El sentirse identificado con tu país no te convierte en fascista, eso es lo que no entienden los progres. Usa el translator para entenderlo.

One of my favourite Morrissey songs. Sadly, he doesn't perform it live anymore, probably due to the PC police...Will be seeing him live soon and I'll try and request it...😆

Morrissey got so much stick for this because people assumed he was singing from his own point of view -- whereas he was doing what he has always done and created a character (David), and of course it is this character's point of view he is singing about: especially when he's singing "England for the English". As a result, a lot of people who don't like Morrissey have decided that he must be racist, even though there isn't a shred of REAL evidence of this. Maybe the lesson to be learnt is to stay clear of these very sensitive kind of subjects, but then Morrissey has never shied away from commenting on the controversial areas of life -- and death! :0)

Tells you a lot about the critical thinking skills of so many people lol, he's clearly singing about a character named David like you say, which interestingly enough isn't Morrissey's name! xD
Sad how art is so often hindered by the empowered stupid.

@@cuchulainx3125 Right... Because David... was going to the National Front Disco...
So why would he be wearing a For Britain badge... Lol.

I don't know where you're from, but everyone I know here knows that this is a song about a character and not Morrissey. It really surprises me to find that, since the music is so clear.

Allow creative people to tell a story, sing a song or paint a picture, whatever -
without labelling them as this or that.
And have a laugh now and again.

Kick ass playing w/nice touches on the outro as you point out. Morrissey's vocal is superb. Not like that initial whine we first encountered w/ the Smiths. I had the same experience.

He hasn't evolved towards that ideology. Every quote is taken out of context.

In some ways yes, in other ways no, from what I can tell which is limited.
He's an intelligent guy so he has nuanced views, but a lot of people want simple boxes to put people in.

Agreed. Some people clearly can't see that.

As a Guardian reading lefty Liberal even i thought, back in 1992 after buying the album, that the song is simply about a character being radicalised.
It's just a character, not Morrisey
