    Wow what a beautifully honest complicated bloke. Self awareness can be both beautiful and an absolute nightmare cross to bear. Once you realise most things in life are bullshit it's hard to find joy in anything. Whoever said ignorance is bliss is spot on.

    I met Pete while working behind the scenes as the makeup artist crew at towie and he was so welcoming and polite, even came out his way to introduce his self and get to know who we are etc, this made us feel very comfortable and welcomed. Great episode 😊

    Can't believe I watched this, but so glad I did. What an eloquent, connected, grounded being. The direct opposite of what I expected. Wishing you the happiness you so deserve Pete. Well done Jamie, you create a space where people can show up as themselves, you disarm them, because you are willing to do the same. Good job!

    Creating Pirate Pete to conceal negative 'Self-Perception' sustains that negative 'self-perception' whilst concealing it from others. This is a psychological complex that can only be undone by objectively defining 'self-perception' and challenging it. If an individual believes they are a tree it doesn't matter how many people try to convince them they are not, it's not until they independently come to an alternative conclusion that they experience personal transformation.

    Scared incase he would do what his father did, walked away and caused pain and hurt. So he doesn't trust himself not to cause pain to the people that love him. Just my humble opinion.

      People with abandonment issues can either have avoidant personality types or anxious attachment styles which I can definitely relate to due to childhood trauma. I think Pete falls into the avoidant category so as to prevent himself from losing someone close to him again, hurting them in the way he experienced and is quite clearly still wounded from, but hopefully one day he'll meet that person that will make those walls come down and he'll just fall without even realising it. He just hasn't found that person yet and it will probably happen when he faces that trauma fully within himself 🥰

    Being rejected by a parent often causes a significant amount of damage psychologically. Pete is so hard on himself but I think he's lovely - a kind, genuine, and compassionate human being. Not perfect of course, because nobody is. I think that the persona he's created for the media is purely his way of keeping that wall up.

  • @heytigers3104
    @heytigers3104 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    He’s very hard on himself. It seems to me he has an extreme form of independence stemming from rejection. If he stays busy and productive, he can be needed and not rejected, but he doesn’t want to give anyone he relies on the chance to reject him so he does it pre-emptively by not relying on others too much emotionally. Fatherhood would change him for the better. Hope he does build a family. 😊

    I am so ignorantly surprised by Pete in this podcast. I have always had a soft spot for him but I always thought that he came across (thanks to TOWIE editing!) a bit arrogant and at times blasé about others feelings by putting himself first at any opportunity. However, I wish everyone who had the same ignorance as me would take the opportunity to listen to him speak in such an eloquent (with a few Essex expletives that keeps his “normal” charm!) open and honest appeal. Loved this boys ♥💙♥

    Makes me wonder if his father leaving the family home when he was young is the reason he dosnt like getting to close to people/girlfriends. But fair play he sounds like a lovely person.
