Same here. It showed how much she wanted him to be comfortable with her and I frickin love things like that.
Agreed. She did it for a number of reasons.
1) she didn’t want to accidentally get hurt if he scratched her out of fear/ptsd again
2) she showed boundaries because she wasn’t given any permanent/specific boundaries for physical affection and support yet. She gives him his space.
3) again support. She let him have the choice of taking her hand. She didn’t force comfort and affection on him because not all people like physical affection as comfort. Some just like a persons presence. Just knowing someone is there to have your back.
This is why i love that moment specifically. She is showing her support, but having him make the boundaries he sets to make himself at ease and most comfortable.
Also because i can kinda relate to this moment

Can we talk about the cute lesbian couple that took them to their destination and when Sanga hesitated they pushed her out like "GO AFTER HIM YOU FOOL Y'ALL ARE FAMILY" im thriving this is wonderful

Brb im gonna be crying about this for a couple of days now.
The fact that Sanga didn't get upset when Ashivon lashed out at her in a panic, she understood because she was dealing with her own traumas. They both wanted to run to each other but felt guilt from trauma caused by their own kind to the other. And then they see an example of a healthy relationship! And the mutual hand taking! I just! Im so happy they get a happy ending. Truly. This is so wonderful and profound and so deep on many emotional levels.
When and how do we learn the names? If there is more i can find, please point me to it.

I know people have said this before but, as an AFAB who looks a bit like Sanga (short hair, broad shoulders, stocky), she is such a breath of fresh air from the stereotypical dainty, elegant female figure that we're constantly shown in media, I love this series so much and can't wait to see where it goes 😁♥️

I love this! The depiction that their freedom didn’t just ensure a relationship, they still had to deal with their OWN guilt and fears before coming together in a moment that was mutual not one person grabbing the other’s hand. I love it. (Also plus points for world building)

She likely doesn't actually have black coverings. You have to remember this is black and white but a lot of things in the series specificaly have a lot of color(like how the magic is color coded) still a nice detial in the animatics though
I just love how davi pushes her, as if to tell her without words "go, they are your family too." I love this so much!!
I think Ameqa and Davi push her at the same time. If you pause it at the right time, you can see a right hand on her left shoulder and a left hand on her right. And that just makes my heart melt even more.
PTSD is one hell of a thing. Because it drags you back to the hell that you’ve already escaped from.

Alot of people are talking about wanting an animated series or a comic but I honestly really like these animatics as they are. They concisely tell the story in such a beautiful way that id be afraid of a series wouldn't be able to quite capture it. It perfectly sets the tone I feel! (That's not to say I wouldn't absolutely love more content of this!! I read the world building document and oh my gosh it's so cool)

The parallels between Ashivon and Sanga reaching out for the other's hand and feeling like it would do more harm then good is so beautiful!!! And how at the end they just reach out for one another and it all comes flooding down and they just, embrace each other is so wonderful and intimate and theres such vibes of healing and i love it
its been MONTHS since this was published but I always come back to watch these animations over and over and over again.
It is a shame that movie studios are off remaking movies when there are wonders like this.

This is a beautiful animatic to add to the first one. The addition of the beginning of the animatic is an amazing touch, showing that the characters had a connection before the first animatic. I noticed the correlation between how Ashivon drew out a depiction of his past family in the beginning part, and how the little one also had a past family they depicted. The hurt/comfort of the story hit me hard, how fearful the two main characters are of each other, and it’s completely understandable with their pasts, which makes the ending all the more happy. All of the art and movements are on point, and all of the detail put into a 4 minute video is astounding. [im literally sobbing I love this so mucH]
I have never thought in my life that I'd meet characters that i know nothing of, for roughly 6 mins (part 1 and 2) and made me try not to cry this hard like a toddler. God damn, for the artist who made this, you are above fascinating. I feel speechless tbh, thank you for warming my heart i needed it.
It's not just the art that causes this it's the art plus the music composition it works so elegantly together to stir up your emotions on a deep and passionate level, the artist is an exceptionally talented one because her choice in music compliments her art style I'm excited for the next chapter in there story

First off, this is utterly breath-taking!!!
And secondly, I adore the way you respectfully handled the characters, especially the demon's struggles with PTSD, and the ex-nun's attempts to sooth him. Not once did she try to grab his hand by force. They were both patient and understanding of each other, in such a beautiful way.
I think, our gorgeous demon boy is finally learning to not associate that symbol with the institution that imprisoned him. Instead, it's a part of someone he loves, and he's healing with her patience. Not powers, or sacred ways, just the gentleness to be found in the kindness of someone willing to see him for what he truly is.

Ok, now I've watched this for the 4th time and cried about it for the 4th time I can actually get my thoughts out coherently.
I love that this tells the story of a beautiful relationship forged in complete trust of each other and seeing past the surface Sanga had to abandon her life to do the right thing and Ash had to trust someone who appeared to be one of his abusers. Also I've learned anything about finding where you belong will make me just melt into a puddle of tears and this is so excellently done
That is also how I feel about the story to & I also melt about finding where you belong stories
At 2:43 it looks like we’re seeing Sanga struggle with not knowing whether she fits in Ash’s life anymore, or how she fits. (We saw them both struggle with this separately, when they reached for the other person but chose not to touch them.)
But THIS TIME (2:56), when Ash is surrounded by people who look like him, he’s more alone and confused than ever. Sanga is the best person to be there for him, and their relief when they finally touch and realize they belong in each other’s lives gets me every time.
And “every time” means a lot because I’m racking up hours watching this series over and over and over…

In addition, Sanga used a black wrap to cover her arms, while Ashivon used a white wrap.

I’ve never cried so goddamn hard, when this came out I cried and then hesitated on watching it, but let me say- this is a friggin’ masterpiece! I’ve never felt so emotionally attached to a concept of characters, this is absolutely delightful and more people should take interest in it! It really made me think, made me connect- actually succumb to real life, this entire series as a whole is revolutionary.

This has more emotion in four minutes than Frozen could ever have with two full-length movies.
I love the detail of the cut going across the divinity mark on her chest. She's leaving her old life behind, and even more so when she starts to cover up the marks. The movements of breathing, the facial expressions, esp when Ashivon looks into the beyond and just cries and when Sanga went to grab his hand but decided not to and fully grimaced. This is so amazing...
I thought the cut over her divinity mark was intentional? I mean clearly magic exists, the divinity mark is giving her her powers right?

Yo, so, to this day, as an animator, whenever I decide to re-watch THIS and the Church animatic, it takes me hours to get to the end because I keep using the comma and period keys to watch frames and specific split seconds so i can fully FEEL and APPRECIATE the work and effort + motion in your work is, as always, so excellent and freaking ace. The way you work and visualize is just artful, man.
I like spending time by using my brain to fill in the short seconds you allow between storyboards, and noticing the differences of facial expressions in every shot, the arcs of movement and where they go, just all that good, good, delicious, stuff. It gives me so much joy to let myself overanalyze and marvel at the beauty of the drawn anatomy and your characters in action. It's something I can't get enough of, and you give me that in the millions. God. Just. eVEYTIME. Splendid. So, so, so neverendingly splendid.

your skill with expression and body language never fails to astound me. the amount of time, energy, and effort you invest into your art is always so clear, what with how fantastic your projects always turn out to be!
this is a beautiful story. i think my favorite aspect is, ahm. the way that in most of the scenes wherein sanga and ashivon are in the same shot, uh, one or the other is (usually) grayed out. i understand that that's to prevent the screen from looking cluttered, but-well! for me, it conveyed a degree of disconnect between them?
in the beginning, they're both displayed with the same dark lines. it is only in that first moment of introspection sanga has, fleeing the city, standing at that cliff, that their values differ. and we see that as their own fears, anxieties, and traumas surface, distance forms between them. here, the only(?) times their lines match values are when their minds are directed outward rather than inward.
and they end in those same dark lines, too! which, uh. that they take each other's hands already illustrates that they're overcoming these struggles together, but the opacity of their linework just cements that. to me.
i hope i'm not too off-beat! it's just a wonderful detail that never fails to leave me feeling a whole lot of feelings whenever i rewatch this. i'm a huge fan if this. thank you so much for all the work that went into it.

whoa I really like how you incorporated the PTSD and everything... and how both were afraid to hold the others hand because of the pain that they caused on both sides-

Okay listen toasty. These two videos have completely consumed my thoughts. I just want to keep rewatching it your music choices have always been bomb af, and you really do GET emotional storytelling. UGH I LOVE YOUR WORK SO MUCHHHHHHHH
Hi can I just appreciate how these emotions are expressed, and how realistic feeling you made all of their reactions to being freed?? Ashivon seeing the outside world for the first time and crying, not being able to cope with being safe and accidentally hurting the people he cares about??? You depicted his trauma SO well(and just with visuals too!). He was just a scared kid stolen from his family and raised to be a killer beast, his reaction to freedom is just😩👌 so good. He ran for his life and didn’t look back, and is still extremely paranoid until the final moment when he breaks down, realizing that he is truly safe. It’s so good. But Sangara does look back while running because unlike Ashivon she probably had some good memories she left behind, but she leaves that all behind with the metaphoric casting off of that cloth!!! They don’t know where they’re going but they trust that they’ll find a way somewhere better than there. Then the kid mentions his family with the drawing, and Ashivon remembers his family from so long ago with them parallels! Yes! and then Sangara remembers some legend(probably) about where the demon beasts live and so they ask around to find out if it’s true and where to go and they meet those very lovely guides that give them a taste of what love and compassion look like, and when they find the village!!! And the kid gets to go home!! It made me so happy. That village has probably never seen anyone come back once they’re taken by the Church, those parents were probably overjoyed!!! And they all were welcomed and it was so lovely and I love this universe and the really cool character designs and the characterization you get even just from visuals!!! The thEMES!!! This would get a 100% from me on an animation college final project or something. Thank you I love it, please keep making more videos and new universes and whatever you like bc you’re crazy creative and very talented at telling a good story in this unique medium! Stories based off of the vibe of songs is just so cool please don’t feel obligated to continue this storyline because honestly letting the story come to you makes for such a cool project than finding a song to fit the story, keep making cool stuff!!!
I always enjoy people who make these really long comments about their observations and studies of the video. As someone who also tries to do this I would like to say I enjoyed these observations of yours.
It always sucks when I find these types of comments with no reply’s. All this time spent studying something and you get a really cool idea. And then nothing comes of it. It just sucks sometimes.

I haven’t seen any comments about how the humans that met them didn’t immediately try to kill ashivon and the little demon, they were _friendly_ and even HELPFUL. Some of them glared yes but they were probably followers of the church. There were many many more instances of humans being kind and the ones that shoved Sanga forward after him when he ran off the boat and she hesitated, they knew, they could tell she wanted to go after him and knew she needed to.
And then the demons too, not attacking a human for being there and welcoming these 2 strangers so openly at the end,
The world is much kinder than either of them EVER would have imagined

Exactly. It kind of reminds me of the Giver. Both trapped in a society that give off the impression that the whole world is cruel and controlling, because "that's just how it should be". So when they leave and discover a world they never imagined could exist, one outside of the church's control, it's incredible.

I don't know exactly what triggered it, and I guess I just wasn't aware of how much has been weighing on my mind without me realizing it.
