I owned a 51 Pontiac Chieftain. I drove it when I attended college. This video was a pleasant memory for me. Mine was three on the tree but the color was the same.
They weren't safe at all in a crash but the sure as hell were classy looking, unlike today's boxy computer clones. They've taken all the soul out of transportation.
They were not fast but very smooth and extremely reliable. They did have a lot of low end torque! My 53 with 3 on the tree was capable of taking off from a dead stop in 3rd and not stall.
Your car is Gourgous. You did a great job on the color love the two tone. Look's like it just came off the assembly line... Does the Indian light up? Good Luck!
Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the German Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one state operated central gas station per city. From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any more.
That hideous radio speaker....Pontiac had trouble finding spots for them...like the 1957 Pontiac in middle front floor hump....But this looks like someone jammed a bar b que grill in the dash yuglee!!.
Theirs something about them early 50's Chieftain, that I truly love! ❤
Those flathead eights were so quiet and smooth!

Original interior looks really good!
I had a 51 Chieftan straight 6 with a column shift in my younger day.
My father's '53 Chieftain had the straight 8 and Hydramatic.

Safer than a small foreign car.
Like we used to say about the straight eight, eight in a row-no go!

I had a '49. The dash and instrument panel was similar but the gauge arrangement was different (4 circular ones)
Damn that thing is quiet ! Didn't even hear it start up when you hit the button. Looks and sounds like it's electric drive.
