This is ridiculous. The best thing she’s done so far is come out about it. We don’t have to know the details of her cancer. But just saying that she had it gives her the support she deserves from the public. She is the public face of their monarchy. There’s only so much privacy she can demand. She can keep the laparoscopy to herself but the basic diagnosis was the right thing to reveal.

I had major abdominal surgery at 33 for a bowel resegment, colon cancer was found, and removed. After a month of recovery I started 9mo's of Folfox chemotherapy. That was over 10yrs ago. I'm not saying that is what Kate has but I do sympathize. Important fact chemo is accumulative so each treatment is profoundly harder than the last, it's exhausting physically and mentally convincing yourself to go to another round of chemo after being told the cancer was removed. You do for the people you love. I'm glad Kate has 3 kids who love her and I hope she has a speedy recovery

She's a public figure and you give up your right to privacy quite a bit. The real problem is the more one keeps any condition like this private just like Secretary of the defense Austin it does not help in your healing process. And in her case that is the abdomen it is the power center of your whole being it is the center of Choice versus no choice and there's a lot of anger that goes with that when you feel no choice which could be covered up by a lot of fear. She really needs to get an open mind and I understand William has a bad temper and he's got so much baggage from his mother Emmett three-ring Circus the boys were brought up with their father who was so untoward in his behavior plus I read recently Princess Diana had so much stress in her own family paid her brother went off to a prep school and was like many of the boys sadistically abused, bloody buttocks and nobody stopped it and Diana tried to take care of her brother when he was home to a certain extent and of course always worried about him. So of course she was very young and a virgin and that's what the Prince Charles wanted even though he was a running around selling his Wild Oats and having this ongoing relationship with Camille I mean it's all very sick really and so guess what it's going to make her sick it goes on to the DNA and whatever happened between William and Harry and all that mess. Let's hope she finds someone who will listen to her grief and guilt because she has many grief lost issues just in this lifetime. And all that history with the monarchy, time for the monarchy to go. It is all l u d i c r o u s outdated old Paradigm stuff!

Yes. This. We don’t administer chemo without cancer being diagnosed and present. There is no such thing as preventive chemo. Chemo is usually a second or third line treatment along side surgery, radiation and immunotherapy.
Preventive indicates a habit to prevent ever getting it. IE: using sunscreen daily to prevent skin cancer.

    • @jessicajimenez986

What it means is that they surgically removed a mass, cells, etc and upon biopsing whatever was removed, the results came back as having been cancerous. Although it was surgically removed, a round of chemo is given to the patient to make sure there isn't further growth of the same cancerous cells that were already surgically removed; that's why it is called preventive or adjuvent chemo. I hope that helps clarify what it means. Any doctor or person may confirm this information with an oncologist or cancer treatment center who are really the ones who are well versed on this topic. I am shocked that this Dr.Gupta is saying whatever he is saying & that the media continues to dissect this woman's private medical situation. I am shocked that many doctors are even publicly putting their 2 cents on this. In medicine is pretty much the same as any other field, a mechanical engineer is going to know little about what a chemical engineer knows. A cardiologist is going to know very little about what an urologist knows & vice versa. Once doctors go into their individual specialties, they are as clueless about those other fields as the rest of us. I have been in the medical field for 25 years now, so I feel very disappointed because all these medical experts should know better than to be discussing this woman's case. She needs to be given her privacy really.

Preventive chemo is a treatment, known formally as adjuvant chemotherapy, is a course of anti-cancer drugs that is given to mop up any cancer cells that might remain in the body after primary cancer treatment, which is usually surgical removal of a tumour.
In a nutshell this is what most likely occurred to Kate: She had surgery to remove a tumor that was not thought to be cancerous. The tumor was biopsied & turned out to be cancerous after all. Although it had been completely surgically removed, the medical protocol is to give the patient a round of chemo to decrease the risk of any cancer cells growing again or kill any lingering ones which are so small that are impossible to be detected by scans or anything else. So that's what it means that she is receiving preventive chemo. As a physician, Dr.Gupta should know that, but if he is not an oncologist then he might not be aware of terminology used to explain things to patients in a way that makes sense to them.

Dr. Gupta is right; the term is adjuvant chemotherapy. Chemo is not given in the complete absence of a cancer diagnosis. Adjuvant chemotherapy is done after surgery to remove a tumor to "mop up" any remaining cancer cells.
Neoadjuvant chemotherapy is chemo used before surgery in cases where it can shrink a tumor so less aggressive surgery is needed.

You have to lose something in exchange for these privileges, in this case, privacy. She’s the princess of wales, and her health is not entirely a private matter. It’s her job to do things that most people don’t need to do like showcasing her baby right after labor, and making public announcements like this. You don’t need to worry too much about her, she’s well compensated and she has all kinds of teams to help her.

Second, you have to believe the British royal family is not a bunch of stupid people who would make their own lives unnecessarily hard. They do these things for a reason: to maintain their privileges and relevance. They are not rulers anymore but celebrities-celebrities that can’t sing, dance, or do other tricks. The only thing that keeps them in the limelight is their bloodline, and naturally, their privacies are a big selling point. That’s how they roll. They can quit anytime they want, but most of them don’t, and that tells you something.

Catherine is legally entitled to the same level of medical privacy as everyone else in the UK. Catherine contributes to the RF bringing in £1.5 billion to the UK per/year so she is assisting to prop up the UK economy to the benefit of everyone who lives there. She actually didn’t need to reveal anything but she has and no one is entitled to anything more unless she decides to share it.

@@angiel3693try again. Brand Finance, a 3rd party source reports the RF cost the UK taxpayer £450 million p/year. They bring in £1.5 billion per year to the UK economy. Your description of them as ‘not singing or dancing’, they are ‘celebrities’ and their ‘privacy’ is all they have going for them since they don’t do ‘tricks’ - is very shallow and not accurate. They do an enormous amount of charity and community-oriented work each year in addition to bringing in the tourist dollars. The Prince’s’ Trust has been going since 1976 and between 2006 - 2016 the work focused on young people was valued at £1.4 billion. Idris Elba started his acting career with a grant from the Princes’ Trust and is an ambassador for it.
All the profits from Charles’ products under the Highgrove brand goes to Charity.
Catherine plays a part in contributing to the work done and the money that is returned to the UK economy. So she is entitled to her privacy to undergo treatment and comfort her young children. To stop the insane conspiracy theorists and those who wish her harm, she has revealed a minimal amount of information. She doesn’t have to reveal anymore, she’ll return and get back to work.

Let’s say they do bring in that much money, that’s because they have world wide attention, which is a double bladed sword. You can’t ask the public to only focus on ribbon cuttings, patient huggings but not affairs, divorce, medical problems , drugs, lawsuits… btw you know who enjoy the dramas the most? Try again. In response to the patronizing comment. 3 people have tried to access Catherine’s medical records and the word is they were promised payment from a larger American media organisation. A criminal
Investigation is underway so it’s likely Catherine had to make a statement to ensure her news wasn’t broken by a media conglomerate.
Regarding staying quiet. Catherine is entitled to medical privacy under UK law. The conspiracy theorists were out of control with including DV fantasies so Catherine has given the minimal, clear information and told everyone she’s having time off. She’s done the sensible thing in the circumstances.
