Ladies and gentlemen, our legend Kikuchi has passed away from an aspiration pneumonia, age 89. He has composed too many tunes to count even if you exclude the entire Dragonball franchise. His last work might be an insert song for one of the sentai ranger series, Goseiger. May he RIP.
Just heard of the news and damn this one really got me, even if i didn't know him or listen to his score it still sucks learning about this. Rest well Mr.Kikuchi 🙏
Everyone, on March 1st 2024 we lost the man who created the entire world of Dragon Ball that we love so much, His work has changed the shape of the world as we know and his name might never be forgotten, may he rest in peace.
Kikuchi drew upon many influences for Dragon Ball’s music, using a variety of instruments no others have managed so effortlessly for the franchise. His music could be whimsical, bombastic, tense, hopeful, exciting, remorseful, really anything. After he departed the franchise, nothing else could capture the same magic.
Goodbye Kikuchi-san you ARE Dragon Ball - Godspeed you absolute legend of a man there will never be someone like you ever again , your legacy is irreplaceable for now and forever.
Fun fact: Even composers like Kohei Tanaka (One Piece) and Yasuharu Takanashi (Naruto Shippuden, FT) have a great respect for Kikuchi's work and name. The former even started out under him as an arranger!
Hearing this again made me tear up knowing that Shunsuke Kikuchi is now gone. I know there’s this huge discourse over the English and Japanese score for Dragon Ball Z but I don’t care. This man’s music was what gave Dragon Ball its personality and life and I will forever be grateful for that. Rest In Peace, Kikuchi-san and thank you.
Kikuchi's score would not sound at all out of place in a spaghetti western. That first piece sounds so much like Ennio Morricone, it hurts. In a good way.
Just learned of the news of kikuchi and while not growing up with his music it still hurts to see this coming as a fellow dragon ball fan! R.I.P. mr.kikuchi thank you for everything 🙏
Rest in peace, immortal legend, creative artist, your musical compositions, no one has been able to compose like them. Your compositions are the sister of the soul .... You are a creative person, and we have lost a person, an artist, and a sensitive personality and Hot deep-breaths We will never forget Grendizer ..... The history of creativity will never forget you
Absolutely fantastic. I know some people might prefer Bruce Faulconer or Kenji Yamamoto, but for me, Shunsuke Kikuchi will always be the best composer for Dragon Ball.
Smasher Josh his soundtracks are less simple and more for modern anime.Kenji Yamamoto was a good composer but due to plagiarism complaints he had to go away.
Rest In Peace. You were one of the main reasons why I became a massive supporter of both music and Dragon Ball in general, this hurts so much... What a legend this guy was though.
I’ve been looking for the first track for years and it’s crazy I would find it on the day he passed. One of my greatest inspirations since I was a baby. A Master of his art.
Kikuchi is a legend. And it´s fine if someone prefers Bruce Faulconer but it´s a fact that Kikuchi is a much more talented composer, his music is way more complex on many levels.
It's real apparent in the movies, and even from the original series till end of Z. He had complete command of the notes he wrote, he knew it all like the back of his hand. And this is no exaggeration, the incarnations he gives his themes are nothing short of genius.
hermano me acabo de comprar un cuadro de goku para mi habitación ... justo hoy /: ... lo colgare y recordare este día siempre... pero siempre con respeto y agradecimiento a este maestro que se nos fue
Rip Shunsuke Kikuchi. You're music really depicts what OG DB/DBZ is, it just screams of Dragon Ball. One of my favorites of all time was "Goodbye Son Goku" but everything Kikuchi made was a masterpiece. Thank you so much
Shunsuke was the first composer that introduced us to power through hard work, to love through tenacity and to the will to never surrender. Thank you for being a great part in our childhood. Whenever and wherever you are, i hope that your genius will still inspire.
This is real music, actual string instruments that make us feel the wide ranging atmosphere of Dragon Ball. American, so called "music" is nothing more then a computer being lobotomized and a cheesy sounding keyboard with techno rock whereas Japanese soundtrack is live music orchestration. Unlike american, the Japanese original version captured the intensity and emotion that went into this story. Kikuchi's scores always had that magnificent quality of being able to reach the soul with its images, its sound, and its music. Without doubt a series that was enjoyed with the heart more than with the head. Japanese> American
@@FizzyArtCola No, one is legendary. The other is only liked but people who lived in the US and were kids in the late 90s-early 2000s and let nostalgia define them

It was amazing to hear his music growing up in the 90's watching the Spanish dub. R.I.P.
You grown up with latin spanish dub or spanish dub ?
This composer captured the best aspects of dragon ball and z, and when I say best I mean pretty much everything.
