not top heavy.
      It is a shame this doesn't have Bluetooth built in but I guess a Bluetooth dongle could be used.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sadly I haven't been able to get the Saturn stuff running yet. I've not really had much time to mess about with it though. I have a feeling the bios files need to be named a certain way which is why the games are not booting.

    This is very nice,mark. Probably would be one of the best hand helds out there (with a custom firmware) wouldn't you say? Truth be told *IF* I have $150 I'd love to snag on but alas I don't. One thing I would change is a HDMI out to hook up to a TV. that's just me though. Thanks for the vid. Good to see you as always!

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The lack of HDMI out is an odd choice. I'm sure previous models had that. But even without it, I'd say this is one of not the best systems on the market now (excluding the Analogue Pocket)

  • @STR82DVD

    I can't wait to set up some more systems on mine and even dip into some off-the-beaten-path systems like Amiga, MSX or SG-1000.
    Yet, I also loathe having to spend a lot of time on getting systems to run, look and sound as good as possible; obsessive nature, we meet again. I've spend so much time already on seemingly simple things like GBC, experimenting with video filters/shader combos. Here's hoping for some easier wins with GBA, PS, N64 perhaps.
    Shenmue I I've got running and looking decently on DC now, hoping Shenmue II will run ok, too.
    Once you've installed 351ELEC and have gotten over the initial learning curve hump, it's an great device; IMO, much better than it has any reason to be at its price point.

      The gameplay's...it's not bad. There's some fun to be had, even if it feels like a leaked prototype, sometimes, due to an overall lack of polish.
      But.
      Spoilers:
      That's not Aya. Just Aya's empty body inhabited by the soul of a scared little girl named Eve.
      The developer is really proud of her clothing taking battle damage. ("It's okay! Her body is legal!")
      Anyways, the real Aya does show up at the end, and immediately guns down fools on her wedding day, like a New York style Samus.
      In a cutscene.
      But don't worry! Eve gets to shoot her afterwards. In fact, Aya wants to be shot. In first person view, preferably, for those who really want to savor the moment.
      It's totally justified in the plot. You see....um...time paradox...? Yeah, that's it. Anyways, new Aya has to kill old Aya, or the terrible fanfic will never happen.
      Today, most PE fans agree that there are only two games in the series.
      So I guess Eve couldn't pull the trigger.

    All that clearly sponsered Analog Pocket content is such a joke. I agree the 351 is one of the nicest devices out there. Currently own both a 351P & 351V. 351P is still my preferred one over the V because of the form factor. MP seems the best of both worlds but not going to spend the money on it since I think my 351P suffices my needs.

    weird trick i found for helping PS1 performance on the RG351: try the PAL version of a game that slows down a lot. since it's only 50hz instead of 60, sometimes it actually runs much smoother. depends on the game of course. for example, i found that Metal Gear Solid can get a bit laggy during the boss fights if you play the NTSC version, but not in the PAL version.
    fyi: this is the same trick Sony themselves used on the PS1 Classic to get all the games running full speed. (it's got a mix of NTSC and PAL versions in there) if that trick is good enough for them, it's good enough for me too.

    It may not be the analogue pocket or any sort of FPGA, but "retro elitists" just drove me away from the FPGA trend, I have compared several times my real hardware with good emulation and emulation runs perfectly and have lots of benefits like save states or filters that mimic the original look, not just that, but talking about preservation, as far as I know Super NT core and MisTer SNES core are built on top of Bsnes/Higan works, and arcade cores of MisTer use MAME documentation profusely so...which one was first preserving old hardware? FPGA emulation or Software emulation? Anyway nothing wrong with FPGA I'm interested on it too, but for now software emulation it's years ahead, in preservation too.

    • @ruxcooking

    • @FoxbatStargazer
      @FoxbatStargazer 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      FPGA mostly has better timing, so you can potentially enjoy action games in zero visual lag, while having audio perfectly synced with no buffering. That also makes possible interfacing with original hardware and carts. Its not something fundamentally different as Analogue will tell you but there are real advantages. The hyper accurate software emulators also need a real PC class CPU, not low powered chips in Anbernic devices.
      FPGA can handle save states too, there is just a significant cost in resources so it hasnt been done as often. A handful of Mister cores support and it seems like the official Pocket cores will too (this is what their sleep feature is based on)
